so far this morning I have been unable to get in game at all on the Primal NA data center. continuous error 2002 then crash to desktop
i have reset router and modem. updated and rebooted pc
Windows 7,
Charter STL, 100mb service
ethernet
tried using several different DNS servers, including googles public DNS
Mines doing the same thing. Only with Data Center Aether, all other data centers work.
I am also with St. Louis Charter Communications.
90002 here, but we all have the same in common, Charter in St. Louis, sounds like they are the culprit, go figure
I'm getting the same as DarkMeister. Also in STL with Charter. Can't get into Adamantoise on PC or PS4.
Always problems with Charter.. Guess I will be making a phone call here soon.
Good luck with that, it probably had something to do with the nasty storms last night
I can connect to every data center except Primal.
is there a local ffxiv pref file that may have become corrupted that we can delete?
i would think if it was charter related changing the DNS server would bypass their routers. at least it worked last year when their DNS went down for a week. i am able to access hulu, netflix, all blizzard services, etc.
combined with the fact that i can access every data center except for my home makes me think it is a local file that may have become damaged after yesterday's patch.
I don't think so Nepher.
Im not able to connect to Aether at all. But when I make a character on Primal it gives me a 90002 error when I try to log into the character after creation. Same problem DarkMeister, and the stimpster has.
I believe its Charters problem.
(I'm also able to access my blizzard games, ESO, psn, xboxlive, and others.)
I tried calling Square Support and they said to change my TCP, but I'm computer dumb. If anyone knows what this means give it a shot.

connection seems fine. able to connect to anything i want. and large packet transfers are fine.
only issue is connecting through the game to the home data center of my character. other data centers loading correctly
Same problems here.
On charter internet as well, about 3 hours west of Saint Louis, MO. Internet connection is fine for everything else.
All Data Centers work except for Aether.
I've been on Aether for the last 30 min with no issues. no lag. zone loading rapidly. still unable to connect to Primal, my home data center
Giving Square Tech Support another call.
Well now they know it might be a regional issue. They know about this thread now.
Same here. Home is Primal, can connect to others but the connection is always poor.
I live just 15 minutes east of St. Louis, using Charter. My internet's fine, as I've tried loading up other games. Something about this game isn't talking nicely to St. Louis Charter.
Still having issues ONLY with connecting to the Primal Data Center
so far I have
Reset Router, and Modem
set an internal static ip address and forwarded ports
54992-54994
55006-55007
55021-55040
to the PC.
I used PortForward Network Utilities to verify the ports were open on the PC
Contacted Charter Communications to verify they were having no known issues
I am able to connect to other services including but not limited to: Hulu, HBOgo, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Battle.net, ESO, Wildstar, Origin, Steam, Star Wars: The Old Rebuplic, iTunes, Ventrilo
The route seems to be failing somewhere in Montreal, Canada. Getting a time out error/TCP Retransmission in wire-shark at IP 199.91.189.74 when i try to log in to my data-center. After some googling it seems this has been source of a lot of lag issues in the past as well.
Also tracert to neolobby02.ffxiv.com(199.91.189.74) fails miserably at hop 9.

Here's an interesting thing to note: I can't log in on my main.
I made a brand new character on my main world, and no issues!
What's going on SE?
using wire-shark
looks like it is failing to communicate with 199.91.189.93
It seems to be acting really strange. When I connect to Primal I get success through 199.91.189.93. But if I try Aether I get a fail on 199.91.189.74. However, it seems that its the complete opposite for you.
I get a successful ping on
neolobby04.ffxiv.com (199.91.189.93)
neolobby06.ffxiv.com (199.91.189.106)
But not
neolobby02.ffxiv.com (199.91.189.74)
in either case the breakdown is with
Ormuco ORMUCO-FIBER-NETWORK (NET-199-91-184-0-1) 199.91.184.0 - 199.91.191.255
Eidos ORMUC-SE (NET-199-91-189-0-1) 199.91.189.0 - 199.91.189.255
Well there doesn't seem to be any indication that they are working on the problem. I am able to make a new character on my world but my main guy won't log on. I hope the data isn't lost somehow. Would kinda suck when you spend over a year making the guy.

Charter is now saying that there is an outage impacting some internet routing and trafficking. more then likely one or more of their routers/switches. no eta at this time
No ETA, its Good Friday which means nobody that knows what they are doing will be in until Monday to fix it.....
I came here to see if anyone else is having the same issue as me..........and........well I have Charter.....seems they are kinda sucking right now.
Seriously outdated information. That IP was re-purposed years ago and is now just a webserver. It hosts the websites mostly for games in the Square/Eidos library. If you ping www.justcause2.com or a host of their other games it will return that IP. If you do a dig on that IP you should find a dozen or more sites still live on that IP. It is hosted through iWeb and not Ormuco--and it's geolocation puts it in a different section of Montreal that is a good 10 minutes or so drive away. In other words, you are on different circuits and will likely take a considerably different route to get there.
The proper addresses for the Canadian based services start with 199. For their datacenters, the even numbered neolobby addresses are the correct ones to use for North America (02, 04, 06) while the odd numbers (01,03,05) are for the lobby servers in Japan. These designations may change though once the EU based services get up and running. We will have to see what shows up in the executables after the 3.0 release (those names are actually in the game files).
My home data center is Mateus, but I switched to Faerie and had no issues, so it only seems to affect home centers? Definitely feel this is more of a SE issue and not with ISP since everything else seems to work.
I can connect to anything but my main. I can create new chars. in the same world as my main, and even log onto my roommates account and play from both computers in the house. Anyone else having this problem?
Sounds like something may be breaking down at a VLAN again. Saw this happen back in the spring of 2014. TWC caught it just on the other side of Cogent's exchange. Could be something funky going on with port/IP assignment for that one character or something. Each world service is hosted on multiple IP's, and your session is assigned a specific port ID as well. Just spit-balling...hard to say if it's plausible or not without looking at whether the assignments change when you switch characters though.
If you can pull in your ISP's Tier3 guys to look more closely at the specific route used for your characters, they may be able to narrow it down better so we can pass on relevant details to the proper party.
Same issue all day. I live closer to Kansas City (Warrensburg, MO) but I also have Charter as my ISP.
I've tried intermittently logging into FF multiple times throughout the course of the day and I've been smacked with the 2002 Error after clicking "Start" from the main menu every time. Any news on the issue? It's obviously localized from what I've gathered on this thread.
Checking in like everyone else. St. Charles area, Charter ISP, can't connect to home data center (Primal).
So I went back and tried other data centers to see if it was widespread. I can connect to Aether just fine, just not Primal (where my main is).
