egi where art thou?

dear SE , being possed by bahamut is cool and all and some of the skills look nice, i mean tridisaster + bane + tribind = fun, ahk morn looks awesome. but no new egis seems to have upset the smn community. and i think giving us a recycled carbuncle skin when we where told we where getting new egis back in 2.2 is just a kick in the 'carbuncles'. at least consider new skins/animations for each summon using ramuh leviathan and shiva

so

melee skins = ifrit and leviathan
tank skins = titan and shiva
ranged skins = garuda and ramuh

they can all have the same abilities but different animations.

Indeed, they pretty much just said SMN won't be summoning any new egis because SE can't think up ways to make them useful (hint: the forums are FULL of suggestions of way to rework the egis to make them all useful). The cosmetics system they mentioned sounds like something in the far future as well which isn't going to mean much to us now when we were previously told we WERE getting new egis. Sigh.

The new skills look great but this news was just disappointing.

Yea, I'm most likely rerolling Astro @ launch. Not even sure why we post ideas in the forums any more....

Stop being so doom and gloom, I'd rather my class function rather than having it all based on AI performance which simply will always be inferior or micromanagement hell.

I just hope they make all egi skills interchangeable so cosmetically I can use my titan "Chicken Nugget" egi in raids.

This is nice actually. Now we can also have Odin, Phoenix, Bahamut, Bismark and Ravana Egis too and without creating major imbalacings or making half of our older skill set useless. Just as long as SE don't go pushing Odin egi on Mog Station it is fine. Just hope it is not far off the future like Fc Primal Summoning.

That Titan egi auto-attack will easily become a ice spike for Shiva egi.

SE didn't promise new egis, they said it was a probably or if when level capped was raised. I'm getting pretty mad at the forums now just people man . I'm going to stay away

Taking into account all these changes to smn, smn having more atks that actually look/feel powerful, on top of overall changes to spell/skill speed...id say it'd be pretty nice to be a smn in 3.0. I mean..u get to akh morn....U GET TO AKH MORN. That's more than just nice.

Odin-Egi that gets on a little Sleipnir-Egi when you mount up!

Now i think of it, the Summoner new ability with the Bahamut ether thingy seems like what certain lady did in Akh Afah Amphitheatre... If you take that into account, its pretty awesome. I wonder if they will add some appearance changes during the buff.

Edit: Did i mention you take over THE POWERS OF BAHAMUT?! HOW IS THAT NOT AWESOME!?

In this ARR Lore anyone with the knowledge and crystals can summon a Primal. Hell, even Greg did summon Enkidu not knowing how. Taking Lady iceheart example, the new Bahamut powers looks like a safer and weakest method of summoning. You dont take the full power of Bahamut, just a fraction: Like the Egis.

Summoner is about toying with the energy of the Primals. We got the 2 methods of summoning of all the series now: Summoning a companion AND an attack of a primal.

Also, i am curious what new actions will the existing egis will gain with the upcoming 3.0 version.

The video showed some sort of Bahamut animation when you go into Trance, but there's no appearance change otherwise.

We don't have to be. We were all there when he Burst out of Dalamud in story even if we weren't 1.0 Players. That is the story line laid out for us in 2.0.

They did mention changing the battle effects of the pets in the LL. Changing visual effects of egi abilities; meaning that the caster egi for example could change appearance based on which of it's pet actions is used: 1 attacks gives it the garuda skin, next would give it ramuh, it defaults to autoattacking as emerald carbuncle.

This would require the renaming of some pet actions as well as new graphic effects to go alongside them, but the action itself remains the same. Purely aesthetic. IDK if that is intended for 3.0 ready, but I'm not crazy, they did touch on the visuals.

You don't just get to summon a Primal because he burst out of a moon. That's not how Egis work. You need to beat them first and I think that's what Riepah was getting at: the need to defeat a Primal and bathe in their aether so that one can summon their power.

I'm guessing that Bahamut's backstory will be a focus of the new SMN job quests. They did say he would be featured in a "side story" in Heavensward (and job quests are technically side stories).

Man some of you are the biggest crybabies.... You get amazing buffs and a freaking Ahk Morn but you wanna complain about an egi that was gonna be average at best and you know it.

Applying all 3 dots at once for great burst utility.... Are you guys kidding me ???

Grow up people. We got handed something great..... I'm super excited to play my Smn.

You could be anticipating Dark Knight only to find out they don't out tank Pld or out Dps War......Plus not informed from there what they actually bring to the party.

Actually godlike abilities > an egi skin that does auto attacks and lack luster abilities.

Make the current Egi's better > get more of the average in 1-2 more summons......



Once you realize this , you'll feel better.




P.S. We have Ahk Morn.

geaux, i chose SMN because is a pet job, a pet job should focus on its pets, while i wont tell you i don't like ahk Morn, i would rather have had a pet with the ability to cast ahk morn.

also most people that dont seem to have SMN job as their main job are saying hey dont cry you get to do bigger numbers ahk morn AHK MORN BOOM CRIT BOOM BOOM!!.. please take into account that we main SMN for the play style..pet management playstyle if i wanted a big boom spell, i would roll BLM and cast fire 4

What job are you playing that there is pet management? Did you mean DoT management? The only Pet management I really see is "oh ifrit, you're in the way of something, get over there quick. Quick! QUICKER! QUI-... Oh not fast enough, there goes my DPS."

Or this one is one I like a lot. "Oh contagion is up, but my DoT only has a few seconds left on it, I can make it. Garuda contagion. Garuda, HELLOOOO! HURRY HURRY HURR-. Oh way to contagion after that DoT fell off."

The Pets are highly unresponsive and there isn't very much interaction between them in the first place. Why anyone want MORE of THIS beats the hell out of me. Right now SE is taking SMN the "Shiva Route" where we channel a Primal's power through ourselves, so lore wise it fits as to why we can have this power, it looks like it gives SMN an actual FEELING of power, and I would much prefer that they take SMN further in the direction in the future.

TL;DR- Let SE fix the issue with egis instead of piling more garbage on top of the system.

And no, I wouldn't more more of the bad pet interaction....is that for real or troll post? People wanted a summoner fix, meaning have more pet interaction and responsibility, smarter pet AI, etc. You know...have the pet class involve the...pet more? O.o

I'm extremely disappointed with the decision to not add new egi. While I look forward to the new abilities and hope that they indeed improve the use of the job this does not change the need/desire for more egi. Maybe I am biased by my expectations of what the job should be based on its history in the FF series, my time played as SMN in FFXI, and the fact that it has been my main in FFXIV but it is not about "having to look at the same egi forever." It's about SMN feeling like SMN, not reskins or egi-glamour! I'd like to be able to call forth different egi with different/unique abilities depending on the situation. I don't know if the problem is that they can't think of way to do this and retain game balance or what. All I know is that the new job quests and story that are coming with the increased level cap would have been the ideal time for adding solo trials for new egi, since that is the method of acquisition used in ARR, but instead all we get is a huge opportunity lost.
