All that changed is that you now get an average of 140 favor items in 4 hours a week compared to 11 hours. The fundamental issue is still here. Crafters can only make a maximum of two 2 star items a week after doing 4 hours of favors and getting capped on scrips for both Crafters and Gatherers.
If this is the future of crafting, then it's looking very gloomy. It doesn't especially help that there are no useful items to be crafted either.
Only i180 gear should require red scrips, nothing else! Everything else should be uncapped and bought with blue scrips.
Fix this awful system, Square. We've been patient enough.

U need to be more positive imo this an AMAZING update.
I finished my bsm set + 3 accessories before this update and damn was i burnt the fck out from 11+ hours of gathering.
It was freaking ridiculous but now both parts feel pretty equal 5-10 mins of gathering to make 1 2star base material.
Im sure they will nerf the reqs etc for turn ins but ofc i agree beig limited to 2 major pieces a week is lame but still this means they r still improving it so its better than nothing.
Now i feel like favors is actually something a casual can do while waiting for DF vs committing 15mins of solod gathering. -

Why should I be positive? Crafting is as bad as it was before. I'm still limited to a finite number of 2 stars a week.

Now, we have gathering that's under even more of a time crunch then before -- with the exact same final output, except even more subject to RNG. Straight math people: the larger the sample size, the closer you get to the average. Cut the time to 1/3, cut the sample size to 1/3. Average serverwide/gamewide will work out, because the sample size is (SE hopes) huge. Your individual average? NOT the same thing. Streaks happen.
Now, those of you who point out that tripling the spawn rate will balance out those bad streaks .... not as much as you think. You'll still have your 0 node pops; just like you can have 8 80% failures in a row.
We'd hoped for fixes, not ramming the original favor system on speed... -

Favors have been 'improved', fixed is subjective to what each person ideally wants for themselves. There is no 100% fix for most things in this game (if not all things), favors included because people have different opinions on what they want to see happen. The latest favors change however is a very good thing for many people here, a good 'improvement'.

On average you're still going to get 3-4 favor items per favor, giving you enough for 1.5-2 turn ins. If they were to signifcantly increase the yield more than it is, we'd have more gathered favor items than we would have crafting tokens.
The problem from my end was that I had to spend 15 minutes for one favor. That's 90 minutes on average to get enough materials to spend one crafting token to make one crafting material. Whereas the actual crafts themselves use anywhere from 3 to 5 of those materials. The amount of time you needed to invest between teh two was utterly skewed, and the 15 minutes made it not ideal to do your favors inbetween queues...or really do anything inbetween because now you have to spend the full 15 minutes just slamming away at the nodes. -

You don't need gear for favors, once my miner hit 60 and I could purchase favors I started doing botanist favors at 56. Access to lvl 60 nodes/red scrips are all that's required

True true, my personal plan of attack at 3.05 was to just buy the main tools with tokens and craft the rest which was quickly derailed when one of my friends got his pickaxe which only increased his gathering on folklore nodes 3% higher than mine, plus the tremendously low perception cap for collectibles made me think "why even bother?" . the crafting however is different, higher the stats get closer we get to macro crafts again lol

The small amount of things you can craft per week is a feature of the system, not a bug. It's why it hasn't gone away.
I don't like it either, but they're pacing the rate you can make high level stuff with the rate you can get high level stuff through tomestones. -

Reduced time investment means that more gatherers that balked at it before are going to give it a shot.
More gatherers using favors means that more material is going to make it to the marketplace.
More materials on the marketplace means that the prices will go down, and crafters will find buying materials to be more of an option.
For the entirely self-sufficient crafter who gathers it all herself and crafts it all herself, her per-week output has not changed. But even for her, she now only need to spend a third of the time gathering. That, all by itself, is pretty awesome, even if you discount the above points.
Sounds like an improvement to me. Time will tell. -

You'll only have maybe 80% chance at the favor item but nothing a Field Mastery 2/3 won't fix.Quote:

I've used 14 favors so far today and managed to get 39 black swan feathers, 1 mute swan feather, 3 yellow roundstones, and 19 yellow ooids.
58 regular items for 70 minutes of gathering isn't bad at all compared to what we got before so I'm not complaining. It's an improvement for sure. -
