This. But to answer OP's question its most likely the update. SE wants us to use the materia stuff to buff our gear up so we can attack like we used to. I'm sure we are all going to start out week. Havent downloaded the patch yet but thats my guess as to whats up.

Come on, guys! This isn't funny at all! Gladiator got downed way too much. And the damn autoblock doesn't always work. Before patch it was quite fun to play GLA, but now it doesn't work neither as an offender or as a tank. It's really weak! WTF!!

Btw, all my gear is quite to rank, I just finished a really easy behest (before I could finish in less than 4 minutes with speed bonus), now it almost took 10 minutes and I barely was alive at the end!!! Just when I was feeling confident as a tanker....now I'm a total wuss???!!

As I said: no fun at all!:mad:

Yeah....i'm lvling my glad now. I did some leves earlier, had to do them 2 stars lower than what i was doing before the patch...which made the mobs 1 lvl below me. This was after i died twice. Wtf. The mobs take forever to kill. And my stats are way better than what they were before but it sure doesn't show :x

Though i will admit, it was kind of broken before when my glad was invincible 90% of the time lol.

I think this is SEs version of making the game more fun/challenging? Enjoy.

Yep, I can't complete leves that had no problem with before.

I am still at work now, so I cant test the patch yet. But I am really curious on how SE visioning the battle system and leveling curve now. it seems everything is harder (especially on lower rank) , while we accustomed by "easy" leveling for almost one year...maybe SE consider adding more content on low level?

all of my gear is my level give or take a couple of pieces being 2 levels above me, my weapon is my exact rank however.

With all due respect, my friends, try doing any of your old leves at 5 star rank, then come back and honestly tell us, if you haven't noticed any issues.

If you're past 35 and still using your "dated" gear, there's your problem. Your performance is greatly gear based now and will need materia.

notice the level 50's have almost 3k HP in the screens now?
That also translates to everything including accuracy etc etc.

I think they mention about growing curve according to rank. My rank 50 classes DoW/DoM/DoH got so much HP now, 2500-3500. lot of MP, and Mp syphon drain 400 Mp lol!

Afraid so, just imagine all the people who has the wards full of "dated" items, and even worst, those who just bought new high lvl gear a couple of days ago (like myself), just to find out that now is totally useless.

Though there may be a little ray of hope, MAYBE the dated gear we own can somehow be used in the materia process to craft better gear. Lets wait and hope for better.

It's like we've been reverted to FFXI standards of character growth.

The dated PGL weapon I'm using does show it's gaining soul, but if it's hopeless trying to kill mobs with it, then there isn't any reason to keep it around in my opinion. I guess I better write down some of the new recipes and start replacing what I can.

Honestly, I'm too upset to keep playing the game right now, but I've read somewhere that your gear can gain soul by killing low lvl mobs, then when full you can extract materia but loose the item; and so the higher the lvl of your gear, the better quality of your materia (bigger stats). I'm not sure about this, so I'll give a try in the next days. I'm really too angry to even think about FF14 anymore.

Means grouping will be much more enjoyable. -To me-

They just destroyed the game for soloers, to pissed off to even care now. Cant wait for skyrim.

I often find that a good night's sleep and 2 days later helps to cool off even the hottest anger.;)

Did people forget that the gear you are wearing is outdated, and not using any new gear or Materia? I guess so.

TL;DR version:

Materia needs to be done. Stats are rebalanced, gear matters and targets matter.

Why does it surprise you that Gladiator is being gimped before Paladin is released?

Huh, I was really not expecting the previously existing gear to become "gimp" (and please tell me it is only crafted gear that is gimp now!). I thought it would just fall out of favor and general use because:

1) the materials to make it will eventually be all used up, and the game's population is currently quite small
2) c'mon, look at all that shiny new gear! And tell me you still want to wear that R36 velveteen gear at R46. ;)
3) you can make materia out of it, and I'm sure a lot of use are sick enough of some of our old gear to do that

I am beginning to feel like SE gimped my character this patch, and now I have to work at "fixing" her with new gear/materia.

But as always, I will reserve my judgement until I have more experience. Perhaps I have misunderstood the situation, I shall have to see.

Seems like there's some further adjustments to patch on the way... Emergency patch perhaps.
