I also think it's safe to assume that a sanuwa mount will also be introduced with the vanu vanu best tribe

Nice! I actually like the Kirin's new wings of light. LOVE that they are doing the Bomb chair, Ahriman and ADS.

The reapers seem a stretch to me... I mean, VI had flying magitek but those were more akin to copter-chairs than reapers. Glad to see they aren't going whole hog, though. I still don't want to see flying goobbues.

Its a flying mode or something, if you look at the screenies the "gills" becomes wings and the legs have some sort of boosters/hover to them. Even then, it's still much more believible than a gobbule, tortoise or bear (sans rocket packs) that just grows wings like a DotA2 courier.

Sad that some/all mounts are given flying capabilities only cause the RP community says it looks "unrealistic" or kills their immersion or what have you.

Why not the normal Unicorn too...? but a that heavy Magitek machine flys lol...

Why our avatars cant fly without mount? .-. (we already CAN do in some cutscenes!)

Even with unrealistic, some are borderline absurdity. At least something like a fat chocobo already has wings (and the fact its a chocobo, only, well...fat which can inherently fly). I personally don't particuarly want to see things like bears, horses (espesically ones with no magical affinity like the wardsteads) magically sprout (organic) wings.

Apply something like that to a gobbule, tortoise or a bear and that's imo breaking the willing suspension of disbelief in even a fantasy setting like FFXIV.

Goobue could make a helicopter blade from its arm.

Am I the only one hoping that the primal mounts WON'T learn to fly because they're planning on having the new primals drop pegasi?

I'm still waiting on an "Enkidu" flying "mount" that is really just a chicken painted green that I grasp by the legs and fly/hover like Gilgamesh.

This is not a joke, I seriously want one simply because of its absurdity and it already has a precedence in the game.

I wish flying wasn't in the game at all, except airship transportation. It kinda cheapens the experience when you can just fly in a straight line everywhere and avoid all the nooks and crannies they made when they created the landscape. I'm sure I'm probably in the minority though.

@Lukha . . . I also really, really want a Pegasus mount.

that was the whole point of the Aether Currents. everyone who flies earned it by exploring the nooks and crannies. i don't need to explore every nook and cranny every time i want to get some hardsilver ore. flying is great.

I might be wrong, but Im almost positive I heard them say (possibly before heavensward when they were talking about flying mounts) that primal ponies would be able to fly, but they were doing it with Kirin first.

It's likely they have to do some animations so will probably release/update more for other patches.

Being able to fly won't deter people who want to take in all the small details from discovering them.

And these are good mounts. Although I'm still disappointed that there's no flying Rowena mount.

A horse with no wings makes sense to fly? An orb that literally does nothing but hover and attack makes more sense to fly? And to Kosmos, regardless if it makes sense that a Magitek can fly or not is besides the point. Magitek's don't fly. Now they do.

Look, if everything that flies has wings than this isn't an argument. They are making mounts that have NO BUSINESS flying in air, do exactly that. Fenrir gets nothing? I am playing a fantasy game in a fantasy world and y'all are comparing my argument to what makes sense?!?!?!?! Are you kidding me???? I don't give two shits if "wolves don't fly" NEITHER DO HORSES.

I grinded Fenrir because it's an awesome mount. I do enjoy having it. I don't enjoy Square Enix making my time spent almost completely devalued. As I sit and watch mounts get perks to having them since Fenrir has been available, and Fenrir gets nothing....literally makes no sense to me at all. And Heavensward in itself made it to where it is just for riding around my housing district, or AFKing in front of Savage entrance.

Don't tell me "just think about why wolves can't fly" like I'm 5 years old, Ryu. How about you explain to me the specific science that allows a horse to fly? Please, I'm still waiting for this. How is it this forum thinks it is OK for a horse to fly and not a wolf? This is absolutely unbelievable.

I didn't think so... Don't say a damn word about a "mythological" pegasus either. Those aren't real, in case anyone wanted to rebut with that.

You can go through all those nooks and crannies yourself on your own, I did enough of it while leveling and unlocking the annoying aether currents, I thought the only reason they even added aether currents was to silence the players who'd be like "flying killed wow.. i mean ff" guess some people are never satisfied.

Darn, was really hoping for a flying turtle... maybe next time :'(

It makes sense for Kirin to fly because in it's mythos it feared bringing harm to any living thing, including grass, so it instead chose to tread on clouds and water. This is why people have been all but demanding Kirin be able to fly, because... it does. Flying chocobos have a precedent in older Final Fantasy titles. Fenrir, in XI, was a summon and all summons kind of flew until Treasures. The Fenrir mount, though, is NOT a summon. It is a trained wild animal like the war bear, coeurls, war lion, goobbues, behemoth, wolf, drake... list goes on. The bombs and ahriman, also wild animals to a degree, fly because they already fly as mobs. Same with the ADS through the power of allag magitek. The one upcoming flying mount I take pause at are the reapers... seriously, what the hell? There better be some power rockets on those things.

No. You knew exactly what you were getting with Fenrir and that's what you got. It still serves it's purpose in the 2.0 areas; and serves the exact same purpose that HW flying mounts do in those zones. I'm fine with them wanting to keep the mounts with wings relevant and making them flying mounts. I honestly expected them to just let Kirin gallop into the air, but I'm a little relieved to see they are giving it wing aesthetics.

People are asking about the primal horses because of Kirin, and I do find that ridiculous too, but because they're so related, I almost understand why. Fenrir is grasping at straws.

The sour grapes is real. in that case, let's make Behemoths, Drakes, and all other 2.0 mounts flyable because people have personal attachments to them.

I still think they should add an airship bladder to the tortoise with small rockets on the side of the shell so it can fly

I have to wonder if people are going to demand that Fenrir, Behemoth, or Goobbues should swim on the level of a personal submarine if we ever get that underwater expansion too.

Would those be visible when on the ground, or do flaps open on top of, and in the side of, the shell to reveal the air-bladder and rockets when the Tortoise takes to the air? In my mind's eye, I have a mental image of Bugs Bunny riding this poor thing and then it jumps to fly, and the segments of the shell fold out to reveal tiny jet engines on the side, and then a huge gas bladder (bigger than should be possible) emerges from the top of the shell carrying Bugs high into the air...

The eyepatch is a lie, everyone I ever tried on was one-way see-through. They exist to prevent people from knowing where you are looking ... if they can only see one of side your face. Kind of like Uldal masks, but sneakier.

Don't put words in my mouth.

There is an inflated amount of entitlement coming from people who want something like their precious epeen grind/lucky number mount that realistically has no reason to fly and was not designed to do so to be suddenly designed to fly because they don't like that other mounts (most with wings/ added attachments at the developers' discretion) are getting the means to do so.

Armor and clothes were always meant to be worn.
