So since 3.0 whats most effective and fast way to gain max light effectively ?
Wait for a garuda hm bonus window and spam it like crazy. You can probably do other easier primals as well when they have a bonus. I typically did ifrit, garuda, titan, levi, and mog.
Edit: Google FF14 light. The first result has postings for light windows.
N.than FATEs if there are still people there and FATEs are completed fast. Might need a party depending on class since you need gold IIRC to get light.
Can't you get light while unsynced? I would imagine the best way to get light is find a group of people that want to unsync Final Coil turns, like turn 12? Level 60's can thrash that fight in 4-5 mins with like 1-2 Bennu, even if you have a level 50 weapon for light, and I know when light-farming was relevant you always got the most points from the current 24-man raid and the current coil turns. It might take longer to find a group willing to do this, but I imagine it would be well worth it if you can get a decent amount of one-shot runs in.
If not, put up an unsynced Pony Farm PF and use it for light-farming.
Unless you can't acquire light when you are unsynced.. (i have no idea my relic was done in 2.0)
I really doubt farming primals with light bonus is anywhere near as efficient as it used to be. The only reason to nexus grind right now is for cosmetic purposes, while a tremendous number of new players are running primals either for the first time, or to earn poetic tomes. You're going to end up in a garuda hm that takes too long to enter, and you'll be paired with players who are too weak or inexperienced to do a quick kill. Maybe if your server has lots of people that want cosmetic relics, you can party finder it, but on my server that would be highly unlikely.
If it is something you really want to grind out, it takes 500 fates. Middle La Noscea is one of the best places to fate grind, because the fates are easily soloable by most classes. If you are still leveling to 60, you might want to try equipping your novus while fate grinding in churning mists, since all of those fates count as well. The ilevel 110 weapon isn't the best choice for those fates, but it isn't too unreasonable.
And no, google is not your friend for MANY aspects of FFXIV, since things change considerably over time. Most of the articles about light farm are from a time when lights was 1/4th the current rate, yet everyone was grouping to get it done.
Nope, the only relic stuff you can do while unsynced are the boss kills in the animus books, and the dungeon completion items for the zodiac weapon stage. You receive no light while unsynced, and it's been stated several times in patch notes.
At 60, North Thalanan is a bit slower than middle La no, even with good fate parties. And if you are 53-56ish, Churning Mist is probably the best place, since the xp is a lot higher now than North Thanalan. I guess it depends on which you want more of, light, xp, or GC seals.
Yeah, the 80k seals you need for Zodiac is awful. Better than light, but having teeth pulled is better than light.
I was able to knock out a stage every ~4-6 hours spamming whichever trial was the window. It's repetitive and boring, but I preferred it to killing what would probably have been thousands of 2-8 mobs in Middle La Noscea.
yeah already spent like 40k seals so restocking seals back to 50k then 40 spent
OP dont listen to this. I just finished my light grind. Go to the light window page on reddit (the first google result with ff14 light) and start spamming the easy primals when the bonus windows open. As a healer I got instant queues and 4 minute garuda kills. Add a minute or two for other primals. As soon as that light window opens the df gets flooded with players that can easily carry any new people with little to no loss of time.
do a few dungeons=done? they boosted how much light you get, so i guess you could get it done with some daily roulettes.
supposedly ppl with zeta, will get a boost, and skip first step - but we don't know what this step is - it would be really hysterical if the step is easier than grinding nexus light, and people are making this mad scramble, to get more zetas, atm.
I did middle la nosea fates for my nin. 1400 light (already had 600 from 2.0) and all 12 mahatma for zeta....it is very very boring but extremely easy. I finished those 2 steps in about 4 days of grinding it. My ninja went from 50 to 52 which is almost 2 million xp total doing lvl 3-12 fates....
Anyways, the weapon is still relevant to my nin for another 3 lvls and I'll probably use it for glamour later down the line
Would Aleport be good aswell ?
AND how how do u know how many points u have ?
The Zodiac glass gives you an estimate.

As a point of reference, a FATE gives 4.
I think they have to make it a relatively easy step, or allow people who switched mains to still get the reward. I grinded my Zeta when it was relevant, but I mained Bard for all of 2.0. I switched mains to DRK for 3.0, but we can't do a relic for DRK. Am I going to get to skip this step if I fork over my Zeta bow? Can I use a Zeta bow to skip a DRK relic step? Or am I just screwed? Or does no one know this yet?
The consideration is because you took the time to grind the zeta on that particular Job.
The new Jobs don't have Zeta weapons, so there's no way they'll get that.
It's not like the second relic you grind is easier than the first. The system doesn't give relic compensation if you switch Jobs.
I mean, once you have a zeta you'll get to skip, but it will probably only be on the Job you have it for.
They said recently you'll get to skip a step. We don't know how much that is, but you'll get something.
So, you're saying that SE's stance is because I "switched jobs" then I suddenly didn't put the time in for my Yoichi Bow? I put the time in regardless of which job it was for. I don't think I should be able to trade my Bow in to make a BLM relic any quicker because BLM has it's own relic. I would probably grind a relic for DRK had they added one because all I do in this game right now is raid and cap tomes. It would give me something to do. SE didn't give me this option. So now I get to suffer because my favorite Job to play is one of the new ones??
Skipping a step isn't all that big of a deal for me, but for you to say it so non-chalantly as "there's no way they'll get that" seems a bit ridiculous since they literally gave the 3 new jobs no other options. Bard is unenjoyable for me with the 3.0 changes and I have no plans on ever playing the job again. I will gladly trade the Yoichi Bow that I spent hundreds of hours and millions of gil on to skip a step in the DRK 3.x relic chain.
I'll repeat this again: It's not like I didn't put in the time needed. I did. A lot of it. I'm cool with the bow not being used to skip a DRK step, but it doesn't seem fair for SE to not give the new jobs any options for veterans who did put that time in. The Yoichi Bow can rot in my inventory forever if it ends up needing too, I got my usage out of it when I had it and was happy with it when I used it. But the "consideration" as you put it, should "consider" the fact that I now play a job that doesn't give me the option to pursue a 2.0 relic. That wasn't my design decision, I don't see why I should be punished for it.
Unless they literally make the skippable step just like the first step in 2.0 relic. Going to a random location and finding a piece of junk weapon as a "base". If that's the only thing I would have skipped, then it's not too big of a deal. If the "skipped step" involves any sort of RNG, I'll be an unhappy camper to say the least.
So where else would i able to earn 2k fast beside Middle La ?
That's good and all, but it's really not like they would be punishing you.
It's not like you need to skip a part of the relic quest, it's designed to be done all the way.
And you'll have your bow for if you want to do BRD.
I'm in the exact same position as you, except with a different zeta.
But having the relic be tradeable to help skip for the relic of a different Job is probably not going to happen, nor should it.
It's only really applicable for the new Jobs, but that comes with the territory of going into a Job that doesn't have a relic history.
It would be nice if you can trade it in, don't get me wrong.
But I doubt they'll do that considering there's been no relic catch-up between Jobs before.
I also don't think it makes sense giving a bow as a base for a great sword, and what you did on your BRD shouldn't really mean you deserve something as a DRK.
Regardless, it's just doing the whole new relic quest.
I think we can all assume that the new relic quest won't take as long as making a zeta from scratch.
So the new Jobs didn't really need an option that would've taken longer than than what they're actually skipping.
hmm maybe if you just got the achievement, it will apply to all jobs, cause well...you get lv 60 relic, so i don't think you loose your zeta anyway?
and like you said, new jobs can't get zeta, so that would suck, if they can't benefit from it.
maybe it's like more from the quest/story, so the relevant NPCs can get to work on the wep, right away, instead of *getting them up to date*
but the step, is probably not a big deal anyway, so it probably won't matter much.
No, a Famitsu interview.
Doesn't sound too significant.Quote:
Are you still planning on having some kind of benefit to current holders of Zodiac Weapons Zeta?
Yoshida: There will be some kind of incentive granted to them when the new chapter begins. For example, the opening part will be divided into several phases, and you may be able to skip a stage.
Maybe for the achievement it might make sense.
But they usually like tie things to lore and achievements are more meta.
I don't think it's a big deal if you switch to a new Job and you have to go into the relic quest fresh because you're playing a Job that doesn't have the same history the others do.
They already said the new relic won't be as grindy as the old one was.
Not sure I entirely believe them, but the way it sounds it's going to be a minor convenience.
-coughs- Guys your taking my post off topic >.> i also asked a question and not single answer ..
Ok, I guess we will just have to agree to disagree then.
Yes, using a Bow to make a Greatsword makes no sense at all - agreed.
I don't feel like I deserve anything on my DRK. I already said, had they introduced a 2.0 relic for DRK I would have pursued it.
They didn't. Regardless of whether or not I "need" to skip anything, I did the pre-requisite work required to receive it. I finished a Zeta. You can't say "there's been no relic catch-up Jobs before" because this is the first expansion. Idc what FFXI did. New team, new game. If anything, the only evidence of anything we had was SE introducing Ninja near the end of 2.x cycle and extending the relic quest to them. They could have said no relic for Ninja but they didn't. Not making relics for the 3.x Jobs makes sense because why revert and make functionally "old" content when working on the expansion right? But now they have wandered into the area where they have to make a choice. You and I are not the only people in this predicament I'm sure. They either tell us that we don't get jack-shit because we switched Jobs, or they tell us we can do what I proposed because they literally left us with no other options. This would not be a problem for me at all if they had just given me a way to achieve the skip.
I don't see how you can't view this as a punishment? I did the exact requirements needed to skip a step. I switched to a Job that doesn't have a relic. My punishment of not being able to skip a step is solely caused by my choice of playing one of their highly touted new Jobs. Had I stayed Bard, I would be able to skip the step. Again, this is not about me "deserving" anything, it's about the fact that they left me with absolutely no way to "earn" the skip. Big difference. I'm willing to put the time in, SE wasn't willing to give it to me. Especially with a 3-4 month time period between 3.0 and 3.1. They could have done something.
But yeah, sorry OP I won't derail this thread any more. Maybe I will start a new one for discussion.
Working on my second zeta, been grinding fates in Northern Thanalan while queueing for primals. The windows when I play have been terrible for the last few days though, so mostly it's just soul-crushing fate grinding.
Also, alex maps (75 poetics each) give gentle light, so I do those whenever I can to break up the fate grind.
have been following the thing and YET Zodiac Glass havent updated (did like 5-6 run of firit HM and not a single upgrade
Not sure why you even want to do it? Seems like the old relic was a year long grind just to keep people busy before HW. And then they replace it with a totally different weapon.
So glad I decided not to go the relic route when I started this char in May.
Cause i already have 60's and yet got bored and decided to take Ninja and do the acual lvl 50 content's (You HAVE to do Pharos for 3.1 tbh :P)
Also possible to increase the light on fate farming (500 is kinda boring) :(
It's been known as a grind and nothing is going to change. For Nexus Lights farm, I personally prefer dungeon roulettes (Levelling) and I was done in 3 days. That was as a 50+ Paladin and its almost insta-queue all the time.
