On the benchmark does anyone know what the PS4 is set to in accordance to the defaults? (Like high desktop and so on) and which DX it uses, I kinda want to see what it may look like/perform :)

I'd personally like to see the benchmark released on PS3 and PS4 if anything just see how it handles and looks on those platforms, can just have it as a rolling demo trialer/demo thing - like that extra cutscene that shipped with MGS: Ground Zero but needs installing to the HDD, entirely game engine but non-interactive demo.
The purpose of the "benchmark" is to determine if your system configuration is adequate to run the expansion. As there are no configuration options on a PS3 / PS4, there is no reason for SE to spend money to produce a benchmark for those systems.
I'd much rather have SE invest in content.
Thats not what I meant at all :)
On the benchmark there is various settings to switch between, such as maximum, high and standard, these are "possibly" unified across all PC's as they sometimes specify whether the schema fits Desktop or Laptops and so on.
It's only through the "custom" setting that you can choose your own preferences and such based on your machine. Therefore I was wondering which of the 'set in stone' schemas is the one most similar to the PS4.
I didn't once ask for a PS4 benchmark :P
Yoshi said before the ps4 version uses the DX11 quality effects. I own both versions, have compared them side by side, and have been patiently waiting for pc to get the DX11 version also. If you think of it terms of PC settings the ps4 has a custom setup, everything is basically on max settings with a few exceptions. The UI is lower res on ps4 (I assume because its hard to read high res chat on a tv at a distance) and takes a bit of tweaking to match what im used to on the pc. And (assuming you are using a high end pc on max) the ps4 has slightly longer load times and seems unable to handle massive amounts of players as well as a pc, like hunts and odin.
Thanks alot :) I had assumed it was a bit above the standard! Heres hoping the massive amounts of player thing isnt too bad though >.<
I was thinking of upgrading the hard drive on my PS4 to a SSD, im sure this would help with our load times
Umm whats an SSD? XD
The PS4 loads areas just find. The PS3 on the other hand....
Whatever the 'medium' options are for most of the settings, is my guess. With lower environmental graphic settings (things like grass, stone, water). And it's not using DX, if I'm not mistaken. I keep finding that it's a "Microsoft" (read: PC) thing. The PS4 uses something different- A modified version of OpenGL, from what I'm finding. People say that it supports and is capable of DX11 things.
A Hybrid drive "may" load it faster (not 100% sure) but usually has a short life span. I am looking at upgrading my hd to 1 or 2tb's in the near future
The last review (kind of old but not much more recent Speed Test Comparison ) I read about converting the HDD in a PS4 to an SSD or a Hybrid were pretty unphenomenal to say the least. This early in the console's lifespan, it didn't seem like the games that were tested really showed to much of an improvement, and not only that but the variances differed between all three. Some things were actually quicker on the stock HDD!
Just putting this out there for you, Pomelo and Peachy. I would maybe try and research how the {upgrade?} would affect this game by speaking to others who may have bought it for the specific purpose of playing FFXIV. I like the link I posted because it makes comparisons with multi-player games with high activity (such as CoD and Battlefield) and would be the closest similarity to an MMO in terms of high volume and high action. I ultimately didn't upgrade because of this link, simply because I don't care about hunts enough to worry about zoning in 10 seconds faster :p I am quite content with PS4 load times in this game unless there is 1,000 people in a zone.
If you want to throw down a couple hundred on the upgrade for that, or maybe to futureproof against games that may come out in a year or two that is utilizing the full power of the console then go for it! But either way, it's a decent monetary investment to just go in blindly. I would do my due diligence and research it beforehand.
Just my 2 gil :D

this is what sold it for me, a few seconds here and there add up :)
PS4 is equivalent to low/mid-range PC. It has it own custom API which is already to Metal. (means minimal latency overhead on rendering).
Most likely what PS4 will get is the Parallax Mapping & Tesselation.
What PS4 won't have is the HBAO+, Full detail distance surface reflections (I'm sure this is capable but too much resources and unconfirmed). Anything that requires more memory.
Aside from that, PC is still have a huge overhead in rendering even in DX11 but their hardwares are far powerful to push and keep up the framerates.
DX12 is where PC is going to be to Metal just like the optimized API on consoles, therefore, it will increase in performances even more ahead this summer 2015 around July Windows 10 releases.
This is also why Xbox One and PS4 from the corporate said there won't be a huge gain for consoles since the API done. There is no such thing as download more rams.
