Advice needed from my fellow BLM's regarding AS2

I am finding it increasingly difficult to parse above 1450 (which is my best to date) on AS2, I have read that a blm should be parsing over 1600 for this fight and I feel I am the reason for us not completing this raid.

I currently do the following:
Wave 1 I just kill 1 soldier.
Wave 2 I AOE down using F2's and Flare.
AOE down Wave 3 using the same.
Also same for Wave 4.
Wave 5 I AOE until soldiers are dead, then single target First widow.
Wave 6 I single target hardlhelm, gobwalker, doll, then widow.
Wave 7 I single target both dolls.
Wave 8 I AOE down all soldiers, snipers etc, then finish off dolls.
Final Wave I AOE down soldiers, snipers and LB2, then I single target gobwalker, doll, widows.

The last widow we have not killed yet for the clear, this is an example of our best run. I use cooldowns every time they are up.
Is there anything I could do differently?

I don't play BLM, but as a universal rule you should try recording yourself and reviewing the footage (or posting it here if possible). You may think you're doing X, when in reality you're doing Y, and so on.

I'm kidding. My groups BLM does the same thing as you so as far as I can tell, you're doing fine.

It's possible to do a semi-AoE rotation for wave six and seven with normal F4 rotation that ends with Flare, if you can hit at least three with the Flare.

One thing I've noticed about having both SMN and BLM in A2s -- one tends to steal the other's damage during AoE. One example would the third wave: I could Swift Flare when everything is low and leave one or two mobs for the SMN to Deathflare, or I could just finish the the couple of stragglers after their Deathflare myself.

I do mostly the same as you, but I parsed 1700 without foe's.

Only difference is that I single target the widow and then aoe the soldiers and the next hardhelm on wave 5->6

What's your AoE rotation? Mine is Fire II > Fire II > Flare > Transpose > Fire III > Repeat
And it's the generally accepted answer I think.

I have a question about this rotation: Are you saying you only wait for 1 Umbral Ice tick before the transpose? With full MP I can get more than 2 Fire II's so I don't understand why people do 2 x Fire II > Flare. Are you just doing this over and over and slowcasting Flare? How is this optimal now when in 2.x it was surely inefficient?

Its higher pps to continue doing 2xF2 -> Flare than use T1/B2 as a filler and wait for the second tick, on three or more targets.

This was true in 2.x and is still true.

What I want to know is: How many mobs does it take for Fire II > Fire II > Hardcasted Flare

to be better than: Fire II > Fire II > ... > Fire II > Swiftcast Flare > Transpose > UI > Fire III > Fire II > Fire II > ... > Fire II > Blizzard III > UI rot > Fire III

Everyone opens with 3xF2 -> SC Flare -> Convert -> Flare -> Transpose, so we can just cut that out of the question and look at the rotation afterwards. Assuming 3 mobs:

4xF2 -> B3 -> T1 -> F3
4x3s + 2.5s + 2.5s + 2.5s = 19.5s
4x~540 + ~200 + 210 + ~200 = 2770 potency
2770/19.5 = ~138.46 pps

3xF2 -> Flare -> Transpose -> T1 -> F3
3x3s + 4s + (3s) + 2.5s + 3.5s = 22s
3x~540 + ~1276 + 210 + ~200 = 3306 potency
3306/22s = 150.27 pps

2xF2 -> Flare -> Transpose -> F3
2x3s + 4s + (3s) + 3.5s = 16.5s
2x~540 + ~1276 + ~200 = 2556 potency
2556/16.5s = 154.09 pps

I see. Thanks this is really helpful. I guess now my question is the difference in these two options isn't concrete because you may need to wait a few seconds for a tick after the transpose - wouldn't it be helpful to get used to casting T1 for long-living mobs in order to proc more thunderclouds?

EDIT: nvm I see you've accounted for the transpose wait time (3s in your calculations).

EDIT2: Since I have your helpful attention, here's another question: how many mobs would it take for 1 thundercloud proc on a non-DoT'd mob to be more potency than a Fire II? Or vice versa if a thundercloud proc is more potency by default

It seems like it would be worth it to roll T3Ps on multiple targets, just eyeballing those numbers, in 3 mob situations. A T3P is 710 potency if it runs its full duration.

If you can use a full duration T3P in UI consistently then it seems like the 3xF2 rotation would edge out the 2xF2 for 3 mobs. 4+ just stick with 2xF2 -> Flare.

Back in ARR Flare was always a gain when it hit two or more. Now the treshold just moved up to three.

It's possible to start casting F3 immediately after Transpose, but the timing window for Transpose after Flare is very short. Might need a little more SS to get it reliably. What can also happen is the Transpose goes off before the Flare AF3 hits in and then you're left with no mana and AF3.

A full TC is a gain on three mobs even in AF.

216+180*6+468+421,2+374,4 = 2559,6 over 13,5 seconds = 189,6 pps
216+180*6+710+468+421,2+374,4 = 3269,6 over 16 seconds = 204,35 pps

At four mobs F2 wins out over a full TC by 10 potency, but if you could always TC during the long tick after Transpose, it should be a gain.
