Things that should be changed or fixed already (because you haven't fixed it yet)

1. Allow Chocobo to be out to use Duty Finder

2. Tab targeting should be nearest target in front of you NOT left to right disregarding distance

3. The Map (m) should have a zoom function that allows you to zoom close for more details including specific zones and zoom completely out to the world map. (selecting each zone via top left menu just to get to that zone's map is poor design)

4. Remove the recast time on Mudras to compensate for server side lag. (keep the 20 cd on Ninjutsu aka can still only cast Ninjutsu every 20 seconds...)

5. Remove the mount and unmount delay.

6. Allow crafting to pull materials directly from your retainers.

7. Add in a glamour book because you are too stingy/cheap/greedy to give us more retainers without having us to pay monthly fees for them.

8. Increase item stack to 999.

9. Increase armoury space because it's just not enough right now for players that levels every class.

Agreed. I think they absolutely need to at least give us an interface option that allows this thus making people who like the current behavior happy as well.

Isn't there a select a "target nearest to you" button? I keybinded that to my button 3 on mouse.

What I would like they to fix though is to be able to select the target even if you do not see its name on screen. What I meant by this is that even if the monster itself is right in front of you, you cannot use "target nearest to you" button because the size of the monster is a tad big and its name is out of my screen so in order for me to use that button, I have to zoom out to have the monster name available to see on my screen. This is what really annoyed me for a while.

Another thing is that NPC who is behind some sort of structure(in this case, some sort of pole). I see them, but I could not select them unless I angled my screen in order to able to select him.

And lastly is I would like to have an option to disable right click to select player. This is annoying when you try to rotate the camera around but instead you select another player.

Seems that my issues are all about targeting, lol.

I think combat actions are coded in a way a cooldown is required. The solution is to reduce it to 0.1 seconds.

I think Yoshi-P said they were considering this. Retainers work on a separate server, though so I can see constant data transfers causing problems.

If they coded this in the way I assume they did, they can't do a stack above 255 or 127, increasing the cap to 999 would cause character data problems.

With regard to Mudras, I think what the OP means is that only successful Ninjitsu casts should trigger the 20s cooldown. Right now, because of the lag, it is far too common to enter incorrect Mudra combinations (or you actually do it correctly but the game interprets incorrectly), and these failures still trigger the 20s the cooldown. I happen to agree that the penalty for a failed Mudra input is too severe given FFXIV's known network latency issues.

Honestly, I'm tired of data limitations excuses. Something has to give because SE is really holding back the game from reaching it's full potential. They need to take risks and stop playing it safe.

Another thing that still needs to be fixed, rigging in the Triple Triad tournaments. It's become a game of who can log in first and rig to get the most pts. I'd much rather prefer it to be some kind of random DF thing instead, atleast something to stop people from choosing who to battle.

Housing still needs to be fixed.

It's not really an excuse. There's a limit to how much data you can write per second and until we get a new standard, it's not going to see a big increase. Atm character data gets updated every 15 seconds in case of a server failure. If they were to increase character data, the write delay would need to be increased. You will only want them to take the risk until your character data gets rolled back. The moment it happens, the forum is full of "I LOST MY XXX, PLS FIX SE!" threads. The only thing they can say after that is "Sorry, we can't return the lost character data"

I get that but it's like their go to excuse when trying to add things to the game. It's only a matter of time before hairstyles can no longer be added to the game.

Well, tbh, most people would be more than happy with some kind of unlimited chest that can hold ANYTHING, or at least ANY gear (not the shit they call Armoire). That would not need to be updated every 15s, it would just need to be updated when you close the window. So yeah.

Unfortunate, unavoidable character data limitations that SE just can't fix because it's impossible to do so. Unless you shell out extra cash for retainers, then SE can suddenly make it happen just for you. Hmmm...

A glamour book wouldn't need to transfer more data; it would simply be a new kind of armoire, its contents stored separately and only once. The data limitation would then be storage space, but come on. Storage space is CHEAP these days.

Reset timers for cooldowns when the group wipes in raids.

And the main point people forget, is a character, one player in XIV is equivalent to this.

1 FFXIV character=WoW classes Warrior, Hunter, Paladin, Rogue, Priest, Death Knight, Shaman, Mage, Warlock, Monk, Druid, Demon Hunter etc.

Count that 12 classes. XIV currently has 13 classes and 12 DOL/DOH. Now think about this. Imagine if WoW allowed you to play all classes on one character, think about your inventory management then and then come back and understand why it's not as easy as you might think it is.

And that's where that train of thought should just derail for everyone with common sense. IT'S AN INSANELY MASSIVE RESOURCE HOG that is completely and utterly unnecessary. And it's not like there aren't ways to overcome it: let those special-to-craft items have a flag that triggers a save for that character; simply increase it to one minute (or three, it would still be actually sensible); kick those damn AFK characters who are logged in idle for 4-18 hours - just three I can think of at the moment.
It really is mind-boggling that every (second) suggestion gets shot down with "data limitations", and yet nobody seems to think of this one thing, when it obviously is a major contribution to the issue. It's a miracle that no server actually crashed from this incredible amount of writes so far. I have a feeling the change in lag/latency we would see with the easing up on that inventory backup would be so huge that the game would feel like it's on steroids for weeks before we got used to it.
In any case, risk or not, it has to be done. Because this endless flow of "can't do it because of data limitations" answers has already been exhausted and very old for ages. Or is it what we'll have to put up with for the lifetime of the game (it sure seems so right now)? Anyone thinks that's viable? Yeah, I didn't think so either. Things might be hard to do and the team might be small too - I accept those as well, but that doesn't mean those should be "reasons" for not making changes or adding new stuff either. Yet they also seem to be, which is just another annoying factor tbh. Especially when we're being directed to the cash shop / mog station to pay extra for so many things too. Especially when even with that, some major parts are still simply unavailable for us to enjoy COUGHhousingCOUGH.

Considering how much downtime is had these days, I doubt that a 20-30s delay, for example, will really have any consequence more than what a 15s delay already has, and for most content it's trivial to get back to where you were to achieve that. Whereas the amount of time it saves players as a whole to have the inventory expanded upon is probably a far great benefit than any individual setback that may arise.

They also really need to stop cheating us out of inventory space in other places, too. There's no reason for maps to not be stackable, nor is there any good reason to not have scrips have their total cap be not capped at all and have people spend things directly as scrips instead of turning them into tokens first. But they do... I kind of suspect it's a guilty pleasure of theirs at this point.

The ability to sort linkshells without having to leave them.

I think you're greatly exaggerating the amount of players that would QQ over an increased backup time, I don't know what WoW has it set to, but in all my time I've played it I've never lost an item due to a server crash, never knew anyone who lost an item to that, nor have I have seen any threads about it on the forums. If it means we could get a Glamour Journal, or 2-3 times the inventory space I think everyone would be more than glad to make that sacrifice.

I love this game but this is my #1 issue with it - no matter how many apologist white knights tell me the targeting int the game is fine...it's not - it SUCKS no matter how much you tweak it. "Oh you will get used to it." Um, no - targeting really should not be something I have to actively think about (unless it is a marked target) - if I have to "get used to it" then something is wrong with it.

I usually don't have issues targeting things, but i've gotten used to it and adjusted. (insert Lynn is an apologist white knight comment here)

It's really no different, actually. Games where you can be one class still have to account for enough data usage to encompass all potential armor sets and whatnot in the game, regardless of class. Just because one might play a warrior in WoW, for example, doesn't mean that they can't or won't store cloth or leather or mail armor in their inventory/bank/etc (inventory/bank space that gets regularly increased, I might add, without players being asked to pay more for their subscription). This is why account-wide armor appearance saving designs are so attractive, also, as you only save the data once and then it's available to all characters. Whereas in FFXIV, if you have multiple characters with gear stored for glamour, all of those pieces are stored individually.

I certainly haven't gotten used to the targeting system. It still bothers me.

Oh, that reminds. The ability to track more than the 5 or 6 quests that we have the ability to do now, beast tribe dailies can get annoying with opening the journal all the time.
