Top 3 reasons people leave XIV: Sleep, Work, Food. What will Yoshida do to fix this?

I'm sure anyone who plays this game with other people has noticed people constantly leave the game. Unfortunately it's at a stage where we as players can only accept it but it shouldn't mean that we should give up on trying to get a fix for these issues.

So reason 1 is sleep. I'm sure everyone has noticed this before, especially if you play with people in different time zones. You're just having a fun time, joking around with your buddies, and then someone drops a bomb. They say something like "Kk guys gonna go rest, catch you tomorrow." and then they're gone for 10-15 hours.

Work is another massive reason people leave the game. I would say "classes" also fits into this category. People are always saying "Alright got to leave for work" or "Shift is starting soon, cya later". Bad thing about this is that sometimes people are gone for 18+ hours since they get "tired from work".

Food is a bit minor compared to the rest, but I've seen my fair share of people leaving FFXIV because of it. Lunch breaks, dinner, getting a snack. People leave the game half the time because of this and it really gets me down.

So what is Yoshida going to do to fix this? Is it too much to ask for one or do we just need to get used to it?

Connect them to the Matrix and use their bodies to power the game

Eh. At this point I've given up on food for the most part. Sleep is slowly becoming a luxury more than a necessity. As for work, I'd say the only solution there is for SE to pay my bills for me, but only time will tell if that patch will ever be implemented.....

Clearly a .hack thing needs to happen if you want players to never leave

I found sticking a USB from one's ear into the computer (I used the one for my phone) gave me enough of a shock that I no longer needed to rest. There was some kind of warning about brain damage, btu tahts jsut mdae pu.

As for eating, I found getting terminally ill reduces how much food you need/want to consume. Thanks to Google, I found out that the cold I had last week was actually cancer. So I expect the weight loss to come soon.

As for the work thing, a simple fix would be to turn your /ptime into real money. Though, this system can be easily abused by AFKing in Idyllshire or by DPS using their long queues to get more /ptime, so there will have to be cautionary measures implemented with this system.

You forgot a fourth reason boredom the player gets bored then they just turn it off and do something else

Also you can't stop someone from turning off the game or leave in it they have their reasons and nothing can stop them except themselves.

Clearly, pie is the answer. Eat pie, and you do not hunger. Eat enough pie, and you do not sleep. Take pie to work, and its entirely possible they will not notice your absence. Problems solved.

*Carefully does not mention what kind of pie is needed for any or all solutions.*

The trick is to start playing XIV once you've become a billionaire, that way you never have to worry about paying your sub, can endlessly order food and have other people shove it into your mouth, never have to work, and can clone yourself so that while one of you sleeps the other can continue playing. It's really not that hard, only filthy casuals complain about these things.

I've got a couple of solutions.

Sleep - with only a week or so of practice, you'll find that sleep offers the perfect time for gathering *especially* fishing. Your reflex motor functions will do all the hard work for you and you should awaken with a full inventory and only slight RSI.

Work - remote desktopping or remote play through your Sony phone/Vita is an easy solution to this. Make sure you get a boring deskjob wherein you have access to the company internet and are able to do any actual work set in the moments you're waiting in Duty Finder queues to level those pesky dps classes.

Food - Just order online grocery deliveries, leave your door open, and ask the nice delivery person to just drop everything around your gaming area. Try to only buy products that will have zero organic waste for hygiene purposes - anything with sauce or inedible skins are a pain.

Defecation - Fortunately, Yoshi-P has thought about this. Make sure that you snatch those valuable afk moments just as you are about to enter DF boss fights - they're usually single arenas, so you can happily afk whilst your party gets the kill.

Boredom - Ha. Haha. HAHAHAHAHA. I mean SERIOUSLY. Do YOU have all the achievements unlocked? Didn't think so. How is boredom possible, with these life-affirming goals laid out in front of you.

I know everyone is bored, but 3.1 is only a few hours away guys.

What it amounts to is that the people who are normally not bored with the game, are now bored because we can't play the game. And the people who were bored of the game, are still bored because they're having to wait until the patch comes out before they can complain about being bored with the game again.....

Is the most common excuse for afking in my DF runs... of course followed by the person having to mouse click everything as their fingers are sticky. >.>

I need to scratch or massage my bum every few hours I play XIV. I thought it was because I use an uncomfortable wooden chair, but Google told me I have Bowel Cancer. Have to say this ninja update is pretty good, looking forward to not needing to eat as much so I can play more.

Google is the best doctor. Unlike every other doctor, Google doesn't deal with the BS common illnesses, but gets right down to the serious, rare, and life threatening ones so you can get treatment right away.

Forgot to eat all day and decided to gorge solo on a large pizza? Tapeworm.

Sneeze without any warning during raid and wipe the party? Herpes.

Leg fell asleep because you were sitting on it? Amputate it, it's dead.

Joints crack when you stretch between queues? You have too much Vitamin D, go outside less.

The only thing that made me want to quit was Atma. I was pretty close to saying "Screw this" and just leaving. Nothing in this game made me abhor booting up and playing more than grinding that out.

Fortunately I got over myself and just did it. Took 140 hours over the course of 8 days, and I definitely don't plan to let something get to me like that again, lol.

Once they figure out VRMMO's with PS VR and/or occulus we can log on and then they can lock the servers and force us to live in Eorzea and the only way to escape is to beat endgame content, i.e Savage raids and EX primals.

Especially with only like 8 story missions, itll be a short patch. The only thing that has any hope of keeping ppl entertained is the airship thing. I can see it being something fun ppl can do that lasts longer than 20 minutes, and you might not do every day. I'm sure the community will find someway to complain that gold chests are too hard to get or don't rain down from the sky when you enter the place or something. And it'll prob get nerfed along with everything else, but I hope the airship thing is fun for at least a month or two.

Let's be fair. They could provide 30 story mission, none of them being of the fetch quest variant, six completely new dungeons with no DPS checks - just new mechanics - and some people would still find something to complain about. Even if it amounted to, "This patch has too much content!"

I'd have said the responsibilities of being an engaged man trying to build a family...but then my fiancé plays too.

Well dang, how am I gonna be bored now? :(

Wife aggro - the best tank in the world doesn't even have a prayer at provoking it off you.

If only the game became real life such as the likes of Swords Art Online and Log Horizon that'd be amazing.

They could always extend the limit and gain rate to rested exp to something that can boost at least 10 levels non stop. As well as making a game mode thats accessible instantly for tomes.
