Have the rules changed regarding transfers? If so, where would I find them?
Situation:
Play-style: RP
History: 3 members transferred to unofficial RP server - no issues
Current: next member has error: "Characters cannot be transferred to Worlds with restrictions on character creation."
Timeframe: Today
T.I.A.
Confirm: No transfer possible

Maybe the server you want to transfer to has new character creation locked, thats why you can't transfer?

Try again at offpeak hours. Balmung is especially difficult to get into and sometimes only unlocks in the small hours of the morning.

Ha! So much for bypassing the charater creation in overcrowded servers by paying for a transfer, as asserted in so many threads.

However, I was told that it is the way it works: You can't create a character, but you can transfer one. And, as we found out, even though that doesn't make any sense, sure enough it worked that wayQuote:

If Balmung is that hard to get onto why don't the RPers go to a underpopulated server instead of trying to stay on a Legacy server that was already pretty full to begin with? I understand in the beginning of 2.0 RPers on Balmung couldn't leave but that restriction is gone so why not find a more open server?
Hell that would even help to satisfy the need for housing & what not.
Doesn't make sense to me why people keep trying to cram more characters on a server that's already filled to the brim.
Going to a underpopulated server seems like it would benefit everyone,
New RPers can get on no problem while friends of the Legacy players that were on Balmung can actually start playing with their friends.
Another reason why I think SE should offer a free one time transfer to help encourage a move like this. -

It's not enough that your merry band of friends are doing it, it is the interactions with others that are also engaged in doing it. So, picking random server "X", so you can all be together doesn't rate. FF seems to be a rare bird that does not designate RP servers, something I do not understand as they offer marriages. >.<Quote:

What you are saying is the equivalent to: "I don't see why you can't just pick a server and PvP in your own little group. Why do you need to be around other PvP'ers any way?" RP and PvP are two playstyles in which community is a heavy factor. Hope this explanation helps. -

An old WoW guild mate who is playing FF said maybe I can try after world maintenance around 2-3 AM. Did my research and saw most of the time they get back up earlier than the stated time, can be as much as an hour (they tend to end 7AM my local time). Waited for the day, set the alarm for 5:45AM, started trying. Think it was around 6:30ish that I saw them come up and bingo, at that point, ALL worlds were wide open. Got right in.
I suspect it may take them ~5 mins after they come back up to "re-apply" the restrictions. This MAY be the only way going forward... until/unless they do some re-engineering to avoid such issues (hate to say it, but Blizzard has this under control... when the current xpac dropped, they picked up 3-4 MILLION subs (clocking in at 10 million) and were totally swamped, folks were getting "your are 4,567th in line to get in." After 2 days of that, I was not seeing such messages, although it did take another 5 days or so for EVERYONE to get in w/o a queue. -

I bet if you got the topic buzzing again you would get an answer, but like I said above I think its hard for the RP community to break away from Balmung in general cause it's the server branded into the brain as "The RP server".
