Even thought I think the female miq'ote of FFXIV are extremely overrated, I think that males playing females, or females playing males, is none of your business. If it isn't going to actively affect you in any way, then what harm is it? A lot of people like to play the opposite sex in MMO's or video games because they want a different perspective on things. I'm a male in real life, and yet I love playing as females. Before you say "That's gay..." well, I am gay, but I also know a lot of males that are straight who also like to play female characters. Some like it for aesthetic purposes whilst others like it for sexual reasons (staring at a female all day whilst they play, etc.)

Basically, it's 2015 and who really cares at this point?

Back on topic- people who automatically assume they're talking to a girl simply because they see a female internet avatar are..well, literal fools.

The days when it may have been common for guys to play guys and for girls to play girls are long gone, if they ever really existed in the first place. If you want to know someone's real life gender, ask them - if they don't want to tell, you have three options;

1.) Assume their gender suits your preference and hit on them.
2.) Assume their gender doesn't suit your preference and don't hit on them.
3.) Realize they are in fact doge. So confuse. Much woof. Wow.

Most likely this is his problem and decided to come to the forums and complain about it.

Honestly though who cares??? Play whatever sex race class you want. That's like saying only kids and little people can play as Lalas and only tall and fat people can play Roe.

Like I said in a similar thread, I always roll female characters. They are far nicer to look at and I get to dress them up and what-not. It's fun. Call me a pervert, I really don't care.

I'm glad I received such a reaction. It's interesting to see how many people think it's about "sex", flirting, etc. It definitely sparked some anger, which I don't understand. People need to stop associating a virtual character's gender with a person's sexuality, it's starting to really piss me off as someone who doesn't care about all that. I've never ever once tried to identify with a character physically. Most of the video games I've played in my life had male main characters, playing as a female when I have the choice feels just too weird.
