Do people not understand that some people like to level other jobs and gear those up? Geez.
To me they were never really relevant in the first place, we knew this gear was coming, I didn't see the point in wasting my time on gear I would replace in 2 weeks.
Yep, they are. Just grind neverreap and fractal continuum. Till 3.1
I don't think so. Can be used to gear up alts, or even your main to make things easier while grinding for the new tomes. I plan on continuing hunting for sure.
Hunts were never relevant at all.
It'll end up like hunts in 2.0. First comes out crazies running around spewing out some of the most putrid things I've read. New gear comes out, hunts die down. Then new items come out that involve hunts, more spewing. A vicious cycle.
This is a blessing.
Hunts were so abhorrently toxic it was insane. Hunts can just gtfo for all I care. I think they did nothing but divide the community into very angry little sectors.
I keep seeing stuff about how bad the hunt community is. It MUST be different for each server. I've never seen anything like that on Adamantoise. I see the occasional "so and so pulled early" shout, but that's rare. There's been nothing that I'd describe as toxic that I've seen. Again though, maybe that's just my server. I'm sure some are worse and some are better than others.

On a serious note, if you are not willing to put the time and effort into getting the best gear in the game, you do not deserve it. Savage is built specifically for people who are willing to get eight people together and spend a good amount of time figuring out the mechanics, and in turn, obtain the best ilvl gear in the game. By your description, the content is clearly not for you. Also, why would you deny getting the 2nd best tier gear in the game when it can be obtained casually?
My apologies. Very frustrated in real life atm. Didn't sleep. Was just kinda bothered that some people don't seem to consider other players. Like "oh this isn't good for me, it's pointless." When in reality to somebody else it still serves a purpose. Just because it doesn't serve one person a purpose doesn't mean somebody else won't use it. In any case, sorry.
you guys whining that upgrade items are obtainable in end game hardest raid realize that those upgrade items will be eventually be obtainable in the new 24 man raid in next patch right? no?
even so... other than e-peen what is the point in having the latest highest gear if it is obtainable in the hardest raid... you will have it and... what then? where will you use that new gear if there is no more challenge???
Enjoy the challenge at your pace and let L337 people get entertained doing something to show off
Um. I hate to break it to you, but raiders don't raid to "show off" for non-raiders or to make them feel inferior or anything of the sort. We don't roll into the content and say to ourselves 'lol think how shitty those scrubs out there are gonna feel when we clear this and stand in town so they can see all of our shiny gear'. We actually raid to challenge ourselves and to progress in the game. Novel concept, I know.
No they aren't. Both sets have different stat allocations. BiS will end up being a mix of both sets.
Again why do you (the raiders) need two sets of 210 gear? Because you have. 210 is the only tier with two sets of gear at the moment.
Also doesn't it bother you that you have to do the same content regardless of which set you want? Instead of maybe two raids of the same difficulty.
Giving the upgrades to the 24 will enable us (not hardcore raiders) to have gear on par with wath drops from Alex savage. That is unfair for you.
This system screws over everyone.
And for the last time, the esoterics upgrades are pointless for you as the very same floors also drop 210 gear.
each floor only drops 2 items for 8 people. you need both the upgraded Eso drops + Savage drops to get a good iLv so that "mid-tier" raiders can meet the DPS and health checks of the higher floors. getting Savage Gloves doesn't make the i210 Esoteric boots useless to someone.
I've gained two levels on MCH just through doing hunts with my wife. Even if the seals aren't useful anymore, the XP is for leveling.
The new tomes are capped at 450 per week. You will not have a full set of AF2 in a week, or even several weeks.
The i190 gear from Alex normal is also gated behind a weekly limit.
This means that the i180 Law gear is the most easily accessible gear for any player gearing up a job. What this patch has given is a way for those who do not care for the hunts (like myself) to get those upgrade items for i180 gear. This gear is more than enough for any content besides Alex Savage.
The new gear is really designed to give people doing Alex Savage a better chance at success. The upgrades for that, which only come from Alex Savage, are there to help those players beat the content and farm it better.
Unless you intend on doing this content, the Esoterics stuff isn't even necessary.
But if you only play 1 job and already have full i180 or better, then no, you don't need to do any more hunts. Everyone else still does, though, so we will continue to get our gear through that (or via Law directly)
I still do my full 3 stacks of hunts every day for seals and there are still hunt groups out there so it is not irrelevant, not yet anyhow
Oh i have been using it to level my other classes now that i have 2 @ 60 :)
Leves just seem to give less xp then they used to, or it just seems like that in my mind
1) because 210 is the highest level and you want the highest level gear to bridge the gap for people who can't clear Alex Savage at i190. nobody needs two sets of i180 gear.
2) it takes 3 months of development cost to develop another piece of similarly difficult content, are you going to pay them for it?
3) yes and?
1. to give you a choice
2. Content that wasn't made but should have been.
3. It is not. Current is: token for gear plus upgrades for different gear. What I proposed was actual 210 gear, plus token to buy that very same gear. Let's say for example you got a belt and a token from a run. You then go and buy an accessory or a pair of shoes with the token.
Hunts are useful for people who need a higher item level before starting Alexander.
