Advice for Bard DPS~

So I'm sitting at i125 bard, with zeta bow (not most optimal melds, heavy on the accuracy due to not enough money to put full crit in there.)

In T12 with my raid group, and other than not being 100% comfortable with the fight yet as we're still in the learning phase of things, I can't seem to push more than 350 dps. Other BRD in my group wearing relitavely the same gear (his bow is optimizes with full crit full det) and he's doing 450+ DPS in T12.

I mean, I'm putting up my DoTs, keeping Straight Shot up 100% of the time and using my cooldowns as they become available. I'm just not sure whats going on?

I know overall I'm accuracy heavy, sitting at 562 due to no luck with coil drops other than belt. Crit is at 558, Det at 301; without food. Using HQ Apkallu omelettes for extra crit.

I can't seem to find a decent guide that will explain where I'm lacking.

Are you using Songs? Is he floating with AoE in 3rd phase?

Are you handling bluefire? If so are you picking it up as redfire finishes casting? and last, do you make sure not to take bluefire as the phase is about to transition to p3? Having bluefire during p3 will rape ur dps....

Pop ur buffs after u do redfire. Make sure ur dots are refreshed before you pick up blue fire. Bluefire makes u do basically no damage so u want to have it as little as possible ofc. DON'T accidentally use buffs when ur about to pick up bluefire and don't refresh dots when u have it either.

I'm using ballad during the Bennu phase to keep our healers' MP at full for more Cure III potential, otherwise, no I don't use songs until that phase usually.
And what do you mean by floating with AoE? :)

I always foe at p3. Our blm triple flares. Are you sure the whm needs mp in p3? Ours definitely doesn't, even with solo healing p1 to let the sch dps. I do ballad in p4 tho, if he needs it.

Good point, perhaps I'll see about ballading so early. Our group is fairly new to T12, so both healers are healing hard in the first few phases, so when phase 3 hits (bennus?) their MP is at about half, and that phase has massive aoe dmg; cure III seems to be very necessary at this point so I pre-emptively ballad to make sure they don't run low.

Sorry for hijacking your topic, but what is the group dps supposed to be so we can push to third phase with four bennus? Maybe I can finally convince my static to make the SCH do bluefires instead of me.

Cure III should not be needed in phase 3. It also doesn't have to be very healing intensive for the WHM if the SCH is healing too. As WHM there I personally only cast Medica 2 on party (timing the first one after either first or second AoE hits depending on party HP) and keep regen up on both tanks, then focus on Cure 1s (and 2s when needed / freecure) on tanks when needed. Medica 2 does very nice HoT on whole party between the AoEs. I only cast Medica 1 if the group is for any reason at low HP right before AoE.

Our group uses LB on boss in phase 2 (it's LB1 I think...might be LB2, not sure and can't check now) and we're close to 3 bennus (usually get 4). We get 1 blackfire set in phase 1 and move to phase 2 when 2nd set is about to appear.

Is that 350 DPS for the completion of the fight?

It would be good to know what your damage is on Dummy over 4 minutes to see if you have all your priorities down.

The bard in my group did around 390 at i124 with the Augmented Bow, doing the Blue Fire mechanic.

It would be a lot easier to figure out where you're losing dps if I could watch a video of you doing t12. If you want to make a recording and post the link I'll give it a looksie and see if I can't find anything that clearly needs improvement. Short of that all I can say is if you wanna improve your dps you gotta be greedier, yell at your healers until they dont need ballad, make your healers do redfire so you can dps nonstop, multidot bennus, etc.

You only need to keep up near the end of redfire's cast time. You can also apply your DoTs to phoenix and the bennies for the first and third redfires before you pick it up.

OP, is there a reason you don't use the augmented ironworks belt? It is your bis. I think it would be a dps gain over the dreadwyrm belt even un-augmented with how much accuracy you have. Use black truffle risotto for food. The accuracy on apkallu makes it a total waste.

Do you try to make sure your dots get buffed with your dps cooldowns? Are you handling bluefire?

dont use foe's... it drops your damage by 50% so you wont be able to deal 1k dps(but not per second). lolol

Can't remember what's the raid dps needed but it's doable even with Bard on bluefires, you just need to push to 51.9% before the 5th bennu comes out either using LB or without using LB, my group does it without LB, on my group first clear this was when Phoenix is casting the redfire before the 5th bennu comes out. My group have both melees always on Phoenix with our Bard and BLM on bennus.

1 thing you must becareful when pushing 4 bennus is that the person doing blue/red fire did not that the bluefire at phase change, they will have gimp dps for a short duration of time until it wears off, happen to our Bard a few times cause she never pay attention to the HP % and sometimes we forgot to call out lol

I don't think I'd call it short man. Bluefire debuff is 60 whooping seconds, if you happen to accidentally catch it at 52-53% and it phases, your BRD is pretty much fucked.

Bluefire is 90% dps reduction for 60s. So yes, it sucks... :)

What I end up doing for my group that helps keep my dps up is, since I know where my healers will need ballad or my dps will need paeon (very seldom) I have worked in those songs only during phase changes minus emergencies what you could alway look at doing to is if you know your healers will need ballad going into p3 you could play a short ballad and swap to foes. Unless I misinterpreted what you typed you have 2 bards in your party as well if thats the case you could have whichever bard isn't playing foes BV a short ballad and as soon as BV falls turn it off ballad and throw it back up during the transition into p4. Then after that if possible drop ballad once the combat kicks up again.
