Diadem Gear > (Alex Norm / Savage, Crafting, PVP, VA, Extreme primals, tome) gear?

I'm hearing that Diadem Gear is basically better than everything?

Why would they make one mode (that doesn't require much skill) make almost everything else irrelevant? So basically when you hit item level 179 - go straight to Diadem - be bored within two weeks?

Most of the diadem gear is utter crap that's only worth turning in for the spoils.

It has the potential to be better than basically everything if you are extremely lucky.

That's RNG for you.

People are blowing this whole thing way out of proportion. Even if you're getting a lot of i210 drops, the likelihood of them being remotely useful or better than what you could have gotten from AS or Esoterics is pretty slim. Unless you get astronomically lucky, you're going to be farming for a long time before you can build a full, really powerful set.

I will admit though it does seem like a pretty nice way to quickly gear up all your alt classes or at least bring them more to par.

its amaze me how people make a thread for every little problem thats not even verified by himself.


and whats wrong with grinding to get a better gear? is it any different than bashing your head over and over again in savage? for me its just a same thing, you spend your time and effort to get your gear as your goal, its just one with bashing your head, and one is wait for 4 month and grind the gear with zergling and deal with heavy RNG. its just a preference.

adding one more point, SE need to give the head starter more incentive than just BRAGGING RIGHTS, while i170 crafting gear have a benefit as gil maker (easier to do macroed crafting, more time effective crafting) if you do the headstart for i170 gear.

for i210 savage gear the incentive is just bragging right, so people who have savage/ do savage for gear, always not counting the 4 month head start is not a big deal.

I would agree with you but the lvl 210 gear from diadem isn't rare by any stretch of the imagination. I went to diadem for just under an hour and saw 7-8 pieces of 210 gear drop, some had crappy bonus stats but most didn't. I love the creators of this game, and I do enjoy playing it. But the devs have no idea what they are doing when it comes to endgame.

I guess you also stopped reading the title at some point, since it ends with a question mark, making this a question and not an opinion. He's saying he heard that and asking us if it's true or not.

Back on topic, the Diardem gear COULD be better but it's way too random. There are multiple layers of RNG involved. First for a NM to appear, then for it to drop something for the job(s) you're looking for, then it has to be on a part of the body you're looking for, then the stats distribution is random, then you have to roll on it (unless you're going on a premade and use lootmaster or you call stuff). If mindless zerging for hours and hours is your thing then go on.

I saw 210 Fending pants yesterday with 54 Crit, 22 Acc and 32 Det--and I lost the roll; almost fell off my couch.

Ever play Diablo 1, 2, or 3 amigo?

People say it's extremely rare to get good stats yet I keep seeing good stats on a lot of the screenshots they've posted sans the apparent photoshopped one... and this coming from Normal mode?

Diadem is end-game? First I've heard of that. I thought it was an accessible level 60 spammable, farmable, open world grind-fest supporting combat and gathering - or did I miss something?

I am not disagree with letting non-raiders get coat and twines from Void Ark or huntings. They will get the same gear as a Raider but 3 months after. I am disappointed when 2 months of effort inside Alex savage to clear it, is not rewarded when in an hour or a few, spamming 3-4 buttons you could get better gear.

How can you promote Alex Savage clears if you are gifting gears without effort?

Diadem remember me "timeless island" in WoW. Alters and absent players could join to the game, obtaining a lower tier of items, let them to raid LFR. Then, they have the choice to keep that gear or try to get a better tier or the best tier.

what do you get in FFXIV? Same items as raiders or also betters. You didn't kill Living liquid, you didn't kill "manipulator". Just you facerolled NM and Star monsters.

I want to know. What is the point to raid 3.2 if in 3.3 we would know Diadem v2 could have the same gear or better? Take 3 months break, back to 3.3 and LF diadem "i want free gear".

Why would anyone complain over something that is accessible and solo friendly? Do people just do it for the sake of just creating a thread that is gonna end up in arguments?...it's Just beyond me...

I just wish there were goal with the hunts, or they were bosses that you had to at least fight your way to. The whole stand in one spot and farm is just boring and gets tiresome quick.

I'm sorry, how does any of that invalidate your achievement of clearing A4S? Your post comes across as someone who is basically upset that non-raiders and less capable players will get similar gear to yours by other means. Isn't that something that's essentially a feature of vertical progression?

But aside from that, why is this even still a discussion to be had, this has happened every other patch since 2.1.

I don't know if it's your intention (I doubt that it is), but complaining about this now just comes across as being a bit elitist about high end gear and a bit condescending towards non-raiders.

It is random tho. I saw a blm 210 bracelet with identical stats to eso 200 bracelet. And also saw a whm head, and only stat was crit hit... no mind no nothing, just crit hit. I have seen good pieces tho. .. but most drops are 150 or 180, unless u get a NM and usually get at least 1 210 pc

Eh, even the twines coming from Void Ark and Hunts is kinda shitty. No need to deal with annoying Livid Liquid, just wait a few months and you can get it with less time invested and less effort. I could've just unsubbed and come back to easier to obtain twines instead of banging my head against the wall with my whole static on A3 for quite a while. There is no incentive to do Savage now, not even for bragging rights as some say as the sole reason people do Savage (hint: it's not the main reason, else we would've seen more interest in Coil Savage). Now that we are onto AS4, I see not much reason to do it if we can just wait for the relic, heh.

Isn't there an achievement + title, and a mount or minion that is exclusive to Savage Alex? Wouldn't those be the incentive you speak of?

Wouldn't surprise me if this gear is a weird preview of what stats gear can have when they add the materia slots to tome gear whenever they do.

Meh not like diadem gear will matter in 3.2 normal alex will drop 220 gear, tomestone gear will be 230 and alex gear will be 240

I'm not a raider. I don't play even close enough. However - I can certainly see how raiders would be upset and it's clear that you're missing the point. Top raiding groups pride themselves on being amongst the world's first. Not my cup of tea - but I will always respect another's hobby.

Where you're missing the point is that the gear from Diadem can be better than raiding gear. This means that when the next patch arrives - there will be some raid groups that are in a "better" position from day one than others based purely on RNG. The best raid group in the world might get horrible Diadem drops and the second best raid group might get countless miracle drops giving them a huge edge next patch. Hardcore raiders are now forced to grind Diadem if they want a shot at being world first next patch rather than playing the content that they enjoy. The random stats that are better than raid gear is an issue.

So, in short terms, you want some gear to be the best for two consecutive patches. You want raid gear to stay the best for half a year before having to replace it with... new raid gear.

You should start to wrap your mind around the idea that raid gear is the best only for the current patch before having alternatives or better replacements the next one, or you'll be disappointed every time an odd numbered patch comes out.

With Coat and twines you get "same" gear as a raider. A raider with gordian pieces have better gear than non-raiders.
The point is, you don't need to raid, Diadem could be better than esoterics gear and gordian gear.

The fact, Weapons like heavens bow in thordan EXT is better than Esoteric weapon.

Totally agree with everything you said. Fitting, that your name is Mature. As that was one of the most mature posts I've seen on here. Besides, I always felt that the true prize for beating savage was more bragging rights and less on gear.

Mixed Myth and Allagan > full myth gear

2.2 - 2.3
Mixed Soldiery and High allagan gear > full Soldiery gear

2.4 - 2.5
Mixed Dreadwyrm and Poetics gear > full poetics gear

3.0 - 3.1
Full Diadem gear with good rolls and RNG > Mixed Esoterics and Gordian > full Esoterics.

Now sum the effort to get allagan gear - high allagan gear - dreamwyrn gear and Gordian gear against faceroll NM and stars monsters.
One type of gear need you to improve, to be a good player, the other one, just a ship, RNG and good rolls.

The ratio for effort:reward is not balanced. AS3 is a kick in the nuts and takes so much time investment, coordination, effort and can demoralize statics easily. If a fight is going to be this hard, at least the reward should feel worth of all that sweat. Making it worthless on the next patch after a few months is not the way to make it feel like it was worth it. Also, the battles are no better than coil for the majority of people so if it wasn't for the gear, I bet you not alot of people would even bother just for the fights. There were a lot of threads back then, from raiders complaining about how Alex Savage fights were not exciting and actually boring. I agree with them, I couldn't stomach AS3 anymore after a while. We were one of the few statics that survived the statics murders. I'm actually surprised we did, because we were getting demoralized, too, but we kept going at it until we finally beat it.

i think the token gear after eso will have it. But still, you will not can put materia into diadem pink gear.
So, token/raid gear with materia is better than diadem gear because of less random. Then people do diadem to farm points for materias or gears for alt jobs.

From Patch 3.2, crafted equipment will become more powerful that what it has been up until now. Furthermore, accessories will be implemented at the same time as the high-tier equipment that can be created by crafters. Additionally, materia slots will be added to raid equipment and the equipment that can be purchased with the various tomestones, so you’ll be able to add materia to boost the sub-stats that you prefer.

No, absolutely not. Unless they completely change the materia system, those sockets will not mean much at all. SE also hinted at the notion you might not be able to pentameld raid gear. Essentially, you will have regular melding, just no over melding.

that means you get 1-3 materia depending on the gear slot you are melding. Three materia is not going to make up for these large advantages showing up on diadem gear.

Why is this an issue. More ways to get stuff is always good... even if you wont be doing much with the new stuff 0_0.

- The gears are not only an RNG for stats but also for the class.
- On a simple DF run even, you can only greed for each piece so you will be ALWAYS competing against 7 other people.
- On top of that, the gears can have good stats, yea, but not necesarily better than a piece you already have.
- Another matter is that you can't really calculate a BiS planning yourself around them, since the stats are all unknown and random, specially if you don't have them yet.
- Its a matter of RNGed-stats vs Known-stats.
- Its been said that in patch 3.2 blue gear will have materia slots enabled, so even if The Diadem were to get better things even further ahead it will have no way to be improved. This adjustment... may also fit for the already existing raid gear... but I dunno.

We needed an alternative to 1 method of endgame far more than the need for egos to be stroked for 6 months.

As it is, getting that sort of gear(which is rng, so BiS will prove especially elusive) Along with the look you like, means a LOT of time will be spent in Diadem for many people.

Thus only means Materia. Along with the stats it represents, will need an overhaul if its usage is to be appreciated, seeing stats not have to be such a pittance of difference per materia would be welcome.

In 3.2, Diadem gear will be outdated. Best RNG in diadem gear could let you get more dps during "alexander savage 2" the first days after release.

What is the point people don't get? Diadem gear could be better than esoterics and gordian.

So you don't go to Alex savage to kill a boss, you will prefer to take a ship, visit Diadem and grind until you get the item. Same timesink, but the reward could be better. Also, if you don't get an improve, you still get trash gear to turn in, get Materia V, crafting materia or others things.
You put both styles of raid in a balance. If you don't kill the raid boss, you will get nothing. If you enter Diadem, at least a few coins you get to trade.
