That'd be great.
That'd be great.
Generally speaking I only see this if tanks are being silly and not turning off their tank stance before attacking the boss. Some days I feel like I should try tanking WoD just so I can purposely not MT a bloody thing in there.
...butbutbut merry-go-rounds are such fun??? :O
The boss would like to speak with you...

as a healer, i have found this to be anonying when the tank does it ( or a dps ). my simple solution is to get closer to the boss so i can get behind or infront as neccessary to avoid said aoe or geting more stacks. but i can understand the frustratoin and i appologize for those that have suffered from my actions..

Those of us who play tanks as our main job or primary alt job got our full sets of gear the first couple months when there were loot restrictions. Enjoy people tanking on their fifth-tier alt jobs.
Really this is the case for almost everyone in the World of Darkness, it's just more noticeable with tanks because there are only three of them in the whole alliance.
No
NO
WE DANCE THE DANCE
It wouldn't be World of Darkness without aggro wars. Sometimes, it feels like watching my niece and nephew fight over who gets to play with the toy first.
I like the part when they aim The Stare at an Hour Glass. Or when they die to Mortal Gaze.
Old saying I know, but if you want something done right...
At the end of the day though, Tuskino is right. Warrior is my 1st alt after Dragoon, and that was what I did the 1st 6 weeks of WoD on. I know how to keep Angra centered, and how to pull 5 headed dragon correctly. Most tanks like to just charge in on 5head and center it instead of pulling from the back and getting it to the wall so the alliance can actually dodge some attacks. But healers don't suck nearly as bad for whatever reason as they used to... when I was doing it, I'd Holmgang on CoD and sit at 1 HP the whole duration, and then die immediately after it wore off. And this was with no stacks of vulnerability.
The number of times I've seen players constantly compete for aggro on bosses in these fights is ridiculous. If it's not trigger-happy bards and Black Mages pulling the thing, it's tanks remaining in stance and spamming provoke because they can't keep aggro for more than a few seconds before some better tank steals it away.
Pro tip, if someone else is tanking without losing aggro - leave them to tank. If aggro is a convoluted mess and you're equipped enough to deal with it, then provoke it and tank it properly. It only needs one player to take charge.
No. Nothing become immune to provoke. They just waste it and when the lose aggro, they can't get it back... Some people still spam provoke like they're playing FFXI... A lot of the tanks in the system right now have probably never had to do a fight with a tank trade, so they don't know to have level 3 of their enmity combo ready to go after provoke.
So are FATE mobs. People provoke hunt mobs to lure another player to pull it so they won't get the blame for "early pull".
There was an image somewhere saying how the player skill has been reduced along with the loot lockout removal, but I can't find it, it was funny (modified patch notes). Guess this is just another example of that.
It's how you're supposed to tank it, consider the Stare another tier of roulette.
For CT, I've long stopped bothering with trying to be the MT.
At the start of the run, I check if the other tanks have better gear than me, if they don't, I usually pull the boss. If after that one of the other tanks decides to voke it off of me, I turn off Defiance and spend the rest of the boss fights in DPS gear. Not going to engage in agrowars.
Generally, if a boss is being rotated it's because the tank is having to react to something - it can be anything from some mechanic that is adding avoidable damage, a pack of healers who have (for some strange reason) decided to take up position right behind him, or dealing with the shenanigans of some DPS who doesn't understand that their job is to deal as much damage as possible *without causing problems for the rest of the party*.
Usually this is one of several issues the tank is trying to juggle at the same time as holding threat. So, if the boss is spun to a new facing.. just react accordingly and move your tush well. After all, those WASD keys are there for a reason. And, really, what else do you have going on? Changing your music, answering a text, running to the bathroom, fixing food in the oven (all comments I've heard *during* boss fights) can wait.
This is the same approach I have with this issue. Tank is my main job. Admittedly so I tank less and less in WoD due to the issues that have been mentioned in this thread. To many people not willing to step up, or tanks trying to flex their supposed epeen, or as it was stated tanks who just do not understand the ins and outs of tanking. Just my two cents on the matter.
This is the whole reason I started going on Warrior when I actually do go on tank (not much now, gearing alt jobs with 120 gear). I would rather not MT if I can help it so that I can ensure adds are picked up, but that leaves a lot of time to DPS the boss. DPS'ing as a paladin means that the vast majority of the time I end up as MT whether I want to or not, even in Sword Oath. Warrior at least has the maim combo to mitigate that.
There are plenty of mobs in the game that are immune to provoke, including hunt mobs, fate mobs, and mobs that don't have proper aggro tables. With that said, a lot of tanks don't understand provoke to begin with.
Savage Blade/Skull Sunder is a faster skill to use for snap hate on swaps.
I don't understand the tank e-peenery, seriously. MT is piss boring in these fights.
Maybe they're just lazy and don't want to get raged at for not doing add pickups.
I've never understood the e-peen Tank wars myself. And it isn't just the Crystal Tower raids that I've experienced this in. One quick example was a trial battle against Ramuh. I was a PLD on Shield Oath upon phasing in, and the WAR next to me had Defiance off. A few seconds after everyone says hi and are waiting for the first tank to pull, I assume that since the WAR has Defiance off, he wants me to MT or something. So I step up to MT Ramuh. Not even a minute passes (about 15 seconds) into the fight when SUDDENLY, the WAR turns on Defiance and suddenly provokes Ramuh off of me, and then keeps spamming all his aggro drawing attacks with no mercy. Nevermind the fact that I already stepped up to Ramuh on Shield Oath and clearly had his aggro off of all the other party members. O/
ST and WoD are definitely the worst places I've seen when it comes to constant e-peen wars though. There were very few times in which I stepped up to be MT instead of OT, and out all but ONE time I stepped up as MT, the other Tanks suddenly started waving their ridiculously small e-peens at me and started voking the boss off of me, (can't stand the thought that a female Miqo'te is out aggroing them?) and then proceed to start voking the boss off each other, constantly spinning the boss around. This became a major issue when I stepped up to tank Behemoth in LotA, and everyone, including some DPS members, decided to wave their e-peens suddenly by throwing a Fire III on the Behemoth just before I even pull, forcing me to scramble, and then the Tanks on the other alliances started voking him off of me, constantly forcing me to chase Behemoth down with Shield Lobs and getting him back into position. Really pissed me off.
I've never volunteered to be MT in any of the Crystal Tower raids ever again, always going for the OT job instead. You know it's bad when the other Tanks can only think about voking the boss off you, ignoring the job role of OT and allowing all the adds to bother all the other party members. I've thus made it a rule to ALWAYS be on OT position when possible, because the only thing most other Tanks can seem to think about is waving their e-peens around. O/
Had a really great wod today though. Other tanks knew they were outclassed, the war even had defiance on, never lost hate in sword oath, never died, and one of them even decided to take the dog after I requested it, citing that I like to pick up the adds. The run beforw that I left was a train wreck though. while moving to grab angra, this barely i90 tank provokes, bard hits it, now I've got to chase the thing as it runs between everyone, never even having gotten a hit on it, and don't get it until several healers are dead. Then I'm I'm tanking him I'm mid for a bit, the 90 tank provokes, and I Proceeded to stand there as everyone died, eventually leaving the instance.
looks like tc wants the mt to die with 3 stacks or level 100 death. If you can't handle the mechanics in the fight or the boss being turned for a split second you should stop playing this game if you are to lazy to move.
W/ my low iLvl I have been learning to just let the WARs/Other PLDs in the CT runs have their little contest while I sit there in SwO slicing whatever's on the healer...and now the person who posted it earlier has "Spin me right round" stuck in my head. Bonkers.
I say this to myself a lot when I'm on Monk.
And it's not just the Mainyu boss in WoD, either, but damn near every boss & dragon in the Crystal Tower raids. There's nothing quite like attacking an hourglass behind the Mainyu and suddenly getting hit by its line attack and you die because the tanks are measuring how big their e-cocks are.
Sure, tanks need to be able to dodge certain attacks from bosses, but I've observed tanks that dodge WITHOUT spinning the boss around like they're playing Spin the Bottle. And when there are multiple tanks, fighting over who is going to main tank the boss, even I eventually go "Fuck it. I'm just gonna stand here, and attack anything that so much as looks at the healers funny, until the tanks have it sorted out."
Angra does not change the direction its facing while casting either of those. The MT can easily dodge them while not altering the boss' facing. The only time you get spins is between casts and an OT is standing with the DpS and tries to steal hate off the MT causing the boss to turn to face the OT standing with the DpS.
Right? I don't get what's so hard about dodging a mechanic and moving back quickly after it's gone off. *shrug*
That's inevitably when he uses the "Stare" attack and cleaves into the raid. xDQuote:

If you guys can't do your thing while I lead the handsome Mr. Mainyu on a romantic slow waltz around the perimeter of thearenadance floor, then I am not the problem.
I wonder if all the JA gamers who can read English pop over to our forums to get their fill of hearty lolz over our endless rants about how bad the players are over here.
even my 1st time main tanking WoD, I never running in circles. Why I even want to do that? ^^;
This should be already general rules from tank that they have to make mobs facing away from rest of party. If I need to dodge, I will move away from attack zone, but then I always come back resume on same spots.
Or there are any other tanking methods that requires you to move around alot? Like Brayflox normal mode's final boss where you have to steer drake from poison zone to avoid it's regenerative buffs? :?
