The relic quest just isn't something for me. I got the Atma for my main and just, ugh I never want to do that again. I'm getting back into the game after a 4 month break and I see that added the final pieces to the puzzle.
Questions is do you guys think they will ever change the requirements for this? Like halving the books, or adding in an option to skip the manual upgrade points for animus like get a premade one?
I ask because it's not that I don't have the time. It's the fact that getting the initial relic and then the +1 was thrilling and exciting. The rest of the Zodiac of the Braves is just.. well boring to me. (inb4 its an mmo, expect the grind) it just doesn't peak my interest. While I do want my BLM staff eventually I just can't see myself doing it.

I think there's a slight chance they might nerf maybe a few things (cut books required down to 6, increase Zodiac dungeon drop rates) just a bit, but I can't say for certain. They are meant to be long grinds keeping you subscribed to the game though, even if they nerf the quests further they're still going to be incredibly boring to do.

Nexus Light doubled
If you can't do it then maybe doing the relic is not designed for you.
By the time you're going to up it to the Zeta, you'll have plenty of others options in term of weapons. -

With 3.0 (or 3.1?) a new weapon quest start where people can jump in without a Zeta weapon, while people with a Zeta weapon get an advantage in the next weapon quest.

If they are going to adjust anything, it will just be stuff like lights, atma drop rates, dungeon drop rates, alex drop rate and the amount of currency you need to buy a book/alex map. I don't see them adjusting the books really, except maybe adjusting the amount of monster kills you need for each. Books are definitely the outlier here as the contents of the books haven't been changed themselves only how much currency you need to purchase them and the FATE spawn rate.
Maybe they'll end up removing/adjusting the meld fail rate on novus but somehow I doubt it.
Considering that they are gating the expansion behind the main story, they need some way of funneling people into 2.x dungeons so newer players can get through them without a gross queue time like Cape Westwind/Garuda Story. -

The Alexandrite stage is by far the worst, a combination of around 1 Alexandrite per 15 fates on average, 1 daily quest Alexandrite map and between half a dozen dailies or dozen high level dungeon runs for enough to buy 1 map with soldiery or having to grind a lot of hunt marks to get a single Alexandrite. Needing 75 in total and also the need to buy or farm more than 75 materias of various types to infuse when take into account infusion failures. All this just for one single stage of the process. This stage needs more nerfing and I suggest they open up Alexandrites for sale in the Marketboard so people can farm and sell to other players any additional ones they might get or have.

With Hunt farming, getting alexandrite was pretty easy (a month ago...).
as for FATE it's over 1~3 / hour -

The alexandrite stage isn't too bad outside the materia. They need to nerf the materia part badly. The only way I can really think of how to do that is to up all the meld success rates. (Although, I've always been salty that we can't convert dungeon drops or tome rewards. That alone would make materia cost less).

Gods no, Alexandrite and Animus was easy pz, Zodiac was by far the worst other then the initial atma grind before rate increase. 1 have 1 Zeta, 2 Animus, 1 Novus and 1 atma weapon so i know all to well....
Cost however for Novus was just ... bleh gross
Alexandrite you get random drops from fates (which they increased), 1 a day from doing Expert Roulette and also they can be purchased with tomes and hunt seals
I hope Zodiac quest line gets changed that would save so much more time and sanity -

I was just thinking that maybe if they changed the books to:
-Kill 5 monsters of 3 species
-1 fate
-1 dungeon
more people may be inclined to actually take the time to do it. I know people spent hours and hours grinding that out and my hats off to them for putting up with that grind. I'd even be willing to take a hit on the next content having to do a couple things harder than those who have it done already or hell give them an item for doing it or jump start them to the next progression. I don't see many people running around with i135 weapons fully upgraded, a lot of people I talk to on my server just go for the coil weapons and leave it at that.
I want my BLM staff, but I just don't find the enjoyment in spending all that time for the weapon when I can be doing other content and having fun with the game. -

I'm at Nexus stage with two weapons and the stage I like the least so far is Zodiac. Since I've started it, I've had to run dungeons so much that I am almost finished gearing up my alts with soldiery, bought two soldiery weapons, bought four books for my black mage atma, bought Alex maps to get Alex for black mage weapon when I get to that stage, and picked up extra sacred spring waters. At least in the atma stage, fates only take a few minutes so if an atma doesn't drop, nbd, just try another fate. With the Zodiac stage you might spend 30-40 minutes in a dungeon and not get a drop. It's really off putting.

Everything up to and including Zenith is fine and dandy.
Atma hunting is a lot easier since its nerf, but can still be incredibly frustrating for many players.
Atma book grinding is incredibly boring, largely impounded by the long wait on many of the Fates.
Alexandrite hunts are time consuming, but the real penalty here is the materia which can get immensely expensive or time consuming.
Light farming is not fun even in my wildest delusions. It's long-winded and dull, and the 'boost' it got just made a long grind only slightly less long. -

I'm slow to my relic but my only complains thus far was waiting on FATEs for books (the rest is easy) and collecting the Alexandrite. Yes the costs are lower but I've yet to get one from a FATE (FATE grinding, yuck) and I only average about 1.5 a day. I'll try to grind this weekend but the most I've ever gotten is 4 in a day by having a surplus of soldiery. I've heard once you hit lights it's super fast.

I have noticed something that makes the fates easier, though. It is probably just confirmation bias but I've found that when one of the fates in your book pops, head to the zone where one of the other fates is immediately after. It will usually pop just after you get there. I've had this happen consistently enough that I use it with every book now. The other day I needed Bellyfull for a book but when I got to Coerthas it was at like 50% so I didn't bother. Instead I went to Aleport for the next fate, King's Justice, and sure enough it started not long after I got to the Isle of Umbra.

I think the grind is fine tbh, now that I have one zeta and one zodiac I am feeling bored cause I don't have any other job I want to get relic for, so all I can do now is farm zeta for whm, but light/zeta farm is the worst of the grinds imo.
And I admit the books are probably worse than light farming. The dungeon parts are allright, the leves too, the enemies is soooo boring, and the fates suck so much. I spent 2hrs 30 min on one fate, and since then I never wanted to do that part ever again -

I don't think I've waited longer than 15-20 minutes for any of the fates since the frequency on them was increased. There's usually book mobs in the same area as the fates, so I kill those while I'm waiting. Otherwise I craft a bit, usually making gear to spiritbond while I kill my book mobs. I made a killing off materia from wearing level 49 gear while I kill my book mobs/fates, and I also got my chocobo massive amounts of experience taking him with me.Quote:

Nexus light farming is the most tedious relic stage imo. There's just no way to make it any shorter. When you're on your second relic and beyond, at least you can do Nexus/Zodiac at the same time, so you overlap running for your drops with getting some light. Nexus light is still tedious as hell. I'm glad they finally threw us a bone with Zeta.Quote:
