Feature requests: adjust Cutscene Skip feature

Those things were around a little, but maybe better talk about?

Problem is, summarized:

Lets immediately take the Inn out of options, because:

What it can be a possible solution, is:

1. have the text bubbles automatically advance themselves after a reasonable time to read them. It already happens here and there, so I guess will not so difficult to have it happen always, to avoid afk or troll-locking;
2. have a duty's CS to skip only when everyone in the duty have chosen toskip it (remember GW, mates?);
3. have an adeguate bonus for each CS have been viewed in the duty. This makes everyone happy. I expect a 5 minutes cutscene have much more bonus than a one minute one :cool:

Hmmmmm ok while this may seam like a good idea at first I need to ask you something.

Are you trying to encourage people to boot new people?

No way will we ever be rewarded by watching a Cs and this would cause a bigger problem because yes people will kick the new people.

And the inn dose have all the Cs from the last 2 dungeons in the main story their just separated a bit and jumbled between main quest Cs and duty Cs.

Personally I would like to see a "watch all" button in the journal, so I can watch all the cutscenes belonging to one quest/dungeon in sequence without interruptions. It would be the next best thing to actually being allowed to watch them in-dungeon.

It does indeed have them all. they are not 100% sequential, however. Some are considered main scenario cut scenes, while some are instance-specific cut scenes, and are sorted as such.

DF is meant to have zero restrictions ever. The only case I can see this as valid is if it was a preformed party in PF, with the tag (no skipping cutscenes) active. If you enforce this as a general rule, say goodbye to veterans helping speed up queue times and knowing useful strats to help along progression.

They tried this. More bonus = more incentive to clear fast, for efficiency. It will not make a positive difference at all.

It is a proposal, you decided it will never be implemented? Didn't knew you are the SE's chairman.
Edit: on second tought, it already is implemented: the new player bonus, that you lose if you kick him. Make that bonus distributed only on cs view, maybe incentivate to avoid all that attitude of "skip cs or gtfo" a good number of players have.

Even if that true (is it?...), watching cs at the inn is still pretty lame and does nothing have to share with the feeling to make the duty within. I guess I'm not alone on thinking this.

You got the problem. Some people looks at new players just as a bonus resource for farming, But those noobs don't have to get in the way, watching cs and slow your speedrun, right? I got your point. Cannot agree, again. :cool:

It's also a dead horse because SE hasn't added long cutscenes in the middle of their dungeons since Praetorium. If a dungeon has a story-related cutscene now it's usually at the very end when you've already cleared the duty specifically to avoid problems like this.

SE probably needs to separate cutscenes a bit more. Like, if there is a long cutscene upon entry to a dungeon, why not send us to the dungeon entrance to watch that cutscene before we queue up? That way, people can take as long as they wish because they're not in the dungeon. Obviously, exit cutscenes can be as long as needed. Cutscenes within the dungeon may need to be kept short, but I think just being able to watch the entry cutscene before you enter would go a long way.

That makes sense. Maybe some "You now have faced and defeat XXXXX" between them, to replace the boss battle you have in the duty, just to make some sense when you see all of them attached. It is much better than how things are now, for sure.

If you want grind tomes, DF is the least efficient mode to do it. Pro grinders will premade and farm 1st and maybe 2nd boss of some duty. See Brayflox of the old times, as example.

Just because the new player bonus is in there didn't make it any better I hated skiping the Cs but every one needs to under stand that every one only dose main story roulette either once a day or not at all because they have other stuff they want done. So they want these long boring thing done fast if they bother doing it. Then no one who's new to the game would get this done if your ideas are put in.

So lets take your ideas and what I said and put something else in to make every thing much worse.
you no longer get tomes from the last 2 8 man story dungeon and every one must do it at lest once a day or next day they get locked out of DF.

Not sure that would be necessary, as cutscenes usually involve boss fight intros and aftermaths anyway. That there has probably been a fight in between shouldn't be a terribly obscure inference. ^^

The Story Roulette plus the new player bonus is over 200 tomes for all of 15 minutes of work (assuming most of your party is moderately geared). You can't get any more efficient than that. If you artificially inflate the amount of time the story dungeons take to clear and/or lower the reward veterans will stop doing the daily roulette and the queue times for new players will skyrocket.

Personally, I think they should just make the CS unskippable and that would end all harassment since people wouldn't have a choice.

You should really rethink this logic. New people drastically benefit from using DF because it brings those willing to go back and do old content together with new players. If people go to do old content, but you FORCE the 30-some minutes of cs idle time upon them, you are in effect asking these people to not join content like praetorium, ever again.

Good luck with the return of those hours of queueing that existed before DF was implemented. The consequences hurt new people far more with your so-called idea, than what we have now, and in all fairness, wouldn't really effect the rest of us, as we will still have plenty of alternative instances to run which reap greater rewards efficiency.

Mhm... this is what OP wants. The consequence is you are compelling much...much longer queues due to mostly first-timers even bothering to join. Just like the pre-DF experience.

Well, "Roulette" does not means you always get the fastest duty avail. You also may get clueless players and on the worse, abort duty because party not able to pass some check. That's far from efficient. Then you also have to add the wait times on queue. It may work for tanks and (a little less for) healers, but dps are out the game: 15 min of work + 20 min of wait = goodbye efficiency.
