Looking for some help with Olgoi-Khorkhoi

So when supra first came out i had about 30ish bites without one and gave up. Fast forward to now fishing is the last lucis i need, this week ive gone 52 bites and not a fish, my stats are 384 gathering/301 perc, ive tried lowering me perception down to 250ish to see if it help and still no catches ; ;. Is it just bad luck? or is my perception still to high? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated! :) Ive got the 30 Gigant Hq clams already lol but cant get this fish!

Spot: Sagolii Dunes.
Weather: Heatwave.
Time: Any.
Bait: Sand Leech.

Rest is pretty much RNG unfortunately. :(

I averaged about 2-4 bites per Heatwave. And that's bites, not keeps.

EDIT: Also, don't worry about your perception.

This part i know but thanks for posting, i was just wondering cause ive heard rumors of if your perception is to high it can mess with your catch rate of certain big fish :) feel nice just to vent some anger also ^^

The low perception prevents you from catching HQ Olgois and the rumors are/were that NQ fish requires less gathering to reel in past the requirement, thus easier to catch with lower perception. Though for Gigant Clams I did a test and proved the reel in rates to be exact same with high and low perception. Only difference was that I got no HQs with low perception. What we don't know and haven't tested is if this varies between each fish.

I went 8 heatwaves with only 2 bites. Then within the next 5 heatwaves, I caught 6 NQ. My stats were very close to yours...Forager rod, BiS everything else. I didn't use food or company actions either.

RNG thats all it is....

took me about 10 heat waves to get all 10 HQ, it is like everyone else has said..RNG

Be sure to preload a mooch and go idle til your window. Its safe to go 30 mins without moving.

I've been on seven heat waves now and nothing, think I'm done with fishing, just cannot stand the range bs, if you have the stats the fish should never "get away", that upsets me more than anything.

Well sorry that your giving up. Yeah its tough, and it really gets discouraging but just stay with it, you'll get your first one and things will change:)

Can't even catch the carvan eel let alone that one, I have the stats and been at it for hours but nothing after quite alot of mooches, just dune manta everytime

Does anybody know what the percentage chance on "the fish gets" away is? Every time this thing is escaping, with food going I have 358 gathering, 368 if the FC buff is up and 284 perception. Just curious if there is an actual number on it. But honestly I am on heat wave #12 now and still nothing, pisses me off I am being gated by RNG to do other things, waste hours but get nowhere. At least with Mining and Harvesting when I was going for the Supras I could tell where I was at with the rocks/logs I needed.

Ignore your stats, RNG is RNG. Your just going to have to accept it or give up and move on.....

While I'm sure there are people who can focus on fishing 100% for hours at a time, I'm not one of them. Fortunately, fishing doesn't require focus, since it's so simple. Turn on the TV, read a book, browse the Internet, do some cooking - whatever you like to occupy yourself while you're fishing. The only time you need to pay any attention is when you get a mooch fish, and that's only if your Big Fish requires mooching. Otherwise, just cast, catch, cast, catch... Easy to do while reading, or whatever.

To me, it's no surprise if you get drowsy after 10 minutes of fishing - so be sure to do something OTHER than fishing while fishing, to prevent the boredom from setting in.
