Storyline Reset

I would love to be able to redo the main scenario storylines on my current char. I'd have it so my progress remains in tact due to unlocking titles, and I can simply be able to have the main story quests unlock again. Yes there's the option of doing a completely new toon, but I, and many I'm sure, don't really want to go through the process of re-leveling multiple jobs.

I'd thought about this in the past, too. Granted, I had no idea how to even suggest going about it. The best I ever came up with was allowing players to go into the journal and flag a quest as [REPLAY] in which case it would re-execute the quest flag and treat it as a temporarily repeatable quest. Seems like it might be a lot of work for SE, though, so I didn't get my hopes up XD

Still, it'd be nice. Only the major cutscenes are in the Unending Journey. "Small Talk" and "Fixed Camera" dialogue don't count.

And I sure missed a lot of quest mobs in my bestiary...

I would actually love this as a way of leveling alt classes vs constant FATE grinding. They could make the quests give slightly less exp to make FATEs still desirable but a change of pace would be lovely.

Mechanically speaking it would tricky as you would have to unphase phased areas and unflag/reflag things all over.

Lore-wise it would be easy since the WoL happens to be gifted with an ability that lets them observe and re-experience events without being able to change the outcome.

It would be good to see cutscenes like the one with Cid right after you meet the Emperor, he refernced a name I wanted to look up, but forgot it.

@OP: What would happen if you got a little bored with it and left off? Do you need to catch up before the next patch, or can you jump right back to your furthest progress?

It would be nice since it would significantly speed up leveling.

See, this is why I screencap every piece of story or quest dialogue in the game, so if I want to look up something I just go back looking through my screenshots. :p What name did you want to know incidentally?

Lol ps4 makes that harder. It was right after the shoot out with the Emperor. But before we get on Cids airship to go to Azys Lla for the first attempt. There is a fairly long cutscene with Luciana(sp).

Anyway, right before that, when we meet Cid where he's docked. He greets you or Luciana with a title reference, but its one of those ones thats like "I'm as happy as if I'd seen the Lady of ..." or something like that. I meant to look up.what the name was a referance to but something came up and it slipped my mind. It could mean nothing at all, and it be a non referance, or even some Garlean title.

Hmm, you mean immediately after you meet Emperor Varis for the first time at Ok'Zundu? Lets see...

I think so. I'm not 100% on the timing, more like 95%. But it was in the Sea of Clouds as we borded an airship.

Yeah thats the one. I couldn't find too much info on it, aside from two year old hints at a possible dungeon. Wonder if it means anything or just added for depth. It was the "whos next..." part from Cid btw.

Ah, I presume you mean 'The Keeper of the Seventh Gate' then... which seems to refer to the gate to the Seventh Hell, the deepest part of the.. um.. Seven Hells of Hydaelyn's underworld. Incidentally, a boss battle track from the version 1.0 soundtrack (by Nobuo Uematsu) is called The Seventh Gate (it was used mostly for solo quest battles), and in the lyrics for Titan's theme Under the Weight, you can hear Ferne shouting (amongst other things), "I'll drag you right down to the Seventh Gate!" ;)

Although nothing is known for certainty, if I was a betting cat, I'd say 'Seventh Gate'/'Seventh Hell' is basically an Eorzean euphemism for Hell/Limbo/generic place of evil used when cussing, which would definitely make sense in the context of Cid's exclamation. ;)

Yeah. Thats it. One of my googles suggested that there were multiple NPCs who mention The Keeper.

I'm pretty sure the idea is not only damning someone to Hell in general, but to the Deepest pits therein. I'd need to dig around, but i think it's been said that scholars have actually gone and explored the void,

The void and hell are two seperate things though, are they not?

I thought of that. That's why I was thinking something like every main story quest you complete, you get a title or certificate of some kind that saves your true story progress. Just pick up when you want.

I'd prefer a NG+ mode. Just start the story over again from the start, picking a different god and starting city with your current character.

You mean one could skip the brayflox and moggle portions!?!?!?!

I think I would have to stop at those ones... those bray quests...
