It's getting more each day.
they are going to make it easier to bot in the new area's does that help?
What the heck are fate botters?
the STF are working on it, but it wouldnt hurt to get a better report feature.

There are alot of people using FATE botting apps to help them train up their char. Head to northern thanalan. Most of the people with chocobos are botters.
They all follow a directed path towards the FATE, one easy way to see the botters is with a FATE where you have to protect the NPC. They will all crowd behind the NPC.
(I know this is not enough evidence to tell they are botting, but if you look long enough it becomes clearer)
In adamantoise i see a ridiculous amount of blm bots, they all have the same gear and color, they warp everywhere and glitch the game, they kill mobs till they lv up, heck i even entered one random cape westwind where they where killing rhitatin without even starting the fight they glitched him and klled him slowly while i reported them, what is their goal anyway? they are just increasing server stress by having to load more characters
Probably not.
I thought it looked a bit better than when I last left the game (not saying a lot though).
I'm way more worried about the crazy gil seller spam, because gil sellers may be botting, but could also be account hacking or who knows what. And they undermine the game in a fundamental way, and little visible action is taken against them.
Doesn't seem like they care. The comunity reps never reply to these topics and reports never get a reply or you can't call a GM in game to show them the issue.
By the time they do anything people will be all lv60 and will only get a 1 week ban for it and that's a huge joke.
Tonberry saw a reduction in botters, still alot, but a reduction.
Used to be a huge mass in N Than, now its just a moderately sized mass, lol.
SE needs to very strict on Botting.
The thing with botting is that if players bot and they know they won't be banned, they tell there FC/friend.... Now MORE players will tempt to bot.
I I know bans will cause SE subscription. But if not dealt with the problem will grow exponentially, and in the end can cause 10s of thousands if dealt with or botting will be the norm.
Just curious... what exactly is wrong with FATE botting? I mean, they don't adversely affect you at all. There's already so many people there that the scaling maxes out, so it's not like they are making FATEs more difficult for you.
I personally don't bot at all, but there really isn't any negative affect on you when someone else does. The only kind of botting I can think of that would be detrimental would be dungeon botting and gather botting. Dungeon botting because it makes it harder to clear the dungeon and gather botting because it gives an unfair advantage to those who do it, since they can effectively gather 24/7.
But there's really nothing wrong with FATE botting. So why complain about it?
The biggest problem is that the bot is made by the same people who made WoW's and that got so out of hand that people were using it for pve and pvp for perfect rotations completly breaking the game and what would be Frontlines in our game. With the outcome of having to ban 2 million people because of not doing it when it had to be done.
To be honest, this already happens with general players grinding fates in mass groups, and with A+S hunts already. Bumped into many a tank with full 180 asuran gear that didn't use any defensive cooldowns in dungeons, blm in similar gear using only fire 1 on group pulls, etc.
I do agree that botting is an issue, specifically the ones that have been used since 1.0 to level all crafting jobs to cap
Just to be clear we're not talking about the folks just plain old regular fate grinding in nthan right? Until they fix 3.0 Fates its the best place to go from 47-53. Some people stick around higher than that even.
I really hate people that don't read posts and think before they respond. Let me repost the section of my post that you quoted, that already covers that:
"The only kind of botting I can think of that would be detrimental would be dungeon botting and gather botting. Dungeon botting because it makes it harder to clear the dungeon and gather botting because it gives an unfair advantage to those who do it, since they can effectively gather 24/7."
So yes, I'm aware that some forms of botting are not cool. But none of that applies to FATE botting. FATE botting doesn't hurt anyone. And the response that "high level players won't know what they're doing" is not a valid reason because that's already true of anyone whose sole leveling activity is FATEs.
It's not justifiable. It's an unfair advantage. People are not meant to gain levels, gil, items, company seals without playing the game. As far as impact on legit players, the northern thanalan cluster of organised bots were destroying Fates too quickly for me to get involved, having a negative performance impact where I could not see/target the enemy mob due to it rendering too many player characters in the same position, and there being no down time when the zone is more quiet because the bots do not sleep.
It's kinda how I am feeling to a point, why should I have to work to gain my clusters or items, level my alt classes when everyone else seems to be allowed to level up while they sleep. Of course I enjoy this game far to much to risk doing something like that but I do find it unfair a lot of these people have zero consequence to it. Even if they are banning people, they don't make it obvious who was banned in game to make the threat of being banned known. We just got a little thread that says X people were banned, yet we look in the server and still see the mobs running around and bots gathering.
Bottom line for me, let it be shown in the game that they are being watched and make people think twice about it. Would help deter to some point I'd wager.
Personally, I see nothing wrong with it and think it would be a waste of resources to try and stop.
You wanna know whats the real problem here? That it is so hard to level from 50 - 60. Not hard as in "I can't do this" but more as in "I don't want to waste my time for this". I'm working and luckily have a social life + other hobbys. I'm still working on my first 60 just because it takes the same amount of time to level from 50 - 60 as from 1 - 50. I don't find it the least enjoyable to run the same fucking dungeon for 10 time just to get a level up. In A Real Reborn leveling a class was a breese. I made constant progress and it "felt" like making constant progress. This was a very rare thing for mmos. Now its just "Ugh...just came out of Basilika and my progress bar has barely gone a step to the right at all".
I'm not botting right now (maybe I should?) but I can understand why so many people do it. Leveling from 50 - 60 is just no fun. And please stop saying that I have to take it. It becomes fun when I'm max level. Blah blah blah...if a mayor aspect of a game isn't fun then something went seriously wrong. Then what do I play a game for if it isn't for the fun I get out of it?
And yet you did not read the quote you just made? Or do you not know what spirit bonding is? It does mess up the market. Say what you will, even if it didn't hurt the game economy (which it does) it's an unfair advantage.
If you don't have time to level a second class then don't, if you do then do. If you don't and want to then the only option you have is to do it slowly. Such is life, tough luck, stop cutting lines and wait your turn.
The bots are not just botting fates, they are (and have been, since 2.0) botting quests as well. They bots can interact with NPCs, accept and report back on quests. All that gil from quests are dumped into the market.
In essence botting artificially increases the money supply and mob loot supply in the market (bot efficiency per real Earth day is many times that of a real player), which causes inflation and destroys many markets.
The often seen response to that is "hey you get to buy cheap shards and mats, wtf are you complaining about". That response shows complete ignorance of the fact that the game has gatherers and people who farm mob loot to sell. It artificially destroys many of the markets and funnels people into making money via other limited forms of activities.
Botting creates a skewed economy, chases real players away from certain activities in the game. Botting hurts the game as a whole.
The strangest thing is that teleport botting had been a thing since a decade ago and FFXIV is unable to block that. I really don't understand that. But I guess it's just too expensive in terms of processing power. It's cheaper to let part of the player population become irritated, but those who do are loyal customers mostly so it doesn't hurt the bottom line. I guess that's what's going through SE's minds.
Once they get into Dungeons and try to Teleport through it (Avoiding Dungeon Mechanics) just for massive Tome Farming, they get banned anyway.
SE is watching Dungeons from time to time, hence even in Coils Bots were banned due of Teleport Invincible Methods.
Movement is done Client-Sided, that's why it's possible for them to position themselves in the Air. If it would have been Server-Sided, we would rubberband if there is Lag and Bot's would go back to their original Position when they try to Teleport around.
It's a proven Fact that Bots cause huge Inflation Waves in any MMORPG. Silkroad went downhill because of it, WoW had the same Problem as well and People go so far, they Bot 24/7 (24 Hours / 7 Days a Week)
I know an MMO that had a unique trait of letting your characters (MCC system, you control 3 characters at the same time) stay at one spot killing mobs while you could go afk and sleep. You could also buy a gathering pet that would pick up all the items dropped as long as you had pet food in your inventory for it to be active. lol While that was the intended playstyle in that game, here it would be considered pretty unfair. That game is so broken... but super fun in end game XD.
The FATE botting is a direct result of them making open world PVE EXP Chain grinding obsolete, and replacing it with FATEs. The end.
They need to add open world PVE EXP Chain grinding areas, equal to the amount of EXP you would get out of FATEs or Dungeons.
It's really their own fault for cramming FATEs down everyones throats and getting rid of open world PVE EXP groups.
It was funny to see 4 THM characters with dgkddbd sfsffdsf names on Horizon today. Its the new generation of botters in their childhood. Isn't that adorable?
SE needs to make leveling your 2nd or 3rd job in HW better/easier
Its sad that the fastest way to level is by spamming fates in a 2.x zone.
I stopped after leveled 2 60's i cant do more even though i want to play the other jobs because its very slow/boring & not fun.
Maybe that is why people choose to use bots, maybe they want to play more than one job but do not want to do the fates/100x same dungeon.. Also the fact that the level 50 dungeons give no xp is a joke too!
I heard from a friend it takes 3 days (about 60 hours) with a fate bot to get 50-60
So, if SE made it so you can get 60 faster than that by playing the game I don't know why people wouldn't just play.
Also to make the assumption that a person grinding up levels is also using tools to make money is a very broad ranged assumption. I think some people do that, for sure.. but you cant assume everyone does.
Dude Tonberry NT is full of BOTTERS
I hate the whole ''Fate Botting Isn't Hurting Anyone Argument''....
Are you a Fate Botter ? Because you'd have to be delusional to defend this.
Example: My static told me I was going to heal in 3.0, HW drops I level my SCH to 57 with all quest done before the decide to say oh can you switch to tank...... Its my static so I switch for the sake of saving us...... I grind by myself Churning Mist all the way back up to MSQ with dungeons etc etc...taking massive amounts of gameplay , time and dedication......
Someone else logs on to the game....Gets their Main to 56 while they actually play...clap*clap*
Then while they sleep they let their Bot get their ALTS up to levels.....
^^^ THIS IS BREAKING THE INTEGRITY OF THE GAME AND IF YOU CAN"T SEE THAT YOU"RE BECOMING PART OF THE POISON
In all fairness, I kind of don't blame them. I mean grinding FATEs is mindless and boring. I grind while I watch movies, barely even looking at the screen most of the time.
The real problem here is that EXP content like FATEs are just far too faceroll / mindless that a bot can actually complete a FATE to begin with. The underlying problem here is not necessarily the fact that people use bots - but more the fact that the content is easy enough for people to use them. Attack the problem at the source and it is a much lesser issue than trying to remedy it by simply banning accounts. A bandaid fix such as a ban just doesn't work in the long term.
In all seriousness you can literally tell who's botting or not.
Look @ the players , they pretty much look like mindless drones, stopping on a dime at the same location etc etc. Not fast pacing to other fates etc.
It's hard to ''spot'' them because their are players doing actual fate grinding there but they are the ones doing the normal fate grinding stuff
..Leaving fates early
...Figiting their characters a bit while waiting
...chatting
...repairing
....etc etc
It was weird seeing people in my own FC not logging off for hrs at a time and seeing their char. at 60 and shit and now im just pure disgusted with it.
I love FFXIV but this is just dumb imo , even if I wasn't a ps4 user I wouldn't utilize this....
I understand where you are coming from, but if SE wanted to fix the issue, they need to make the leveling process faster.. at the end of the day when you have 10% of the subscribers using this tool, to ban them all would be cutting out way to much income for a game that is trying to grow... they need to triple or quadruple the fate xp in the new zones, maybe that would help the situation.
^ This. Make more options for SB/EXP. Make EXP chains something that actually matters again. Bring back the fun of grouping up and PVE EXP chains. Forcing FATEs down everyone's throats obviously didn't work out so well, and it's certainly showing in N than in this patch.
Yeah GL Pandoras box has already had its top blown off
Players- Spend 3-4 hrs of my own time leveling
Or let my Bot do it
even if they do increase it , this has become the norm now ....
New areas wouldn't be touched still .....what they need to do to eliminate this is post lvl 52 you stop earning XP from NT fates....and that way you have to go to the new zone and guess what .....it takes a hell of a long time to move from A to B and if they aint flying their botting simple as that......
not sure if you can make your bot fly but hell that would weave out all of these FOUL PLAYERS
