Another 450 weekly cap again! >< I hope gear is the same price as LAW.

So over this 450 weekly cap. Wouldn't have broken the game, to raise the cap to 500 a week. Unless the new gear cost less this time around this is ridiculous.

I really hope that the new gear cost the same as Law gear. Cause 495/825 isn't cutting it this time around. If it turns out to be the same cost as LAW, that'll be great.

This is what makes me take breaks and come back, I don't mind the weekly cap, I just don't like how low it is, when gear takes two weeks for one piece. Looking at another three months to gear out.

EDIT-

50 Extra tomes a week, shaves a week off of the 3 months it takes to get every piece for a job. So almost 11 weeks to gear one job is too quick, to some people.

To the ones trying to justify it, "Keeps people subbed longer" or "People will gear up and quit" this is what makes people quit. Yoshida needs to change the game model or go back to playing WoW.

same price as Laws, that would be nice. SE should be more concerned about entertaining their consistent subscribers, that try to play more than 1 class, than scrapping for change from the on/off monthly quitters.

450 cap a week so what...like 3 months to fully gear left side either for wanting full set or if you don't plan to do savage? For a game that pushes the idea of leveling anything on one character, they sure do a hell of a job of screwing over those that play multiple jobs. basically, I can choose one job to gear up to 210. Have a gimp healer for about 3 months and a gimp dps until they release the 24 raid which will probably have 200 gear. awesome.

I'm the player who likes to play a lot of Jobs, did that in FFXI, I was able to gear out all the jobs I wanted. Here it is ridiculous, I don't want to have trash gear on other jobs. Also there wasn't a crappy vertical gear climb when I played. Also there was plenty of content, that I could take a different job to everyday/week. I stopped leveling DRK/MCH cause my MNK is still going to be my main.

Guess this means I'll finish out my sub and come back and catch up to everyone in a week. Unless gear cost less this time.

But you come back. So why should they listen to you if you've proven it wasn't an issue the previous times?

What did you expect? It's gonna be just like all other patches so far.

^ All of this. This also applies to content they push out too. If you only play like 3-4 hours a week, then sure, it's fine, but a good portion of us play for 5+ hours a day, so with low tome cap (done in a day) and not much variety in content, there's just not enough to keep people paying, which should be SE's goal. Seeing how people are lazy and most likely won't do alex normal/savage and instead go for the easy i200/i210 from tomes, we actually have less content now than we did a week ago.

On the plus side, SE didn't add new gear sets in 3.0 like they did in 2.4 so getting all the armor isn't a more lengthy process. On the other hand, there are 3 new weapons added which will add to the total grind you need.

Of course I come back, I really like this game. But I'm taking 3 month breaks and coming back for 1-2 months, for the last year. If Yoshida actually took a chance to change stuff, SE would get my money for 12 months a year, not 4 or 5 months.

Vertical progression.

I see people talking about being "gimped" and having "trash gear", but like 90% of the current content is a pushover even in 170~190 ilvl gear. If you don't plan on doing Savage what is the big rush to get 210 gear? So you can farm Ravana EM faster?

And if you ARE doing Savage you're going to be getting plenty of gear and Esoterics will only help you outfit your side jobs...

I do salivate at the idea of being able to play more than one class...

You're spouting the same argument that goes relatively uncontested lol. The normal response is that people don't like the idea of their other jobs being kept gimped while their main is still acquiring gear. That, combined with the "I don't mind gear/tome caps" comments by the same people, makes one question life lol.

Where are you getting 450 will be gained in a day? All we know on esoterics gain rate is that we can gain a total of 70 (50 if you avoid PvP) from doing your daily roulettes. Amounts per run from the level 60 duties are unknown.

What did you expect? They were quite clearly following the same pattern as all their tokens. Just be glad we aren't capped at 300 tomes a week anymore. 450 is a godsend. And seriously, your suggestion is just a slippery slope... first you ask for 500, then if you got it, you'd ask for 550, then 600, etc, etc.

The issue with using Law prices is that SE only benefits from people with multiple jobs in that case. People who only have their main and don't play anything else will be finished in 3-4 weeks, meaning one month sub and they're done. They unsub and move on to the next game until the next update. Whereas if they leave it with the old prices, those people have to pay at least 3 months of sub to max out their main before they unsub.

The people with more than one max level job are usually the more diehard fans that will be paying monthly for long periods regardless.

Unfortunately i never understand these arguments. It is meant as a grind, so you keep playing. I for one wonder why people play, gear in a month, then unsub for 2-3 months until the next content patch. That money spent to earn gear, but then never do anything with it just baffles me.
Gear your main, go complete the daily roulette and dungeons with your high ilvl main, farm the tomes, then use them to gear your alts, when alts are sufficiently geared, start taking them into the new content. Seems like a well designed system. You focus on getting one class geared (your main) then use it to supplement gearing of the alt classes.

FYI, almost every game does this. WoW did this, but then added in where the gear stats change depending on your spec, but then again you can only be one class, with two different specs. So you could gear your DPS paladin, and then switching to holy (healing) the stats would change from strength to intellect. But that didn't mean that the secondary stats were the best for that spec either.

But I don't mind caps. I grew up in the Lineage 2 era where you you could kill raid bosses all day for a week and get absolutely no loot. Compared to that this is a godsend.

Ravana EX (10)
Singularity Reactor (6)
Neverreap (40)
Fractal Continium (40)
Seal Rock (Seize) (20)
Daily Roulettes (70 or 50 without PvP)

Esoterics rewards from A1 through A4 (HM and Savage) are currently unknown.

i expect the items to cost the same amount as before HW. so 1300 weapons 825 chest and pants. 495 helm/boots/hands and 275? not sure what it was anymore currently for the rest.

Except there's no "oils" or "sands" this time, and upgrades to i210 are handled through an as of yet unknown esoterics cost. So add another week--or more--worth of tomes to that. If they keep the costs the same as pre-HW, that's rather an absurd time-sink just to gear a single class.

^ and basically you're not even finished gearing that single job by the time new gear comes in (especially with them having explicitly said that the ilvl climb will be even faster in HW). Meh.

"Large Gordian Gear" is likely the token that you need to trade in for the AF2 weapons.

I tried hard in 2.x to keep all my jobs geared to tackle latest content. That was stupid.
My current plan is Esoterics -> main, Law -> Alts.
Bolts go to Main until i have all i need for main, then Bolts go to Alt accessories.

And so on and so on.
My Main job will always be in cutting edge gear, with my alt jobs 10~ ilvls behind.
If i manage to fully gear my main job within the patch cycle, excess Tomes/Gordias will then go to my next favorite alt.
And that is perfectly acceptable.

The problem isn't the system, the problem is the people who think they should be able to max out the ilvl of 12 Jobs in 3 months or less.

Yes, I reread that. Looks like it's a Savage or 24 man raid upgrade path, yet again. I think Law upgrades are now done with Law (to alleviate Hunting fatigue). That's where the confusion came in.

Time flys fast.. and boom the next set of gears show up, or an new expansion is released -> All gears trash again
Lv 115 gears cost now around 10k gil from Market board/NPC Shop, In before: we farmed for months the same 3 dungeons for those lv100 gears <,<

So I just focus on 1-2-3 jobs. Not upgrading all current jobs to have best gears.

i just checked the database. it seems the allagan tomestone is gone as a requirement for weapons as there is no new version of it. i exchange they added a weapon only upgrade item which can ONLY be gotten by clearing a4 savage FOUR TIMES. so the i210 weapons are ALL locked behind A4 clear. but the i200 will be available to anyone within 3 weeks of saving esos.

good change imo. gives the weekly stones a use on weapons. dont wanna be stuck with a ravana weapon till 3.1 since clearing A4 before then will be hard for most groups.

It's gonna work the same way as ARR did. Do a dungeon a day, catch some fishies, play another game/go say hi to the sun/read a book, and automatically get the best gear in the game, which you dont really need unless you are raiding or if the gear is really cute and you must have it.

Think most people were hoping we have a different way of obtaining these. Right now its the same crap all over again. I went back to FFXI a few months before heavensward cos the boredom of grinding killed my interest for this. Now its the same all over again.

This pretty much sums up the reaction to using the same formula all over again only this time its WORSE because u can only gear 1 job at a time unlike poetics when u could gear 2/3 jobs over time.

To me the real engame gear is trying to get Thavnairian. THAT is the real struggle. After that the rest doesn't matter imo.

A 500 limit instead of 450 would have been nice. 450 is better than the ARR release 300, but it's still an annoying amount.

Though I guess it's SE that makes that amount annoying with the costs.

I honestly love it. For too long have I had to nerf my black mage so that my blm wouldnt look like a smn. Now I can play my 2 favourite jobs and they look different.
I wish it was like this every time they release new gear.
Ilvl isn't very important anyway so it doesn't matter if it takes time to gear up jobs. Can do raids to get good gear too!

Also I'd like to say to all of you who tells me having alts in this game is stupid, IN YOUR FACE I CAN FARM 450 X2 TOMES YOU CANT (not that i have enough time to do it, but I can do it!)

So that means we can get tomes now, and today after reset I guess. 900 for today.
