Spiritbonding Heavensward crafting accessories...

I made a set of crafting accessories to spiritbond:

Holy Cedar Ring (x2) = Level 52 iLevel 70
Yeti Fang Earrings = Level 52 iLevel 70
Holy Cedar Armillae = Level 53 iLevel 80
Holy Cedar Necklace = Level 54 iLevel 90
Holy Rainbow Apron = Level 54 iLevel 90

I can't freakin find out what mobs increase spiritbonding progress on these items. I tried: Level 59 mobs, Level 54-56 mobs, Level 50-52 mobs (HW mobs), Level 48-50 mobs (ARR), and level 50 dungeon mobs (Castrum Meridianum). All items are still at 1% bond that it defaults to when first used, and for each test I killed about 10 mobs.

Please please don't tell me that we can't spiritbond HW crafting accessories through battle...

its probably faster to spiritbond ilvl 10-30 stuff, if you are looking for t1+2 materia.

I have had several people tell me that you cannot SB HW crafting/gathering gear outside of crafting and gathering. If you try to do it in combat it will sit at 1%.

From the looks of it, this appears to be true. I figured since I went ahead and made a set, I may as well go through to see what it's like. Since I'm actually crafting to SB, I also made an entire set except for MH and OH, so I'm SB'ing 11 items at once. I spent a long time just farming crap to craft, which in this case was dark chestnut logs so I could quick synth spam dark chestnut lumber. I farmed 500 NQ logs (and also got 105 HQ in the process), and I quick synthed 100 dark chestnut lumber (5 logs to 1 lumber). I did this with a spiritbond potion active, and my gear progressed to 34% spiritbond.

So basically, in order to spiritbond crafting gear, you're going to have to craft 300 items (with a spiritbond potion active). This means you'll have to farm/gather/buy 1500 items because most of heavensward single or two mat crafts take 5 items (6 in some cases like mythrite nuggets), so 300*5=1500. And that's just the raw mats, don't forget your crystals! It's 3 or 4 crystals per craft (4 in the case of dark chestnut lumber), so 4*300 = 1200 crystals. So you need to gather or buy a total of 2700 items in order to spiritbond a set of heavensward crafting gear.

Yeah no thanks, the better option buy FAR is still to craft 45-50 ARR items and go spiritbond them through battle somewhere like Urth's Gift (where I see some gil farming bots doing just that RIGHT NOW on Mateus).

SE - wasn't the whole issue with leveling crafting at Heavenward release that people were still doing ixals + Saint Coinach leves to level at 50+, so that it was nerfed so people had to level in Heavenward by doing Heavensward content? Wasn't it a real problem that people were grinding FATEs in Northern Thanalan well into their 50's because heavenward FATEs just simply didn't offer enough EXP reward for the time, and again you wanted people doing Heavensward content so you buffed FATE exp? That's the EXACT SAME PROBLEM right now with crafting materia. It's WAY better to obtain them by crafting ARR items and SB'ing them in ARR areas.

It's way more effort to SB crafting materia in Heavensward gear - so it would make sense to me that you should make similar changes in regards to SB'ing Heavensward crafting items.

PS. Since I'm 1/3 of the way there and I have no other use for these items I'm going to go ahead and finish it out, and I'll let you know what kind of materias I got for my efforts.

This is true, doesn't work killing mobs unless it is battlecraft gear - I craft/equip HQ crafting belt/neck/earring/bracer socketed with a materia and go pick something useful in a HW zone with the +3 rings and spirit bond potion.

I've found that Cedar Lumber/Logs give the exact same SB progress on all items as the dark chestnut lumber. Very interesting. I also verified however that pre-HW items do NOT increase SB progress on my heavensward items (tested on level 41 Basilisk Whetstones and also on level 50* Spruce Lumber).

So if we're looking at the least amount of effort involved, I think it actually would be Mythrite Nugget --> Mythrite Rivets:
5 Mythrite Sand, 1 Mythril Ore = 750 Mythrite Sand and 150 Mythril Ore and to make 150 Mythrite Nuggets. 1 Mythrite Nugget = 1 Mythrite Rivet so you can then go 150 Mythrite Rivets to get 300 crafts for the full SB, and you've used 900 gathering items + 900 ice crystals for a total of 1800 items, opposed to the 2700 I need if I was doing it all with Dark Chestnut Lumber, or the 2400 I would use if doing it all with Cedar Lumber.

That's a lot of freakin effort still. Maybe I should wait until item conversion yields V materias? But these are item level 70-90 items so they probably wouldn't or extremely rarely would give V materias. Still feel like it's much easier to get IV materias by crafting ARR items and SB'ing in Urth's Gift or something...

I heard spiritbonding the accessories you mentioned have low chance for grade IV and more on grade II. If you want to SB something with better chance for grade IV, the lv55 NQ Ramie set from Moghome is recommended or much better if you can craft HQ of the same thing.

If I'm going to go for III's and IV's, I'm going to buy gear in Mor Dhona and make stuff. Preferably something that can then be turned in for a Leve, to help recoup some of the cost.

Actually if you went through the trouble to farm 500~ of an item:
With double melded on level 55 equipment it takes roughly 600-700 items to fully spiritbond iirc.

I dont get this. Even before HW Urths fount was a terrible choice because it offered no item drops at all. Now its an even worse choice since lvl 55 equipment has a waaaaaay higher rate on tier IV's then lvl 50 items do.
You just have to gather to spiritbond.


Getting tier IV's is so ridiculously cheap and easy right now. (if you got a 50+ gatherer) But if people keep saying that the best way is ''still 47-50 gear and urths found'', then im not at all surprised people still keep the Tier IV prices at 100-200k+ (depending on server, naturally).


Because hell, thats some misinformation. Buy a set from moghome, go gather (meld them first if you care about your time somewhat) --------> $$

Here's why SB'ing ARR items for crafting materia through battle is easier:
1) It actually takes less effort to make the gear than it takes to make Heavensward gear
2) Once the items are made, I'm already ready to start fighting stuff to gain SB on ARR items. This will takes less than hour to complete. If I'm crafting heavensward items to gain SB, I have to gather at this point. And it's going to take me 2-3 hours to gather that much stuff at best. And then after they're gathered, I finally have to craft 300 things which takes time as well. I'm looking at ~4x the amount of effort in time to spiritbond crafting items in heavensward compared to spiritbonding ARR crafting items through battle.

I'm going through the process RIGHT NOW and I'm sharing my findings. Please show me where my misinformation is. Trust me, the WHOLE POINT of this thread is for me to learn how to do it better so I'd love for you to tell me! Tell me how long it takes YOU to gather enough mats to craft 300 heavensward items (including crystals! - and yes, I am doing that through Aetherial Reduction which is the best way to get them!). And then tell me how long it takes YOU to spiritbond ARR crafting items through battle (I can do it in under an hour!). In my experience, that never was true.

Crafting gear turns into crafting Materia.
Gathering gear turns into gathering Materia.
DoM gear turns into combat Materia, resist Materia, Spell Speed Materia.
DoW gear turns into combat Materia, resist Materia, Skill Speed Materia.

In that, Combat Materia are the red Materias ... Determination, Crit rate, Str/Int/Dex/etc. stats, and so on.

None of that is affected by what is melded to the gear.

The most efficient way to spiritbond now is to either craft ilvl 45-49 gear and go to Urths Font with an AoE job at 60. If the gear is HQ and 1 materia (2 materia for ilvl49), it will take roughly 30 mins to spiritbond a set of gear. If you want to stay in Heavensward, you can buy a set for Moghome and gather something worth your time to gather and sell or craft into something else to sell. Either way you want lose gil it will just depend on how much time you want to invest. You basically have to have a battleclass at 60 or a gathering class at 56 (fishing is too slow imo but you can still catch certian fish to sell).

The 45-49 gear only has a 10% chance for Tier IV materias tho. Compared to a 75%~ on the moghome items.

No. Type of materia is dependant on the type of equipment. I would have taken you knew this, otherwise you wouldnt mention SBing via combat?

I dont remember the exact number, but it takes around 600 to 700 gatherings (with 2x SB boost, via melding and similar) to spiritbond one set. You can get about 600 items per hour in HW. So it takes a bit over an hour (lets say 70 minutes) to obtain one fully bonded set.

In order to obtain the same net amount of tier IVs you would need to be able to meld one set in 10 minutes at Urths Found.
You would also need 7 sets of 45+ compared to 1 set of 55.



Also, materias obtained are entirely dependant on the item equiped. Crafting equipment still gives crafting materias, even if you bond them via combat, or gathering.



It takes 30 minutes to SB one 45 set at Urths found. It takes 2.5 times that long to SB one set in HW. With the base conversion rates at 10% vs 75% that means your looking at a 30% payout in Urths, compared to a 75% payout in HW.



Now personally Id like to see way cheaper (crafting) Tier IVs. As people for some reason sell them at the before HW prices. I believe part of the reason is because people keep saying ''Urths found go!'' when its actually a really poor way, and theres a much better/faster way to SB for Tier IV's in HW. One that can also net you a few hundred K's in the process.

Has never been the case, that was just baseless speculation.

I finally trudged through and finished spiritbonding my set.

1000 cedar logs, 500 dark chestnut logs, and 1000 wind crystals later, and this is what I got:

Craftsman Cunning III (+3CP) x4
Craftsman Competence III (+5 craftsmanship) x3
Craftsman Cunning IV (+4 CP) x2
Craftsman Competence IV (+6 craftsmanship) x2

And as consolation I guess: 200 cedar lumber, 100 dark chestnut lumber. But overall pretty crappy, not even 50% rate of IV's.

From what I've read, each melded materia increases spiritbond gain by 20% so I'll definitely try that next time to see how that compares to spiritbonding ARR items through battle.

Even reducing the farming amount I need by 40% considering melding materia it's still looking like Urth's Gift is the better way to go.

I think you're just confused. I know full well that crafting gear gets me crafting materia, and that gathering gear gets me gathering materia. I want crafting materia, so I made crafting gear. I can't craft out of thin air. I need to gather materials to craft. In this case, I'm gathering cedar logs to craft cedar lumber to get the 300 crafts I needed to SB my crafting gear that I wanted turned into Crafting Materia. I crafted 100 dark chestnut lumber and 200 cedar lumber, so I had to first gather 1500 logs to achieve that. WAY higher than your 600-700 figure that I don't know why you're still throwing around. I first mentioned battling because in ARR you can (still) SB crafting and gathering gear through combat. I was very dissapointed to learn that they changed that for HW content.

You equip the crafting gear while you gather....you do not gather then equip and craft. Crafting gear will SB while you gather.

If you are actually gathering items you can use to craft then you can SB one set while gathering, then another set while you craft. Also, it takes 200 items to craft if you equip 2 meteor rings, FC buff, SB potion, and a meld.

That's the bombshell that I've completely missed. Wow, thank you, I figured since I couldn't combat to SB, I couldn't SB crafting gear while gathering either and that I was locked to craft SB only. Everything Aeyis has been saying makes much more sense now. Sorry!

Each melded materia increases SBing rate by 25%. (100+25+25, for 150%, in case of 2 materias) HQ adds another 25%.


Moghome left side equipment has a 75% chance on tier IV's and a 25% chance on tier III's. Altho thats a generous estimate. In my batches (of 6 items) I got either all Tier IV's or one tier III and 5 tier IV's. One time I got 2 tier III's and 4 tier IV's.
Compare that to a full set (13 items) of 45+, where you may or may not even see a single tier IV.


On your crafting numbers. 300 is accurate. HQ+SB potion provides more or less the same amount of bonus as 2 materia melding would. For all my math I assume 2x materia melds (or HQ+1x materia meld), as thats typically the most cost/time effective to use when SBing.


1500 logs would have SBed 2 sets of gear, which would have granted you about 10 tier IV's on average. 2~Less if you opted to use a gathering chest instead of crafting chest.
With those numbers in mind, do you understand why I consider ''Urths found being best for SBing'' to be misinformation?
Sbing in HW is far superior if you are after tier IV's.



Note that this rate of IV's only applies to moghome leftside, other HW crafting equipment has very poor rates for IV's for some reason.

Would it be possible that you equip your craft accessories to your gathering trip and see if they increase the spirit bond that way? To me it seems you only confirmed they won't increase through battle this far.. or can't they be equipped by gather class?

Only after Rath explicitly mentioned that CRAFTING gear gains SB points while GATHERING in HW. Something I was completely oblivious of, and rightfully so I would say! In ARR we can SB anything simply through battle. When that didn't work for HW, what other conclusion would I make then to think that my crafting gear could only get SB'd through crafting - and similarly gathering gear SB'd only through gathering?

With that in mind, all of your points now make complete sense, and I apologize for the misunderstanding. I'll try again soon and this time I'll gather with my crafting gear on. Question though - since my gathering stats will be very poor and I'll probably miss a lot of swings, will I still gain SB on the nodes/swings that I don't get any items?

I dont remember if I ever confirmed that. I will test it, since im online anyway. Previously I assumed it would not SB on a miss.


Result:
Missing doesnt increase SB. So you can SB with the gathering chest equiped, or take the 20%~ extra miss chance. As far as net gain goes it shouldnt matter much. It might be less annoying to miss less, tho.

Spiritbind in dungeons, or fight Sphinx in Azys La, near the Lab entrance, they also sb gears.

This is a question about favors and SBing. Can I wear all SB gear while doing favors or should I have gp accessories and a minimum gathering and perception?

There is no minimum requirement for favors. I would still use GP accessories tho (with the usual + gathering, etc), as accessories have a poor drop chance on high grade materias anyway.

I actually regularly SB the holy cedar / rainbow cloth crafting gear, and I've gotten about a 50% rate on grade 4s, 50% rate on grade 3s with those items.
