So currently it is revealed the mysterious ship in the sky is the new 24 member raid and it is some kind of Ghost Ship Thing.
Anyone want to speculate what to expect?

Here's a pic of it:

I think it might be a relic/ warship from the War of Magi. We're finding out that there were Void mages at the time
You know, if there's one thing I really like about this game is that it feels heavily influenced by FFVI. War of the Magi. The Warring Triad. Magitek. Love it and looking forward to this raid.
It can still be unique. After all the War of the Magi (despite having the same name as FF6) was a war between Amdapor (WHM) Nym (SCH) and 3rd Nation (BLM)
Me got all interested now !!! Warship -drools- maybe airship combat raid ?
Disappointing. I was hoping for something like the Borg.
With the RMT bots being reported on other servers, it would be pretty relevant.
LotA was fun trash?
But really, laying out "Oh, it'll just be trash-boss-trash-boss" and saying that is stupid is kind of being a little unfair. Every single encounter is going to be like that. Because there's honestly no other way to do a dungeon. What about the aesthetic, the gear, the mechanics? All of those matter.
Not really. There are plenty of things that they could do to change the formula some. One simple example is to split up and randomize the 3 groups when they first arrive. Group A has to hold a control room as adds continuously spawn which risk being overrun if left at it too long. Group B has to fight for panels then hold them which will open up door for assault team C to push through some trash and eventually a mid-boss.
There are plenty of ways that they can mix up the formula but I'm not expecting them to do so after seeing Alexander. I full expect it to play out identically to how all three Crystal Towers did.
Sorta looks like there's a bunch of coffins dangling from the underside, so lots and lots of undead enemies?
Comparing it to Alexander is unfair as their objectives for the two are completely different. People wanted a "story mode Coil" and that's exactly what we got. An E3 interview seemed to insinuate that the new 24 man raid won't be as linear as CT.
I think it's fair to expect something more than just a reskinned WoD given that statement.Quote:

After delving into our memories following our escapades in the Crystal Tower, Archmagus Noah realizes that we are responsible for the greatest loss of life Eorzea has ever known (I'm at 184,931 kills, gotta get that 200k achievement). She attempts to save the planet by putting two of every creature into the enormous Void Ark, with the goal of hiding the Ark within the Void until the Warrior of Light has finally ended their quest to eradicate life in search of Allagan tomes. Unfortunately, the WoL's murder senses start tingling, and we hijack the Void Ark to ensure that not a single loot table remains unexplored.
Actually it's more because alexander is designed with little trash mechanics and just has a focus on bosses, If a raid doesn't have interesting trash why would an easy mode 24 man? Ever since Pharos Sirius SE have been skimping on interesting ideas and a reasonable difficulty curve because a large portion of the community is too lazy to deal with anything that doesn't involve mass pull and aoe.
Well the reason for the simplified Crystal tower was when they first made the thing in the very beginning before release it was "too difficult" and a lot of the fights were similar to the Atomos part in LotA where one group would wipe everyone else if they didn't do their job. Following on from that they nerfed it all down before release (which delayed it until late and everyone was already past the i80 gear it provided) Subsequently they made ST much easier and added a small amount of difficulty back in WoD. Considering now that everyone is level 60 and likely to have completed most of the MSQ they can ramp the difficulty back to something closer to what they first imagined (considering people should now be more capable due to the harder dungeons/normal mode alexander)
At least that would be what I look forward to, then I remember back in LotA when wiping on Behemoth was pretty much guaranteed in 9/10 runs due to people being unable to do the simplest of things perhaps keeping it mind numbingly easy is better....
Oh well hopefully it'll last a while as there's pretty much nothing to do for progression besides raiding and i guess crafting if ur doing 2 stars.
But im sure it'll last 2 weeks before ppl hate it like neverreap and fractal.
Coffins on the bottom o.O
Vampires? =O
Some sort of vampyric class?
Maybe
Samurai
Void mage
Vampire
=D
Who knows!
lets just hope they added a token system for this new ct aswell. i dont ever wanna see that old ct RNG madness crap ever again. needing around 100 runs to see tank body drop ONCE was disgusting and over the top RNG. it also lead to people leaving after boss x if it didnt drop thier needed piece instead of finishing because they needed that piece.
i really hope it has tokens aswell just like savage and normal alex and ex modes does. these system are WAY better and fair than the old RNG crap we had.
Void Ark seems to further back up my theory of the eidolon Ark I have mentioned before. If take void to be equivalent of shadow then I might have been right on the money since Ark in previous games was flying shadow type eidolon akin to Alexanders ground holy type.
I just wish Trash Loot was like trash loot in Everquest which some times was harder then the named themselves and dropped special pieces of loot. Of course, no loot in the game is special so it doesn't matter. =P
