Temple Leves seem to be a disapointment

I think I read the patch notes wrong when it came to temple levels, but they seem to be a let down when it comes to the whole leves system.

While I was happy to see that some thought in how the system should work came into this update, I guess I was hoping for a bit more. (If they get more complex past level 50, I am unaware at this time)

All in all, I think it would be more fun if a temple leve came with different "chapters" where you complete one (like you do now) and it turns into the next chapter, and so on until you've completed them all.

To make it a little more fun and more of a challenge, is that you would have so much time to finish a chapter, and if done in that amount of time, the next one would open up, and so on, but if the goal wasn't hit, then the leve would be completed once you finished the chapter you were on, and you would turn it in for your rewards and bonus based on how far you were able to go.

An example of this would be the "rift" system from Diablo 3, but this would be open world content with each chapter growing in difficultly, and if I dare to dream, add a leader board to it, so different people/groups could challenge themselves to see how they stack up against one another.

I was disappointed by the fact it's essentially half the value of doing 10 full leves. I can understand not allowing it to be the full amount. Especially for the amount of effort that is required to complete one of these. But who in their right mind would waste there leves on this, unless they had to? I mean if your someone that's working 80 hrs a week, and only have enough time to do 1-2 things a night, this might be for you. But otherwise it's almost a complete waste.

What I expected from Temple Levequests; Bigger, better, more challenging Levequests, with more interesting mechanics/fights than regular ones. Perhaps incorporating Master recipes and Unspoiled Nodes, because now that i115 is a joke to produce the effort that goes into making i110 sure isn't paying off in any feasible way...

What I got from Temple Levequests; Pretty much exactly the same thing as regular Leveqeusts, just a few extra objectives which are no different or challenging...

What I expected from the rewards; Something to make the 10 Levequest cost worth it.

What I got from the rewards; 5x the rewards of regular Levequests at 10x the cost...

Honestly, I cannot see the point in these at all. If they cost 5 instead of 10 I'd consider them to be great however. Perhaps the only thing I'm noticing is that they seem to have a chance to reward their own currency to exchange for items, but that might also be the case with regular ones, I honestly haven't tested and the items honestly didn't interest me anyway. Overall a massive disappointment, can't really ever see myself bothering with them outside getting them done to get them done.

I think they could actually very easily improve the current ones if they just offered a way to increase Levequest allowance. If there was some way I could "farm" Levequest allowances and reasonable start hitting 100 far too often, I could actually see myself wasting 5 Levequests by doing the Temple ones, just because they're faster. As it is, they burn through the Levequest allowance and then I have to wait to recharge them when I could just have been doing the regular ones... If there was some way I could be earning Levequest allowances though, I'd perhaps want to burn through them quicker, rather than hitting the cap and proceeding to waste the daily allowances.

I never did levequests before because they are all boring, so the large scale leves were very useful for me to quickly get some EXP I was missing for the next story quest since I had 100 allowances.

I would never have bothered to do the 1 allowance leves.

I agree with that, it seems like an opportunity missed.

Rewards aside, it would have been great to see some bosses or other challenges brought to the leve (Like you said). In my mind the idea of more open world (yet instanced) content really sounded appealing, moving from one spot on the map to another with a group of people could be a lot of fun.

I haven't tried the crafting/gathering ones yet...

Crafting ones simply ask for the exact same items, just in bigger quantities. Gathering ones are basically the same, give you more nodes to gather from.

I did the combat ones duo, since we've been duoing most of the expansion, and perhaps that's why I found those extra disappointing, but both our reactions were "This is just the same thing but with a few more mob...", then "Wait... A boss will spawn, maybe that'll be interesting", but nope. Incredibly boring. They didn't even take existing mechanics and play around with them a bit, like those "Lead target to location" ones, they're exactly the same. The bright eyed optimist this expansion has brought out in me kind of ended up hoping; "Maybe when we get it there, a dragon will swoop down and kill it, then we'll fight a dragon!", but nope...

Great opportunities missed all round... Perhaps these are just for people like Takfloyd who basically sat on 100 Levequest allowances for nearly 2 years... 10 Levequests goes by a lot quicker than 100, even if you're only getting 50% of the rewards out of your allowance... They still could have made them more interesting though... Would anyone be against more challenging Temple Levequests for more rewards? I find the regular ones just as boring as the next person (still do them because they're great in terms of rewards, which is why Temple Levequests offering half the reward per allowance really sucks), but that's perhaps why I had so much hope for these... These were a chance to make Levequests something more interesting and challenging, but instead it's just the same... Meh...

They should change it how faction leves worked during 1.x

Example:
Each normal Ishgard leve give 8-16 temple points. if you have around 300 or 800 temple points you can buy a temple leve with it.

IMO .. the Large Scale Leves should have offered somewhere around 11-13 times the normal Leve reward, for the 10 Allowances cost.
This makes them worth doing (because you're getting 10 to 30 percent more reward compared to just doing ten normal Leves) without making them too good.

I think they should require a party, and do cooler things. Like the 1.0 leves that you had to do to get certain pieces of gear (Coliseum gear) now that was fun and rewarding and a challenge.

I built a full party for temple leves anticipating something challenging.

I think that would be a mistake. They need to balance them against the regular ones, and unless they made Temple Levequests significantly more challenging, that would simply be completely unbalanced. Currently I think they've gone for a time/reward balance with them; Regular Levequests take more time, but will get you more rewards. Temple Levequests take significantly less time for less rewards. Per allowance, of course. If they just changed the rewards, there would be no point in ever doing regular ones; You get more EXP/Gil from Temple ones and Temple ones are faster.

They could very easily balance the crafting ones, by simply changing the required items for Master recipes on Temple Levequests, but I'm not sure how they'd achieve a similar thing for gathering to be honest, and the clamoring majority of casuals might loath any difficulty on battlecraft ones, though I'd personally love it.

I think I prefer the suggestion Felis proposed actually. Something extra, rather than something competing for the same allowance/time.

I was under the imprrssion big leves would be kind of like solo fate chains (or grouped).or a solo guildhest.

They are great for gathering jobs, but I always found battle leves pointless anyways.

Temple Leves are simply a conduit by which you can spend large chunks of leves quickly but at the expense of reduced EXP. In FFXIV they had things similar to leves called Coalition Assignments. These could be used with Coalition Imprimaturs which recharged every 8 hours and could hold up to 15. You only needed to expend 1 Imprimatur to activate the quest, or you could expend up to 3, for the same difficulty but higher rewards. However, expending 3 Imprimaturs did not give 300% the EXP, as it was more efficient to use the tags individually (but this meant doing 15 Assignments at 1000 EXP each, vs doing 5 Assignments at 2500 EXP each).

So if you have 100 leves saved up, could just burn them down for quick exp, vs doing 100 leves which would warrant killing yourself.

I did the same. It would be great if leves would scale based off the size of the party, but I want something more. I feel like there is a good system here, that would be fun and people would take advantage of, but it's not this system... Just hopeful we will see some more adjustments to this system.

Even if they added Temple level (P) to say, hey, you'll want to be in a party for this content. Nothing against solo content, all for that, so this isn't anything against the current system, just wanting more. :)

I see the strength of how they do it now, just like you pointed out what it's currently good for... I am just a bit disappointed, and wanting more out of the system as a whole. Ether this system, or something that uses allowances for party based, challenging content.

I think there have been some good ideas listed here, having a boss jump in and change up the leve goals, I thought sounded fun. :)

I thought the point of the temple leves was basically to get the amber to exchange for the items only available that way. So that is the reason to do the temple leves instead of the regular - the amber.

This. I have a job to go to, other games to play, a house to clean, etc. and leves are the most boring, awful content this game has to offer. At least these allow me a way to spend the allowances I had sitting at 100 all the time.

I'm actually surprised so many people have posted that they even bother with leves.

yeah it was underwhelming.. i was hoping something more intricate.

So are these the only way to get amber? And do all 3 types (craft, gather, and battle) give 5 amber?

Not if the alternative was not doing them, causing those leves worth of EXP to stagnate and eventually be lost because of the cap of leves you can hold.

The massive Levequests for battle are, while still levequests, a little more involved and require a bit more attention. Doing one of them per day in a fraction of the time is, honestly, a lot more bearable than doing 10 small ones that are near braindead. EXP loss be damned, I'm actually willing to do them.

With Collectibles being a thing now too, it's not like you necessarily need to save leves for crafting/gathering levelling.

yeah the exp rewards arent worth it... most people will try it once see the rewards n wont bother anymore, i would of preferred them to be a chain of 10 leves small exp reward for the 1st and increasing til the 10th leve

Just did 3 Temple leves, expecting great things...

Nope, at Level 56 they gave me 270,000 experience for completing all 3. Considering you need 2,600,000 experience to level up to 57, this is a huge disappointment.

Plus, the rewards were awful, just some bread. I picked up the odd treasure chest and got an extra 12.5k gil. Not much at all.

The actual leves themselves were no different to the normal battlecraft leves out there, just wow!

You can get amber from the non-temple Ishgard leves as well.

You forget that leve allowances add up. You can collect up to 16days worth of leve allowances. Add to that how fast leves are to complete (especially crafting leves!) Theres no point in currently doing temple leves, even if you dont have much time to play.

Battle Leves take time. I'm usually bleeding leve allounces, being able to do a couple leves for half XP is better than having to trudge through 10 standard battle leves individually.

I don't craft or gather so only Battle Leves matter to me.

They definitely should have a different concept. I don't mind killing trash, but there just isn't enough. I would rather they be endurance based/endless dungeon based or multi boss wave based.

I was also disappointed by how terribly inefficient temple leves are in terms of how little exp is awarded for the high leve allowance cost. For 10x the cost, I would have expected 10x the exp reward. Although I suppose they're not 10x the effort, but still. The only reason to do temple leves is if you are at or near the 100 leve allowance cap, and you just want to burn them quickly for some reason.

I tried one on gatherer for kicks and giggles, and I have to also say I'm disappointed with them. Pretty much for the same reasons as others have stated.
