I for one welcome the great N. Than FATE nerf of someday soon because it certainly deserves it. It's also way more likely than a FATE buff somewhere else.
One day N.T will get that nerf on its fates. I think the relic weapon quest will involve many HW fates, but I still think xp on HW fates needs to be increased.
Shameless bump. :D
i don't think this is a problem. anyone doing this will have a low contribution, and receive a bronze rating. and if they did contribute enough to receive a gold rating, then they did their fair share of the work. they have the right to move on. in which case, this will also mean the remaining people have more of a chance to add more of their own contribution. increasing their chances for a gold rating.
also, anyone doing this is most likely farming the area. if you intend to do multiple FATE's, maybe you should consider forming a party. or adding that person to your party. and don't forget, we can also form alliances.
I don't believe the answer is to nerf N Than fates. HW fates need a dramatic adjustment across the board. As they are right now they take extremely long to do and give next to no xp reward.
Keep N Than how it is to give people leveling to 50 an alternative to endlessly spamming Aurum Vale (gross), and make it so HW fates are a superior method of leveling to 60.
well then... i sure as hell can't do it. seems like to me that maybe it is specific FATE's with this issue. i have tried the Flash a few times and run to the next FATE trick... never works for me, always bronze. as far as i know, this was something that was fixed quite some time ago. maybe the new 3.0 area FATE's haven't had this fix applied to them.
either way, if this is really happening, then i too agree that the workings of this need to be evaluated. a player shouldn't be getting enough credit for a gold rating with such few actions.
Yes 15k for a HW fate is plain stupid, given the length of time they take.
As to nerfing any old world FATEs..NO just change it so nobody level 55+ can get experience off them.
I pick 55 as it is possible for a player to hit level 54 before gaining access to HW just by MSQ and roulettes
So, basically only DPS classes get to earn XP? Gotcha. To be fair, the reason they made Fate contribution easier is because solo people weren't getting any credit no matter how hard they tried. The mighty zerg just meant that the average player was left to the wayside.
If anything, I think party gains should take a nerf because that's what's really killing Fates right now. Large groups of people all ganging up on lowbie targets.
Fates are fine the way they are, aside from the amount of EXP, which a adjustment is in the works.
I'm sure you know how the system works? Bronze, silver, and gold you do enough work in a fate, you'll get Gold. If its a boss fate players usually don't run off, It also doesn't hurt anyone for players to run off to the next fate, unless you're at a boss fate and the tank leaves and it resets (seen this many times).
With the amount of people doing fates its actually a good thing people leave. That gives other players a chance to get gold (solo players, people who can't put an AoE on the ground, etc). So no, Fate system does not need to be reworked.
A theory that sounds good on paper often is terrible in practice. The practical result of your suggestion would mean needing to actually deal a decent amount of damage on each target, which would ultimately mean DPS classes get the better results. Tanks and some healers damage won't compete, so they'll get significantly less contribution if they're required to deal a certain amount of damage per target.
It also doesn't address the issue of AoE. A White Mage can spam Holy in a crowd and probably get a good contribution score, but many other jobs have AoE that are lacking in 'oomph' such as Scholars which rely on damage over time or Paladins who basically rely on tagging targets with Flash more than they do damage.
I'm sure even you've considered these glaringly obvious points.
Well I went to N Than last night and aside from xp per kill every single FATE gave only 14210 xp. Except DD and GoGo of course.
Are you kidding? After getting a job to 60 and getting the Armory bonus, Churning mists is amazing. The only problem is people dont know that and don't go there, which causes the problem of it seeming not worth it to the few that try to do FATES there. If you are not 60 on a job, then the story and sidequests are enough to get you 60 without worrying about FATES. I was getting 28k per FATES in churning mists on 1st job not including Dragon multipart FATE (total of ~70k)up north and the dragon achievement FATE down southwest. So on a second job it will be much better. Not to mention that there are FATES galore in churning mists. It really is the best place from 54-60. Unfortunately, until the community realize this, people will just use roulettes and N Than.
