Just a simple request.
When I'm not online, I still can have a conversation with my friends.
Some kind of messenger that SE can use, let say I'm offline then my friend want my assistance so they ping to my messenger like a other messenger, Whats App, Lime etc.
Chat for offline player through Loadstone or Eorzea Libra.

Exchange Skypes or something? Right now if SE put up some kind of chat function for players to keep in touch outside of the game, gil sellers would have $$$$$ in their eyes and it would be abused and we would be harassed even further by them.

You can chat to your FC through web chat, even you're not in game, that is what I mean.
Not all player into forums, and not all my friends are in same country.
Do u know WoW armory and Blizzard Battle.net desktop app? It's same like that.

Hmmm I could see this being useful. But as someone mentioned RMT. I'd limit RMT by simply making it possible to hookup to only FC or LS chats. No tells, shouts, yells(doesn't make sense since you are not in any zone).
I wouldn't mind it. -

FC/LS chat is all you really need for out-of-game stuff, plus it avoids the issue of not having an actual in-game location that you need to be associated with. In games that have it, it's a great way to stay in touch with people in your guild when you can't log in for whatever reason.

You can always form a whatsapp group with your freecompany, Linkshell and friends. I used to do that alot with another mmorpg last year and with a limit up to 50 people in one group, you can make 3 different groups and be able to chat with them outside FFXIV.

I am guessing the other people don't want to give their info. A lot people are giving good ideas of how to keep in touch with your FC. I don't how, forgot the program, but a guild member is able to talk to us on the FC chat and he is not even in game.

It sometimes gets troublesome keeping in touch with friends who prefer a half-dozen different messenger clients.
I'd imagine a system like this would make it more possible to keep in touch with friends on other servers, too. -

Start what? Reality? I'm a software developer. I've heard the "well, why don't you just..." or "well it's pretty simple" and other such statements all the time. It's a very real part of the job that I deal with all the time. People have no idea how much work or effort goes into "simple" software requests. Going back on topic, I would like to see the Lodestone upgraded, and if it's supposed to be the FFXIV social network, a lot of social networks have their own chat clients now. Probably not the main focus of their development at this time, but who cares? I like the idea. -

I've seen this in other games.
It usually gets dropped due to either the company no longer wishing to maintain it, partially because of what Tiggy is pointing out, or it gets neglected because cellphones, facebook, voice chat programs, etc. are easier and more reliable.
And indeed, this is NOT a simple request, especially since in the end it would have only one or two real, practical uses that can be filled so easily by a third party program it's simply not worth the time and effort. -

Yoshi leaked that another smartphone app like this is coming in Heavensward. It will allow you to chat with your fc/friends.
