any post 3.0 relic news?

i'm just looking for some info on post 3.0 relic quests (the 'new' relic quests) ?

sorry if it's been asked before - i did use search - yes i'm relatively new to the forum.

thanks in advance and could any info given please be sourced?

It is usually SE's policy to keep these things secret to avoid crashing the market. For instance, if people found out just a day before the patch that Mythril Ingots will be required for the relic, they will be hoarded immediately and resold for insane margins once the patch drops.

So no, we don't know anything other than, "New Relic weapon in 3.1. Please look forward to it."

They showed some EXTREMELY rough drawings of what the new relics might look like for drk, mch, and ast. No images for the other classes, so we have no idea if the relics will be new weapons or some adaptation of the old zeta weapons.

Yoshida then stated that the new relic would start in either 3.1 or 3.15, they haven't decided yet. Based on the lack of artwork and the non-distinct date, I think we still have a while to wait before new relics enter the game.

As for a source, I dunno, go look for videos of the live letter that aired during last week's 14-hour steam. It was during that segment.

My guess is it will be similar to how we got our Relic in 2.0 and future patches.

god, if there's an actual QUEST this time instead of what we got... I loved the 2.0 relic quest, but everything after was so... /meh/.

Give us some good old fights just like how titan became the initial gatekeeper for a lot of people. It was so much fun getting to learn the fights with others.

I'm personally hoping the new relic process won't be exactly the same as the old one.

It's easy to see there will be grinding of some kind involved. There is no reason to assume any of it will be difficult. However, I do expect it to be *expensive* and *time consuming* grind.

I put some thought into what kind of bonus that you get for having the old zeta relics. They said you would get some kind of "bonus" for having it. I'm just guessing but like if you have the zeta, then you can maybe skip the "base" step of the old relic where you have to find a weapon to "host" the new one? This is a wild guess. It could also be that the new host would be the current esoteric weapons but that is wishful thinking as I'd imagine they wouldn't ever gate the relic steps where you could do nothing for 3 weeks until you get a base item. Maybe you can get several different weapons as options for the base for the relic (Such as, old zeta, 3 weeks of esoteric tome turn in for antiquated, and third option might be some crafted *SUPER* expensive something or other).

Just speculation... I can't wait for some info either... I like those pictures mentioned! It looks kinda steampunk-ish.

I agree. Doing Titan HM during launch with my few friends and random folk was fun! Sure, we didn't know anything about the fight back then cause the game just came out, but it was exciting to win.

I would love more of that. I'm not sure how that would work today though. It seems all the new stuff is either super easy or like a brick wall for some (probably cause they expect it to be also super easy).

Before all the nerfs some of the job and MSQ were a tad challenging but that is all gone now.

Prepare for relics to touch 3.0 crafting ( which is a mess atm)

Whatever they do, and regardless of how many steps there, I hope they add in Titan HM just for nostalgia :)

I just hope they dont go too hardcore with crafting requirements. Ive tried, i just cant get into crafting or gathering. theyre too monotonous and choresome for me. want me to farm fates in heavensward? fine. dungeons? fine. let me kill stuff. but please leave crafting to a minimum!

Nothing screams epic relic weapon as sitting in the middle of nowhere for literal hours waiting for a fate to spawn.

Why are people so eager to put effort into a weapon that takes forever to get and gets outdated in a few months time?

After all that effort for 2.0 relics I felt so bad for all the people who actually did it for nothing.

Just gonna end up being an extremely hard to get glamour.

I am really hoping that the 3.0 relic is more like how the 2.0 relic started out. The initial part seemed to fit the work involved for the weapon you were given as a reward. The stream of upgrades that followed seemed less worth the amount of work that needed to be put into them to get the upgrade.

As someone mentioned earlier, the atma portion of the 2.0 relic really didn't seem to fit the "epicness" of the weapon itself.

Relics in FFXI were a much better example of how relic longevity was. Even well after the several expansions Excalibur was still good to have and could be upgraded. YEARS later it wasn't truly replaced. Having an Aegis upgraded was just as good as Ochain.

I wonder if the esoteric weapons will be a required part to build the relic weapons. Like how we had to bind the old crusty weapons we found to a more sturdy weapon for the first relic.

I mean, most people have, or are beginning to work on those weapons right now.

They were all bis if you made it so, also the whiners were idiots who wanted instant gratification using the "I could get a weapon just as good" bandwagon trip fallacy not realising that exact excuse made their complaints even more apparent of their lack of cognitive capability.

FFXIV had lvl 75 cap for years.....even then SE added mythic weapons -_- and that weapons really were a pain in the rear to get.

we knew that HW expansion was coming with lvl 60 gear and that relics werent going to be upgraded.

FFXIV relics are like wow legendary weapons , cool to have for that expansion and while leveling, maybe until 1 raid drop, after that useless.....not even usable as glamour :(

I remember reading somwhere that those relic weapons were never designed to be "the best"
They were basically an alternative to get a better weapon without having to join a static or force yourself through ex primals.

Oh...my...god...does everyone remember this scenario? I am sitting and waiting for Giant Seps.......for three hours.....I missed my whole night of playing the game just to wait for that damn FATE. my entire FC is having fun doing other stuff while I am waiting for a damn FATE. But thinking back on it now...it was not that bad and it made me feel like I accomplished something. I had the worst time with the ATMA step...seriously took 12 days of playtime (4-5 hours a night) without getting the ATMA of the Water-Bearer in Upper La Noscea. All in all the ATMA step I started on 3-30 and got the last one on 4-26. Playing at this time about 6 nights a week averaging 4-5 hours a night...not too bad when you think about it.

My hopes are that they don't do anything like the "LIGHT" step again...oh my god doing frigging Garuda Burn strat and T4...made me never want to run those again. I could not even get my Tank mount out of T4 because I was doing Relic for my Bard.
I would hope for a mixture of Books, ATMA's (not dungeon ATMA's though...that was shit) and they better keep the crafting need to a minimum...I don't want to be spending like 5-10 million on a weapon.

Considering it had taken me over 3 months to get all the damn atma at the time i think the book portion was slightly better, even if i had to wait 4-6 hrs for a darn fate to pop.
Dungeon drops was perhaps on par though, rng was stupid. And crafting... what the heck

I wonder when people will get it in their head that XI and XIV are different games.

Ffxiv won't last nearly as long if doesn't take some ideas from ffxi.

Coil weapons got outdated but at least you could grind it till you won. Then had to a wait a week to keep farming weapons.

And to the other who said I would complain about if armor didn't have to be changed for a year or longer. No I wouldn't.

I was able to use my Lilith Rod Zeta all the way up to lvl 58. Hardly a waste.

Depends on your view I guess.

It took 100s of hours if you did it before they nefted the stages. All for a fancy glowy vanity trophy. By my definition it is a waste as well. Considering you get a better weapon from killing trash in a dungeon that is not even endgame.

Why spend hours slaving and practicing with a static for a coil weapon? They got outdated every 6 months. Why bother getting a relic? They are obsolete now? Why bother getting a tome weapon? They are obsolete in months. Why get ANYTHING in a game that ups the item level cap every 6 mo?

Stop being dense. If you really believed working for an item that becomes obsolete is a waste of time you wouldn't be playing this game. You get it because it's useful when you make it, or glamour, or title, or whatever satisfaction you get out if it. But don't sit here and pretend relics are the only 'waste of time'. This entire game is a rotating door of obsolescence and yet here we all are working for gear every day that will become obsolete. Go rain on someone else's parade. People make relics and like it. Get over it.

Considering Crafting has absolutely no use right now, I hope the new relics will require crafted items, but I don't want it to have anything to do with red scrips.
