There has been a change in Azys Lla [3.0 ending spoilers]

So, in 3.0, the warring triad were all gold statues, right?

What is causing the plant growth? A build up of aether?

It looks like it will break apart.

It's quite bizarre, really, the pulsing has stopped, each of them is covered in mossy stuff and are worn. Hmm, they are going through reverse "petrification" it seems.

Perhaps the vast aether/'limitless power' that Allag was taking is pumping back into these things, explains (a bit) the vegetation growths on just them themselves. I think the Crystal Engine looks slightly different too, but I'm not entirely sure... I swear it wasn't so "wavey" before.

No matter, Thordan has messed up... and it seems ancient Allag has another five thousand year time bomb ready to explode.

Dammit, Allag, YOU HAD ONE JOB.

Additionally, even the warring triad were briefly mentioned -again- by Elidibus

But imagine on every patch those status will look diferent, how this is going to aplly for new players? Only veretan players would have being able to see how the statues looked like and new ones will see them totaaly at the edge of breaking apart?

Nope. I suspect they're like Alexander: an open-field element that changes based on your MSQ progression. Players will likely not see them in this state until after clearing 3.1's MSQ. I can ask some friends I know are about to reach Azys Lla to take pictures of what they see.

i hope it wont get predictable, gods break free and begin to hate the humans and the likes, then mistook Garleans are the Allags.

Elidibus clearly has plans for the Triad and I have a feeling Thordan's little rebellion was actually one of Elidibus' machinations to awaken the sleeping gods. We all know they're breaking free but I have to agree the way they're changing is odd; they're not just sprouting plants either, their surface is turning to bark from the looks of it. We still don't know what the Triad actually were before they were turned into statues though so it's possible they're reverting to their true forms in some sense.

New sightseeing log gives us some insight to Fiend/Sephirot:

A cathedral designed in a distinct Meracydian style. The architecture suggests a place of worship by a tribe of treelike beings who believed themselves 'remnants' of Sephirot. To research the link between faith and primal summoning, the Allags moved the ancient structure to Azys Lla from its original location on the southern continent.

The Cathedral log #62 can be found at (25,28) need to drop down twice from the top to reach it.

Well that lends some weight to the possibility that the Triad actually are plants... as odd as it seems.

I wonder if they may have something to do with the Elementals in the Shroud. They've always been something of an outlier in the lore so it would be nice to see their nature become more relevant to the overall narrative on aetheric beings.

If anything, Elidibus does not want the Triad awakening, at least not in the manner that they are doing so via the Primals and the removal of aether. Unukalhai says as much in the Ex primal quests, claiming they were not summoned by Ascians. Their goal was to awaken the Triad.

Do you really think Elidibus would allow, possibly have even have assigned, his pet Warriors to destroy Ravana if he wanted the Triad to be used?

That being said, he may seek to use them in a different manner, but we have no proof of it yet. Remember that it was Lahabrea who uplifted Thordan, and Lahabrea and Elidibus' goals do not entirely align, as shown by 2.55.

You know, I always thought that the Pappus Tree that's near Tiamat seemed odd. It even has aether surrounding it - similar to Tiamat. Would be interesting if it was actually the last of the "tree-like beings" that was mentioned and is lying dormant

I didn't specifically say he wants them to wake up, just that he has plans for them. I wouldn't be surprised if he wants the WoL to destroy them somehow with intent to use the aether that would release. Of course getting us to kill them would require them to be disturbed from slumber. Ravana and Bismark are just opportunists taking advantage of the situation.

Look at the arboretum, much of void ark, and now the statues in azys lla

Sephirot (a hebrew word. from which 'Sephiroth' is derived) is the tree of life from the metaphysical hebrew book Kabbalah. It's not really a 'tree' but rather a path to Heaven/Godliness with branches that represent various virtues like Love/Kindness/Wisdom. I could see a tribe of tree-like Beastmen worshipping a 'Tree of Life' primal named Sephirot. Just don't expect it to be actually Sephiroth, that wouldn't make sense.

I think it's simply the dev team adding moss to statues to rectify an oversight in 3.0 and to better represent the thousands of years of neglect. Then again, I've always been more inclined to follow Occam's Razor.

Only, the faint pulse that each statue generated has stopped, and it's only the "statue" with the mossy look on them, the Allagan architecture they are mounted on is not touched at all.

They, and only they, have became mossy, and architecturally weakened.

I may have found another map change. Hinterlands 17,23. There was that waterfall coming out of the cave in the cliff face. That whole face is cracked and crumbling now. Can anyone confirm if it was that bad before? I thought it was just the cave in a solid face.

It's not just moss and plants growing on them though. If you look closely the previously gold surfaces are now replaced with tree bark. The statues are quite literally becoming trees; all three of them.

I get what you guys are saying, but even for people who haven't done the 3.1 story it's mossy. This means it's NOT tied to the story or triggered by an event.

This tells me it was just an aesthetic change SE decided to go with. If it was important, someone starting the game brand new today would have no idea since it would already be changed (so it can't be something important).

Its hard to say. Rev's Toll and Idyllshire's developments aren't based on a player's progression in the story, but the development of Rev's Toll has story implications. The Scions would never have chosen to relocate to Rev's Toll when it was just a handful of stones and tents, for example.

In that case: huh. Weird. They have both sets of textures and are definitely capable of instancing objects in the field based on quest progression, so I kinda wonder why they'd choose to retcon them instead. Seems like kind of a waste, unless we're going to be seeing them in the other state at some point later on (like when van Hydrus finally takes control of the Flagship).

The crack that emanates from the cave doesn't look to have changed, though the part at the north end of that crack may have grown. I never paid it too much attention, so I'm not sure.

This may be me stretching it and putting together hints that don't belong, but

According to the WHM storyline, the aether of the Shroud is influenced by the aether of the Hinterlands and Highlands, and Ishgard in general. So when something is happening in Dravania, it also directly influences the Shroud.

Aether, unless you're in the Void, does not exist within a vacuum. This means that the aether of Dravania/Coerthas/Ishgard in general is also influenced by the aether in the Shroud.

And what's wrong with the aether in the Shroud that could influence Ishgard? Well, we don't know, but that scholar in 2.5 seemed extremely panicked about it.

Because of Thordan disturbing the Triad, paired with the possible altering of the regional aether from the Shroud, the strange, out of place tree-like appearance makes me feel like the Triad is being influenced by whatever it is that is changing the aether in the Shroud, which could possibly be very, very bad.

Yeah, my bad, I was able to find a video that showed the area before. It seems I was mistaken.

I came to FFXIV at the end of 2.2 & didn't complete the story until 2.3 but lots of things that I'd already seen in the field were shown happening in the MSQ. They may just do it that way & upon another visit to Azys Lla in 3.2 any newbie will see the old style in the cutscenes. After all, you can't access Azys Lla without a nice long scene.

The move to Revenant's Toll was for the sake of moving to neutral territory. That's explained in the 2.1 story. In fact, if you did the 2.1 story back in 2.1, the Toll literally was a handful of stones and tents still.

The development of the Toll is more akin to the fact that it became an adventurer hub due to how quests were centralized there. The story had us going there regardless of how developed it was.

I didn't finish 3.0 until after the 3.1 update, ((Laziness, mostly)) but I seem to recall on my first visit to Azys Lla, the statues were Gold. an ugly tacky gold colour, but not creepy plant growth. I could be wrong though, I was avoiding the forums to avoid spoilers, so I didn't know I needed to look. Is it possible the change occurs after the Heavensward quest? Again, wasn't paying attention, but I remember thinking it looked like an ugly plating job. Probably due to my PS3 use.

My boyfriend just got to Azys La and they are still their gold, glowy selves for him.

I've looked to them before I did start the 3.1 MSQ and they were already in its new state.

So the change is linked to the quest "Heavensward" instead of any of 3.1's content. I only ever said it was "likely" 3.1's MSQ, but this makes more sense, actually, since the Thordan fight is when stuff actually happens with them.

So still MSQ, just not any of the new stuff.

Well Fiend, Demon and Goddess are a bit too Generic (Even though there ARE primals named after species like Titan and Garuda)

they may be using both the general names for common folk and specific names for learned folk. there is a bait called the fiendworm, which is one of three possible names according to item description. and its used primarily for aetherfishing.

There has also been some changes to the music in the zone to compared to it's original version, looks like there have been some changes all around the area.
