Lol no but seriously... how do you guys think about having some kind of FF XII technology. I always liked how Final Fantasy could blend Medieval/Fantasy themes with Futuristic technologies.
Look at FF VI, FFX, FF XII ... i may be forgetting other examples.
How about a high-tech city with FFXII style technology? Or with FF VI style steampunk tech.
It could also open the door to new crafting classes.

...Final Fantasy XIV already has advanced technology... You DO know about the Garlean Empire, right? I'm assuming you've played more than just an hour of the game here.
Their technology is seemingly as advanced as FFXII's Arcadian Empire if not moreso, but has the aesthetic design of FFVI's Gestahl Empire -

i cant remember which FF series it was i think it was mystic quest that had cecil travel to the moon the content was much but it was fun. personally i like to see a lost underground kingdom like in the older FF series. but if you also add sea like under water ruins of some ancient race. also floating island and maybe a twist like in FF11's Past you can have up to 8 content areas, present land (current land), underground, sea, sky and past land, underground, sea, sky, which each can be expansion of its own....
for dungeons i think each current nations land (La Noscea, Thanalan, The Black Shroud) should have a 20s & 30s dungeon... having a 10s dungeon might have some worth but excluding a 10s dungeon will help push to achieve and feel accomplished when they are finally able to reach a small goal like being able to go to their first dungeon. then Coerthas should have two 40s dungeons. well you want adventurers to work toward a central nation like Ishgard then adventurer out away from any nation like to Mor Dhona. then i think the first expansion would be Underground, then a sunken ancient sea ruins, then a floating sky island kingdom that might send you to the moon for a dungeon. -

FFXI itself had it (Sky is actually on a Moon/satillite of Vandiel) -

Is it really so far of a stretch to have some underwater facility created by the Garlean Empire for Aikon research?
Hey, maybe Aikons come from the moon and they have a community there...
Or maybe they came from underground, or perhaps that is where they hide now.
Easy to fit all this into the lore of the world and make it interesting. I say go for it. But I also think they need to fix the current game first before we start thinking about all these extra goodies. -

On a more serious note- the game just needs variety. I think that sums up the entire "We need X-area"
In a lot of MMOs, there is a sense of progression... one area looks different than another.... there are different climates, themes etc.... (much like the real world) Currently we appear to have a sand, plains and trees.... It truely is bland.... the sand isn't even really a desert.. the trees aren't really a jungle.. and the plains arent all that rolling....
I think extreme type areas help make it feel like a big world... and yes I think these areas will be unlocked at some point... (probably not the moon thought... ) -

Yes the technology is available but um where is the Empire? Is there an Emperor and his Apprentice? Are they building a Death City laser? Oh sorry wrong game... They did promise that the empire was going to be technologically advanced but they show very little and none outside the cut scenes which is crap I want to fight a mechanodroid ogre or something.

Of all the strange ideas on the forums, I actually like this one. The moon is very much Final Fantasy. I ask that SE does not do throw backs to FFIV or any other previous FFs (at least not from the start). It also allows for stranger creatures. I can dig it... 2 or 3 expansions from now. :D

After having read it, I feel that I just need to walk away. I don't think it's half bad of an idea. The presentation may have been light hearted and silly, but there is a lot of FF history involving Sky, and several games had space tech (xii) and blended it well enough.
Just gonna walk away now..

I think the devs need to focus on game mechanics first, not that Im not for new game contant I just think there are plenty of hurdles ahead of the devs before we see any new content and not to rain on peoples parade, once the kinks have been worked out and everyone is happy, I dont think we will have much say in new game content. Or maybe, you never know, Yoshi-P is the man
