A plea from a raider to the development team- 8 months is too much

I love this game, I really do. I've played it since launch and I have tried to enjoy everything that's come out. I've done Zeta relic and never whined about it since I enjoy a grind, I've enjoyed playing Tripple triad and chocobo racing. I even enjoy doing quest I've missed because I love reading the story and learning that much more about the world.

All that said though, I really enjoy raiding. I love main tanking and going one on one with some of those big bosses and feeling like I'm accomplishing stuff.... But it's kinda rough for raiders and I was wondering if this could be handled a bit better in the expansion or something.



By the time Heavensward launches it'll have been roughly 8 months since the last raid content patch. I try to enjoy everything, but as someone who raids and gets plenty of gear that way, something like World of Darkness doesn't help me much since I have little reason to do it much more then when a friend wants to go or something. I'm not whining about it, I think that content should be there, it helps a lot of players and lets a lot of people get enjoyment out of the game! But for a raider, it's really rough to have not much added in that patch for us, at all.

I'm not saying there's not enjoyment to be had, and I'm not saying the flip side isn't true for people who don't raid, but can we find a better balance then making one side wait EIGHT MONTHS for new content? I mean it might be fine if it took us more then an hour or two to clear a week but it's only four bosses, and the last two don't even have trash! I mean the WoD dungeons atleast get flair and interesting lead ups and laugh time or something, but it's mostly just fights for an hour and then we're done as raiders.

I know it shouldn't matter a ton according to some people. Go play something else or whatever, right? And I can agree with you on that, but that kidna causes cracks to form in otherwise solid groups. Some people don't play as much, some people want to play more, and one side can get upset at the other, I'm seeing it happen all around in multiple groups!

I'm not asking for a huge change, just not eight months for content! Please!

I think they didn't intend for 3.0 to be pushed back so late. It's unfortunate because I agree 8 months is a really long time. It's going to be hard on a lot of groups who have been clearing. However, they are rebuilding the game. Yoshi-P had his hands tied to what he was able to do this expansion. He had to deal with the current system as it stood. Even our current stat and gear system was simplified from what it was in 1.0. A lot of things were not balanced well and more depth to the infrastructure of the game will make things much more interesting.

I'm hoping the wait will pay off because 4 bosses in 8 months with fluff content in between us a very long time. Hopefully we can all hold our groups together another three and a half months.

This man Knows nothing, Try running Labyrinth of the Ancient or ST again - I promise you'll wipe more than you did even when learning T13.

LotA is wipe city now. Bosses die in like 2 minutes, but nobody knows the fight so everyone wipes to the simplest mechanics.

I agree completly with you is a lot of time for new end-game raid content. I belive with Heavenward that wont happen again. The thing that happen was that coil was ready before CT was and that made the mess of catch-up patches. I really hope that with the new expansion we will have a more normal way od delivering raid content.

Egh...it's always going to happen. I personally don't mind the raid situation in XIV right now because i can barely get a party to clear t9 in cactaur, but for true endgame raiders with set times and a good static, there is no type of raid that will satisfy their needs.

Heavensward could release with 10 coil-level raid dungeons and by month 2, people will start complaining about how easy it was to play for 5 hours a day and exhaust it.

i aggree with this. there has been absolutely nothing for raiders in this game for a while. and a mere 4 bosses in that much time is just sad. this patch cycle they didnt even bother releasing any ex fights and the savage coils have been seemingly dropped as well with no mention of it anywhere.
our static has been clearing fcob for months now and is pretty much dead with 3 folks leaving just in this week and i myself don't intend to stick around for the coming drought till june either.

i wonder if even the casuals are going to stay subed around til june. what with the ridiculous rng crap everywhere.

well certainly high end raids last longer than your 3 faceroll dungeons and faceroll raid that is cleared day one (yes all that dev time was spent on something folks kill in one run) so they should make it a habit of releasing more of them. i mean look at yourself you are still going back to t9 to this day haha.

The only options would be:
(1) Space it out so you get 1 turn every couple of months instead of 4 turns every 6-8 months
(2) Help them multiply their staff and produce more content in the same amount of time by recruiting a few million friends to the game

Dev should put more time into playable rewarding contents like coil rather than repeated grind-fest contents like Gold saucer 1M MGP (for a mount !) with laughable TT tournament or relic shit. GS was fun for first few days but RNG craps involved everywhere and you can be very unlucky to obtain a card while the other guy got it first try. All of this RNG craps have only one purpose is to take players time, and this is very cheap way to do it.

In coil the boss have certain difficulty make you spending time to learn and even though RNG loots are bad, I still feel accomplished when i clear the turn, got new titles ,put a little bit more dps, more speed killing said turn, more coordination with your teammates etc. But with other trash contents i don't feel any fun nor accomplished. It's just repeat half sleep grind until I burn out or occasionally feel relief when finally got a card after 500 wins.

Are you really think these contents can keep us until 3.0 ?

I'm not a real endgame-raider myself and way more casual so I dont really care about it personally tbh but I'd still support this plea since I can imagine that its feels a bit bitter for people who are infact into this sort of stuff.

Because, and I got the impression that you missed that point, Rufalus, this isnt a person asking "Why isnt there more endgamecontent?!", this is a person trying to show SE "Hey, we DO care about this endgamecontent and we'd liked to have more of it - not much more but 8 months...?" Lets face it: Most of people arent doing (Final) Coil at all - no static, no interest, whatever. So its not a surprise at all that SE favours this majority my releasing content that fits their benefits more (but that can also be enjoyed by raiders ofc). Thats the reason threads like this are important though: To show SE that there ARE people who would like more raids and that it would be worth it to invest more time into content that most of the people wont ever see - or not for a long, long time...
(the (2)-option wouldnt change anything - its not only about subscriptions or money or staff - its also about the decision of they wanna invest time into developing content the majority of players doesnt care about)

I could imagine that they'll remove all existing coil + wod lockouts and remove the poetic cap with the upcoming storypatch

(3) Re-use existing art assets to create additional/experimental battle content that offers decent enough filler/side-grade pieces.

I wouldn't mind FFXI's Assault system in XIV. It'd let the XIV devs get more zone mileage out of the stuff they created, and provides a variety of distractions and different objections to clear the content.

How would that keep people busy until June? :P If I'm taking a look at how fast I'm getting the uncaped tomestones aka sols I wont be busy for 3 more month to get all the poetics-gear... and not everyone has/plays all classes :P

Also: the OP didnt asked to be kept busy with running old content again, he asked for new raiding-content to be added a bit more steadily^^

Time between first coil and second coil was 7 months, time between second and final was 7 months.

This only highlights the severe difference in the playerbase.

What to you is a waste of time, to others is their entire gaming involvement. People play the heck out of TT and Choco Racing, either because they really want the high MGP rewards, or because they really enjoy playing them. Or both. People can raid Coil for the same reasons - they really want the gear, they really enjoy raiding, or both.

Either way, Gold Saucer was 'anything' but a waste of development. It will keep long after any raid.

They do try to cater to all kinds of players somewhat as their strategy. I think it's obvious they wouldn't want to skew things in favor of the hardcore by diverting resources away from other kinds of content to provide more hardcore stuff that you say yourself most people won't ever see. Just from a business point of view, it doesn't help the game be successful to cater to a niche in exchange for less non-raid content.

I feel that way too. Manderville GS is a good value addition that many players can enjoy from a low level and it adds variety and uniqueness to this mmo when compared to others.
