So Heavensward is basically Coerthas the expansion?

Looks like we get to look forward to a whole expansion worth of helping the elezen oppress religious minorities and goth outfits everywhere. Why couldn't it have been built on the Ixal flying island myth instead? I was really hoping for something better looking, trees! clouds! waterfalls off floating islands and stuff, less iron and more cloth.

Actually I don't see enough Coerthas in the promotional materials. Sure the plot is supposed to be about Ishgard but more than half of the zone still isn't confirmed as returning. It's more about Dravania and the skies above.

Bet you anything the quest chain starts with "Thar be heritics up north! Go kill them!" and yes I just watched the video, looks like goth and heretics all the way down as far as I can tell. Hope I'm wrong though

Didnt notice the Dravanian areas? Swamplands, Forests, misty areas? What about it says Goth? The architecture? This is a medieval fantasy setting... Some people amaze me with their complaints....

I just hope they add all the old sections of Coerthas from 1.0.

It doesn't really matter where its set too IMO as long as its fun, all these floating islands give me Riverne - Site #A-01 / B01 vibes.

Totally agree with you, and is 1 of my favorite areas in FFXI! I can't wait to go to the sky!

(4.0 better be Sea, because that is my favorite Expansion in FFXI) Of course not copy cat, but the general theme of it all :).

I wouldn't be surprised to discover that the Moogles and the Ixal are from the same floating islands.

No, it's Ishgard.

I think the expansions bigger then you expect, still more zones to see and from what we saw alot are outside Ishgard/Coerthas.
Also anyone notice the 20gb space needed for PS3 build? if thats just for Heavansward alone (not including ARR) its gonna be huge :p

I'm expecting more zones, hopefully another citystate/hub, to be revealed before launch :)

EDIT: Possible 2.5 SPOILERS.....

I think the Ishgardian faith and state is in for a shake up in the main storyline, remember the Ascien we saw at the side of their leader, also Midgardzomer suggesting that the Dragons didnt start the war Ishgard did. I think we'll be seeing trouble ahead :p

To me, that says that Heavensward alone you will need 20 GB of space.

The only thing gothic about this expansion is the architecture in Ishgard. Well, that and the rare character with the palest skin color they can manage and black hair, but that's more on the player side and less the game's side.

Also, I find it hard to believe we'll at all be hunting heretics unless it's to help them, considering what direction the 2.5 story is taking us...

I hope there isn't too much snow to be honest. The only game in which I enjoy the snowy environment was Skyrim and The Last of Us.

Coerthas is the worst looking place to me in this game and the music is HORRIBLE.
Acyd's 2nd pic on the first page looks amazing. Kinda looks like Sky garden from TERA.

I'm not sure if it was anything more than vast temperature changes due to the fall of Dalamud. Due to certain events that would constitute a spoiler, a lot of aether got released back into the world so that may play a part as well.

They did say something about there being as much content as there was when the game was released. Rather that includes amount of zones or just overall in general l dunno.

I'm almost certain Shiva was behind the cold as its blocking access to Western Coerthas Highlands (Snow cloak) and there is a vigil (Iron?) there North west of Ishgard. I never played 1.0 so I don't know if it was a ruin like Stone/Steel vigil or not. From the videos I've seen it look like West Highlands is being added back in as a possible starting point for the new areas. Whether or not other areas are just being renamed in Coerthas wont be known until we get there and start rebuilding maps to compare to 1.0.

Well the Dravian Hinterlands have a very v1.0 Coerthas look to them.

Coerthas is probably my favourite place in the game; particularly around the streams and other bodies of water and the ruins (and that one crystal cave). The theme isn't my favourite, but it feels fitting in a blizzard running into dragons and other enemies. However I would also like more desolate/quiet snowfall themed music myself. To each their own!
