THM & CNJ Weapon post patch 1.19

So I see in the patch notes that casters can cast while in passive, however, from your ifrit loot video it shows that you have to be in active mode for weapons to glow... Explain please lol... Lots of casters won't be happy with this, I believe.

Can we get a response from the devs. Thank you!

You can still cast spells in active mode, too

well you see the staff needs the power of your magical prowess in order to sustain its glow.

I don't mind .. I'll have plenty of time to stand in Ul'dah with my shiny new staff on display when the time comes.

don't forget, mages have a ranged attack, so you'll get your chance to toss some damage in a party.

No one is going to cast in active mode when they can do it in passive with hp/mp recovery standing one spot.

You can recover mp in active mode, too

Yeah the deciding factor on recovering MP is whether or not you have hate on something.

That's either accurate or it's a mistake in what they were trying to convey. Guess fleet of foot is no longer important for mages which is great. I think that if all classes get refresh/auto mp regen while being in active is kind of silly.

my problem is it being universal. im a mage at heart but i prefer melee in this game so far and even i think it should be left to the mages.

this is a great two weeks for me, Ladytrons new album rocks, this patch is coming out on the 4th and i wont be more than 2 days late on my rent! IM SO EXCITED FOR THE PATCH!!!!!

That's the whole purpose of MMORPGs these days. Also remember the changes in general, its a cumulative effect as long as you're standing still, and unless people after a year still don't know you can evade TP moves (especially conal and vertical ones) by moving you won't be standing in one spot for long enough to get an "insane" HP/MP regen effect.

Like I said, if you have hate at all on any enemy you won't be able to recover MP so it's not as easy as you think. Any enmity marker on anything = no HP/MP regen.

If you want to see the glow then go into active mode... Pointless thread.

Engaged in battle does not mean Active mode. You can be in passive mode and still be involved in battle...it just means you're standing there while a Kobold is pummeling your face.

You may think this but the direct quote from patch notes is:

you incur enmity by actively taking action against a mob. When you stop taking action you stop incurring enmity.

You don't gain more enmity by doing nothing.

This means if you're not incurring enmity, but your PT is in battle, you'll still recover.

The question would seem to be what is the definition of "incurring enmity"?

Does it mean:

a) You're "incurring enmity" if you do something to increase the hate directed towards your character?

or

b) You're "incurring enmity" as long as your character is on any mob's hate list whatsoever?

or

c) You're "incurring enmity" only when a mob is attacking your character and not before or after?

make it glow only for casting/resolving while in passive? Patch is big enough as is, you guys will deal if not!

Incurring is the key word here.

What does Incurring mean?
in·cur (n-kûr)
tr.v. in·curred, in·cur·ring, in·curs
1. To acquire or come into (something usually undesirable); sustain

so does the patch notes say:

a) Players will not automatically recover HP and MP that acquire enmity.
or
b) Players will not automatically recover HP and MP when acquiring enmity.

so you must be doing something that creates enmity, not have done something to create hate.

Now if SE translators used the word: Incurring incorrectly then they need to change the patch notes, to reflect the true situation.
Until then:
If you are not actively creating enmity while in passive mode (casting) you will start to recover.

See'ing as you can't regain mp while casting or short time after and you lose tp in passive mode... smart people with appropriate abilities will switch between passive and active as required. If you're wondering what you can/will use tp for... this post obviously isn't for you o.<

Lol I think it's going to be pretty much like it is currently with maybe a little delay for casters. But if the pug ability is refresh then I guess it doesn't matter.

It just makes sense. You could in FFXI and pretty much every other MMO out there that doesn't require you to be in active battle in order to cast or do buffs.

Oh, I see. Thanks. :3 I couldn't remember what the complaint people were having about it was. Especially since I've never had an issue with it. ^^b
