Not really cause your Au Ra is already way bigger than your hyur and if they add muscle slider to Au Ra they should add muscle slider for the other races as well and something else to those who have it already for balance. Not gonna do it soon, if ever.
Every race/gender SHOULD have muscle tone slider except maybe lalas, and it stilll annoys me that this isn't the case. Even for smaller races like miqo, there is such a thing as lean muscle, and I still find it wrong that someone can have noodle arms when they punch dragons and other mythological creatures so hard that they die for a living.
it probably just wasnt included in the benchmark
square has stated not all options were ready for it
Roegadyn and hyur get muscle tone because Miqo'te and AuRa get Tails and Lalafell and Elezen get ears.
Well its the same thing as limbal rings on Au Ra being equivalent to tattoos. All races have equal options when they are different.
That said, it would be nice if every race could have muscle sliders so the question is what other customization can Roegadyn and Hyur get if their special equalizer option is given to all races? Maybe give them body hair! That will keep things even and everyone can then have muscles.
I think regardless of wether it's a feature that should be there or not, there is no way in hell they are going to add it before Heavensward's launch if it isn't already in. Your best hope, if it isn't in the finished character creation, is they may add it in a patch through considering it would almost certainly lead to players of other races saying 'hey, what about my race?!' it's not likely unless its part of a general character creation overhaul.
I'm not an expert but even something as simple as a muscle toning slider sounds like a lot of work to implement and then QA.
Hmm... You have a point... What could the females get then? Butt sliders would cause an uproar since every race would want them... Body tattoos? It would go with body hair, in fact guys could have them too!
Is not the Bust size - Muscle tone (female - Male) a thing that is currently going on? Mind you. I only make Hyur and Kitty types... if Bust size slider is the only thing constant among the female charas while muscle tone is not then I have no idea. XD
No, all races/sexes would have muscle tone. My highlander Hyur female is smallest bust and highest muscle tone already. The muscle tone is a race thing, not a sex thing.
So body hair/body tattoos sounds like a plausible thing to be unique to Hyur / Roegadyn. I cannot think of any other possibility that would be feasible as a race / trait thing
Didn't they say we would get muscle tone options when they first announced the Au Ra?. I am almost positive they did.
They said no such thing. There was discussion about it however because people wanted them to be more buff.
Normal hair sliders so that you can elongate your fringe or the back of the hair.
Seriously, I'd be really for a "List of Au Ra complaints and suggestions" thread post Heavensward launch >_> SE seems to be bogged down with the final push with Heavensward, so maybe a post launch thread means they'll be able to actually respond to the thread and we'd get a notion that they're at least listening.
Like.. Out of the complaints listed in thread size
-Horns being attached to the face
-Not looking beastly enough
-Height
-Muscle tone
This is not gonna happen because the Au Ra have tails. Just like Hyur and Roes have muscles. Just like Lala and Elfs have ears. SE is not gonna just break that balance just like that.
Honestly people need to deal with it and more on. This is how the Au Ra are and how they are gonna stay for a good long while.
I agree muscle tone should be a generic feature across all races and both genders. I understand the need for equal number of customisation features, but for cryin' out loud, how is muscle tone a racial feature?? That just makes no sense whatsoever and is rather stupid. Heck, I can even see it on lalafells (maybe to a lesser degree / in a bit different way, but still).
That said, as much time as I spend looking at shirtless males, I do find the upper body polygon count rather low. Like, there are those fine general muscle tone lines, but it's barely even noticeable and makes me wish there was a higher resolution to it so it could be more defined. :/
Same reason why Miqo'te don't have a muscle tone slider.
Every race have the same amount of configuration options and muscle tone slider = tail length slider
I doubt you would be overly pleased with the results.
The current muscle tone slider doesn't add additional mass to the character model. Thus, races that have noodle arms will still have the same noodle arms with said slider, but either more or less definition.
Visually, people tend to associate muscle bulk with power (and that is why heroic fantasy figures or superheroes are often represented as very beefy characters), and that is something the current slider can't give our characters. Tone is not only an indicator of muscle, but also of body fat. In other words, having less body fat will make you look more tone, even if the amount of muscle changes very little.
Most of the race models are already pretty thin. And so the muscle tone slider isn't really going to have the desired effect on them that I think many people are looking for. Highlanders, however, are modeled to be a tad more bulky and it helps (even more so on the Roegadyn). In fact, Highlanders are still thin enough that I would argue setting the muscle tone slider to maximum (as most probably do) is actually the wrong way to go, as it changes the shading in a way that makes it look like the Highlander is losing muscle bulk in the process of becoming more stringy. A better setting for them, in my opinion, is probably at less than 50% of the slider's maximum setting.. providing just enough definition to sell an illusion the bulkier build of their model supports. It would not look the same on, say, a Midlander or Elezen.
Anyway, just an opinion.
But that would be a bad solution, as the difference between minimum and max ear length is quite significant. Personally I like having max length ears, but I have seen plenty of elezen with ears so short you can barely see them.
Adding a muscle slider, fine, but taking AWAY customisation is just going backwards....
Yeah SE is not gonna prioritize C.C over bug fixes and stability and *coughPS3cough*. They could have easily started the changes slowly patch by patch but it's clear they don't have the time for it. If it's very minor, they would do it. But since Tattoos require more than just a simple change, it's not going to happen til MAYBE 4.0.
I don't think a slider for Muscle Tone would work too well. Just fiddling around with character creations in the benchmark it looks like the shading done to gives muscles their tone would actually conflict with some of the scale placements. Like, you look at their skin now and some the shading creates this depth and the scales would hover over it and I picture it looking bad.
+1 for muscle tone slider for Au Ra, especially for all race except lalafell (sorry).
I'm glad you got my line of thinking. Now, considering there's also a language barrier there too, is it not possible that when they said that all customization options were not available/implemented, they were in fact referring to theses? I'm just allowing for the possibility that this may be the case. :)
See I think you're letting SE off the hook too easily. No way everyone I'm the dev team will be working on bug fixes and stability. They hyped up the customization of the au ra so much, and a good bit of folks don't seem satisfied with it and find it lacking.
Plus what's going to occur when 4.0 rolls around and there's still this "Don't worry about it, just move on" "Who actually cares? There's more important things" kind of rhetoric? As the consumers we should let SE know that we're not a fan of something no matter how minor others may say it is.
This is a big thing I considered when I thought of switching from Midlander over to Au Ra. I'm going to miss those toned thighs, but dem eyes on Au Ra...
Messing with the CC in the Benchmark to try and get a better picture if they did have the tone slider... I just realized how thin the male Au Ra's waist was compared to the rest of his upper body. Like, all up top he's got that bulk, that beef and then just this sharp dive into this whole other level of build. They got this whole Joe Swanson thing going, lol.
I really want SE to implement a muscle tone slider for the Au Ra. I remember how they said that the Au Ra will be a muscular race. Playing with the benchmark I got disappointed when I saw the male's body. SE really needs to improve some things in the CC. They can make them seem more muscular without making them huge. The muscle define slider could improve the visuals without breaking the whole thing. SE please do something.
It's not that I'm letting them off the hook too easily but people don't understand that SE has stress that they want all platforms to be the same across the board. This means PS3 having the same in-game items/models/everything. The PS3 is working with a 256 MB cache/ram. There is a limit on what is loaded in that cache which doesn't include the XMB and other PS3 functions. This is why I say 4.0 will be the best time to really push these things. 4.0 is when the PS3 will be dropped and the Dev team will have more to work with. Why do you think a lot of features are point and click or very simplified?
