anyone tried heavensward on windows 10 retail client yet?
Works fine, I am in game on a windows 10 pro (non-technical preview) right now
im still waiting on them to give me my free win 10 lol
Yeah, been working perfectly fine for a few builds now.
You can force Windows to upgrade:
1) Navigate to: C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download -- Change the 'C' if you designated a different drive for your OS.
2) Delete -everything- in the folder. BAM! So shinyclean!
3) Open Windows Update and admonish it for being so lazy! (keep that window open in the background while you show it who is boss)
4) Open an administrator command prompt (right click, Open as admin blah blah)
5) Type this! : wuauclt.exe /updatenow
6) PROFIT! But for srs, Windows10 upgrade should start downloading. If you get an error (Mine was 'Unable to update, 80246010. Just start from step one again.)
I'm also running on Win10 now and it's sleeeeeeeek :3 XIV works perfectly! Might need a restart after the install finishes (Mine needed it for gfx driver), but other than that, it's been bliss so far. Happy upgradeeen!
Personally, I've taken that approach after finding it on the MS forum, but ended up not working and giving a different error. What got it going for me was downloading the Windows 10 MediaCreationTool (64bit for me) off the official site. It's just a straight up download and installation process of 10.
Working fine in windows 10 for me. Just I used to hit alt-tab to lower final fantasy as its full screen.
Now doesn't work for some reason.
Also parser is blocked by windows protecter so need to figure that out
I upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 and I used it for about 2-3 hours yesterday when I discovered a very bad bug. I could not access Settings under the start menu. Whenever I clicked Settings it would pop up and immediately close. I tried several methods to get to the Settings options and all met with the same issue. Anyways, I went to check if their were updates to install by searching Windows Update in the search bar. Upon clicking Windows Update from the list, it too would immediately close. I tried several restarts and and an hour or so of googling the issue to no avail. So instead, I tried a clean install (which took forvever to figure out how to do mind you) but that didnt fix the issue either.
My system is fully capable of running windows 10 by the way. I had the technical preview installed on this machine before and never encountered this issue. Its just the "retail" one that's given me headaches.
I went back to windows 7, since I dislike Windows 8's metro UI. I'll try 10 again when I know the Settings issue is fixed
Anyways, for those that are interested in doing a clean install. From the sign in screen, hold Shift down and click the power button icon on the sign in menu and do a restart. This will bring up an option to "troubleshoot" click that, then choose reset PC taking care to choose the correct options. ***BE CAREFUL** there is an option to wipe ALL DRIVES, so if you have more than one and dont wish it to be wiped, make sure you choose the drive that only windows is installed on.
EDIT: SETTINGS ISSUE was just fixed. Details here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/w...d-35d82e04c55f
I found out that in my situation I have to run FF14 in Full Screen Mode to see everything...
If I put it in Windowed Mode, everything goes black and I don't see anything... I wonder if this is an issue that could be fixed cause I would prefer running FF14 in Windowed Mode
I also upgraded to Windows 10 and not having any problems. I can play in windowed, Full Screen, and Borderless Windowed with no problems.
Check your graphics card drivers if you're having this issue. Myself, and many others are running 14 (and other games) in windowed / borderless etc with no issues. :(
You may want to restart your PC if you haven't done so since completing the install.
@Vespar: Glad you found a fix for your problem! :)
Been on w10 insider preview for a while, and upgraded to the full version this morning.
I've not had a single issue with XIV's compatibility. Nvidia also had drivers ready so it was an easy transition.
So before win 10 the dx11 client would lock on zoning, but now after upgrading I have yet to see that happen. Anyone else notice that or am i imagining it. Oh and it still doesnt fully minimize grrrrrrr.
This is so odd playing it on DirectX 9 the screen is black, but when I turn on DirectX 11, the screen shows up in Windowed Mode
Just a question to those running FFXIV and W10 without issues.
Are you using NVidia or AMD? As I've been hearing of problems with NVidia and W10.
I think there was a post recently saying they were testing FFXIV on W10 and they would be notifying people as to their findings about the middle of August.
After installing, it took nearly 3 hours before windows finally started identifying my video card, instead of claiming the generic driver was the best thing to use. Since then, all is groovy.
You don't have to force it to download. You can go here to get a tool that allows you to start the windows 10 download without having to do all that junk. --> https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10
Also, installed it and it working perfect. Haven't had any issues with the game running :)

Unfortunately, it won't let me install the Windows 10 drivers even when I manually downloaded them.. ;_;
had that issue to but right now windows 10 is running flawlessly all around with xiv everything left it running while i was at work for 5 hours and was fine
