Experiment: Scholar Ultimate shield

Good afternon everyone i came with an idea last night and like to share my thoughts:

how big will be the incoming shield and mitigation if whe apply all the CDs listed below

I couldnt run the test because lack of pepole right now so ill leave the things you need to test it

Party composition

Paladin
-Divine veil 10% shield up to tank HP through
Warrior
-Defiance 25% extra healing
-Convalescence 20% extra healing

Astrologian
-The bole 5% damage reduction if party wide

Scholar
-Fey illumination 25% extra potency
-Dissipation 20% extra potency
-Sacred soil 10% damage reduction

Monk Mantra
-20% extra healing

Method
Cast A Royal road party wide bole
Astrologian heal the paladin to activate the shield
All healing increase CDs posted above
Spam on the warrior Adloquim till critical then Deployment tactics to split it to the party
Lastly Sacred soil


Share the numbers you get so we can pack it for raiding tips and tricks^^

Honestly, doing all this just for a big party shield is a waste of time and cooldowns. By all means, feel free to see what big numbers you can get, but it is of no use in a serious raid environment.

No sand then no ultimate defense :p

There's too much RNG built in. You're relying on a ewer+bole combo, plus having all those cds available at the same time, and a crit adlo.

I wouldn't expect that specific combo to come up except once in a blue moon (every 2 months) of raiding. You might be able to pull it off in the initial pull though, but that's different than using it to survive a huge hit from a boss (where all that reduction is actually useful).

Anyway, great thought experiment at least. Unfortunately, it's just not practical.

its just an experiment, just for fun, he just wants to know how big the mitigation would be.
i'm plenty sure he knows about the RNG/MP stuff.
And now i'm pretty curious too, so if someone have actually something useful to say, then say it please :)

you'd have a 23k party wide mitigation based on a 4180 adloquium crit and an 16000 HP paladin and additionally a -14,5% damage modifier on whatever damage was incoming. Then what?

also btw, card buffs don't get halved when they go AoE anymore.

Since when?

Tried one day how big cure 2 can be done with all buffs up with my alt whm and it heal around 20k if critted(mantra, defiance, conva, fey illumination, divine seal). Maybe scholar can do around 8k adlo(16k shield) with everything up.

Thing is, his last sentence shows that he wants to use it in a raid environment, which is pointless.

The duration is no longer halved with AoE, but the effect of the card is still reduced by 50%. Check the patch 3.07 notes.

That is more or less the theoretical value of what you'd get with that shield. It is a very nice buffer to damage, and could be useful if you want to have the healers dps for the first 30 seconds of a fight. If you want people to actually test it for you or use it in actual raiding and for a move that this will actually help the players survive where they would normally die... you're going to have to make it more practical. As is, this requires the entire party to acknowledge they will die 1 minute before the wipe attack actually happens and so they make a conscious decision to save those buffs to heal and prevent damage. It's a fun change of thought, but not one I see the majority of players embracing.

Tanks and parties are not having problems surviving the big tankbusting hits (they are all wear STR accessories after all), so this combo is actually not needed by raiders. The community in general is focused on increasing damage to meet the DPS checks with less-than-i210 gear. That's probably why there's no interest in this. If it was about increasing outgoing damage or sustaining this kind of damage mitigation throughout the entire fight so tanks could safely equip pentamelded STR belts, you'd prolly get a warmer response.
