The Raise spell, and Jobs

Right now it seems everyone has Raise slotted just in case. When jobs are implemented; perhaps only the WHM and PLD will be able to Raise.
I am very bad at this game and die a lot. Perhaps that is why everyone I party with needs Raise. What do you think the effect will be if your one WHM dies in an 1 hour instance? Or is there phoenix downs I am not aware of?

The WHM will be yelled at by the over-eager group leader, even though said group leader is a suicidal maniac that took entirely too much damage and produced entirely too little enmity, resulting in said WHM getting killed and causing the whole group to start over. Perhaps as a result of a codependent nature, or merely out of loyalty to his leader, the WHM player persists in attempting the instance. After a series of failures, he eventually turns to his only friend: alcohol. The situation becomes exacerbated as the player slips further into a state of inebriation. The party wipes again, and the WHM player starts becoming increasingly talkative on Ventrilo. Cue the arrival of the linkshell's most popular female player, who, upon seeing her friend the WHM in a state of intoxication, begins also consuming alcohol. Much to the chagrin of the leader, Ventrilo is reduced to a state of anarchy as the two drunken players start laughing at everything. Everyone stops giving a damn about the wipes as consumption of alcohol becomes more widespread among the linkshell, and everyone has a good (but unproductive) time.

Hopefully WHM learns Reraise :D

Just tell 2 party members (like the archers) to play as class instead as job and that they should equip raise for the worst case.
Or hope for phoenix feathers ^^

I would imagine jobs will still have some cross class abilities, and since raise is such a low level skill, I would again imagine it will be equippable

that will defeat purpose of Job

Exactly. The whole reason jobs are being put in is to create player roles in parties. You won't be able to use cross-class abilities. If you could...well they would just be classes.

Just have 2 WTM and maybe 2 ARC's no job on so they can have thm and conj raise on.

no actually what they said is using a job will limit you from being able to equip some cross class abilities. what does that mean? to me it just simply means some of the abilities that you can use across classes cannot be used on jobs, but not all of them. will raise be one that can't be used? idk and neither do you.

Oh, I'm sure paladin can equip Con and Thm raise, too

exactly, they didnt say you couldn't equip all abilities just some of them, so for example defender II could not be equipped on monk but defender 1 may still be able to

But that's already true for classes. Like LNC being the only person able to equip the Surges. So what your implying makes jobs pretty much identical to classes. What's the point?

This^^ The Reraise spell has been in the game since pre-beta but hasn't been released... guessing Yoshi is saving it for when we get WHM though :P

Also not to mention WHM (Job) might get a trait that lowers the raise recast by 10-50% to make it more ideal for healing. Of course your trade-off of having the job is you lose all your nuking powers, so it seems like a fair trade.

I'm hoping for more debuff removing spells, like maybe being able to remove the death debuff that decreases health, that'd be extremely usefull in a boss fight if the tank dies, then when you raise them they won't suddenly be squishy like they are now.

it's not what i am implying at all. it's what's actually been stated.

currently you can use pretty powerful cross class abilities, like in my example defender II or second wind II in the future the more powerful moves you will not be able to. I am only going off information given by the developers, but that is how it is.

They should do this only JA,WS,Spell that make sense to your job you be allow to use "I'm guessing they doing this" and also if you want to enter a party event dungeon or anything you lock to only jobs. that would make people use them and not only use class.
