Party TP Bar - Follow up question to Live Letter

In the recent live letter the following was stated,

"Q79. How is the feature to see our party members' TP coming along?

A79. We're currently working on this so that memory is not completely consumed, and we're planning to just show the bar, not a value. We're aiming to implement this in Patch 3.1."

My question is, will we be given an option to hide the bar if we do not wish to see it?
As a healer I don't even want to see other players MP bars/secondary bars at all, unless you are my fellow healer. Otherwise it's just an eye sore and adds to the clutter. So making the TP bars visible for all by default, would make me really sad.

This is my personal preference as a player because I enjoy the least amount of clutter in my UI and an extra bar just adds a distraction =P. So if others feel the same, please consider adding an option to hide the TP bar. My dream would be for you to add the ability to hide any of those bars... but I won't be picky. I just don't want anything additional to be added without an option to take it away.

I FULLY support them adding the visibility of TP bars. I think it is very helpful, but not for everybody. So I am only looking for some support on the fact that it is unnecessary to force UI components onto the player base that will find it :nothing: but an eye sore. Thus, a show/hide function would be very much appreciated by many. ^.^

Any opinions? Curious how others feel.

On one hand I agree. If I had a smaller screen no way I'd want more bars on it. On the other hand, the added information could be useful in the long run. Either way. I agree there should be a hide/show option.

Yeah, I totally feel the same way. I can totally understand why people want the bar. I just really hope they see that there are equally a player base that does not. Hide/show option is essential. Imo of course XD

The hide/show and choose which of others secondary bars would be an amazing idea!

Hoping for some more feedback on this so we can potentially get an SE response. XD

In the meantime, you can use the < tp>(without spaces) command in a macro to let people know when you're low on TP.

More information isn't a bad thing, and if you play astro then TP is important to know. I can see where you're coming from though.

Screen clutter is why it wasn't there in the first place, though...
I'd rather see everything. An option to toggle would be nice, but...

I guess I'm just used to wanting to see everyone's TP and MP.

This should have been in the game from the start... if you can see your own TP bar in the party list, why not the entire party? it would help people like bards and rogues for songs and goad

^Yes, this. I like to see how is in need of my Goad ability to restore their TP instead of someone calling out. It allows me to help them out better.

There's already space on the party UI allocated to TP bars. It goes below each players buff/debuff icons exactly as it does for your own character. It won't take up any additional space since it's just filling in a gap in a window that was already prepped for it.

My guess is this was always intended to be added but they had memory issues for consoles prior to launch so it got cut until they could find a solution.

On my screen, default is 3 bars stretching across screen, then you get buffs. Takes up a lot of real estate.

Addons would fix this.

I don't mean your personal stat bars; I'm referring to the party UI that only appears when you are in a party. It currently shows your own TP as a third bar, but every other player below you in that list does not have it displayed. There is already space for it below the five buff/debuff icons against each player's name on the party UI though. This addition would take up zero additional screen space since that section of the party UI is already dead space.

It will most definitely take up space. It will add 7 more bars on my screen that do not have the ability to see through.

Yeah that's exactly it though. I don't care about seeing my TP. What do I need to see it for? "Oh yay I can sprint again!"
Again just to be clear, I FULLY support them adding the TP bars. It is not for everyone though and I think it's not very cool to add something without an option to turn it off, if you so choose.

Firstly, yes it would take up space. It is adding bars that have zero opacity setting. You can't see through it, it takes up space.
Secondly, it's not just about the screen space. It is also about having 7 other bars moving around as a distraction for zero benefit to most players.

It should be in complete control of the player as to which bars are displayed. A class that can't restore MP/TP for other people has little concern of what others MP/TP is at unless you're a tank, healer, or class than can restore one of said two. However I believe both MP and TP should be on display by default, then manually turned off if not needed.
