Disconnected at random

So this is by no means a new problem but it's increased in frequency after 2.5.

I will be disconnected seemingly at random (error 90000 or 90002). This will be accompanied by absolutely no lag. I'll be going through my rotation or I'll be dodging mechanics or having a conversation or standing around doing nothing and BAM, disconnect.

I will immediately log back in to an error saying my character is already logged in. Then a few seconds later I'll be able to get back in.

This has been going on for MONTHS and it's getting to be really frustrating.

I mean... imagine trying to play the game like this. I'm going along just fine doing my job and then without warning (no lag at all) I'm disconnected. This is especially problematic during party play.

As a dps, when I come back in I have 0 TP because someone thought THAT was a good idea.
As a healer, my party probably died.
As a tank.... my party probably died.

It may even have cost me loot and/or player commendations just now as it just occurred in a WP Hard after the last boss but before exiting the dungeon. Can't possibly know if it cost me these things or not.

I don't have this problem doing absolutely anything else on the Internet, so I have to conclude it's a problem with the game or the net coding involved here. Please PLEASE look into this. I love the game, but having this constantly happening is beyond frustrating.

This issue started for me this evening. Getting the 900002 error with the disconnect. I have had no issues prior to today. Very frustrating, was able to play during the day today with zero issues.

I have been having the same problem ever since the 2.5 patch. I log in and get into game and no creatures, or players are moving. I can move and even attack, but the monsters take zero damage and npcs are nonresponive. Then within just a few seconds to a minute I am disconnected. I do not have this problem with anything else online. I have not had a single issue with this game until the patch. I have yet to be able to log in once since then and not have this problem. Please will someone look into this and fix it or at least tell me what the problem is.

I uninstalled the game and downloaded again to see if that helped, nope. I had a few issues during the day, but noticed that it has gotten MUCH worse from 1800 EST until now. I am currently in the queue for tech support. My gaming buddy in Canada has had zero issues, I am in the US. Boo. :(

I also had no issues until after the latest patch.

ya im getting the exact same issue as featal. Not one issue before patch 2.5 but since they put it out the games pretty much unplayable for me, showing anywhere from 2k-30k ping. Sh** needs to get fixed asap -_- just wanna play the damn game haha

Same, I resubbed for 2.5 after unsubbing in 2.1, and I was completely fine before 2.5. . I now get 90002 constantly and it gets progressivly worse after around 8 PM EST on weekdays. Being a Saturday I've had to deal with this all day so far. I think it may have something to do with how many people are playing, but not sure why 2.5 has caused these issues..

been getting the 90002 a lot here as well. i don't usually play in primetime, but I did last night and it was pretty bad. I couldn't play until after midnight server time. was playing fine for awhile earlier today but now I can't stay on for more than 30 seconds.

Problem usually happens for me when a hunt is going on in an area. The influx of people makes the area unstable. I can sit in a non-crowded area all day, but when a hunt comes, chances are I will get the 90002 error.

I myself am getting this.

I'm seeing the problem as well. I've reduced the complexity of my local network (removing my old Cisco switch) and will see if it repeats. But it seems very specific to FFXIV.

I am having the same problem, I already had 90K issues since 2.4 but now at 2.5 I got 900002 errors. it really gets annoying because its happening more and more. I am 100% i didnt had that problem before and SE Should really fix it...

For me the game is no longer playable. I have tried everything and can only conclude that it has to be the game that is the problem. I have tried using a VPN service to test if it was my ISP. I have tried just about every fathomable network configuration. I have no problems playing other games including other MMOs. I have a roommate that plays on the same connection and has no connection issue whatsoever, the only difference is he is on PS4.

I can't even progress a quest I am working on because the game will not stay connected long enough to do one dungeon. This is the result of my attempt in dungeon finder:

1st attempt: DC after 10 minutes
2nd Attempt: DC after about 5 minutes
3rd Attempt: DC after about 15 minutes
4th Attempt: Connected long enough to get in a group, then DC on second boss and was kicked before reconnect.

Simply put the game is unplayable since it is impossible to pass quests that require dungeon completion. I hope they fix this, its too good of a game to have to abandon for network reasons.

Same here, no problems at all before and now 90000 and 90002 all the time. My pc is online and only thing affected is FFXIV.

Well strike that... so removing my Cisco switch fixed problems until today. The new patch has kicked me twice while my work VPN didn't skip a beat... I would know if I was disconnected while mousing on a remote system. So the new patch (plus or mine old disconnection problems) something isn't right in the state of Denmark... sigh.

Actually that was the first thing I did. My router is pretty new but my cable modem was old and Comcastic so I replaced that about two weeks after I started having problems. Didn't help.

For the record, this isn't an issue I have with absolutely any other Internet activity including playing other MMOs. Only FFXIV has this problem. Given that, I tend to discount the possibility that it's any of my equipment at fault here.

That's good that you did your check. In my case there was bad hardware... unfortunately with the new patch as noted I'm getting disconnected again. And this time its ONLY realm reborn... sigh. So you guys are right somethings not right in their servers.

Hey, so it sounds like you are all having the same issue as a bunch of other people but I just wanted to ask you to take the time and post in the 90k thread made by the admin? They're collecting data for it and you can say you got the 90002 error as well but if you give them the info they need it might help them find the problem faster. This has been going on for months for me as well and I just want this fixed so I can play. On top of the 90k error, I'm getting the 90002 error, 5006, and 6001 error as well. So I feel your pain lol. Still, if you can take the time please post here. Granted it's 90002 for most of you but just mention that. Afterall since the patch it seems that the two are almost the same thing.

Anyway that was my 2 cents.

Have you verified there aren't issues along your route to the servers? Not on your end, or your ISP's localized segments (where they usually look when you call in)...but along the path you take to the server--between your location and Ormuco (SE's ISP).

Just saying.. there are lots of problems that can crop up between your local hardware and SE's hardware. Note these images are not static...they will get updated periodically throughout the day. At present, there are a lot of problems being reported--particularly in some hot zones that nearly all of us have to go through to get to the servers in Montreal. These are segments that SE has no influence over, but your ISP should. You can find details on more internet services like Netflix and other ISP's at the parent site here:

I haven't, but since this problem has been going on for months (nearly a year) and affects only this single Internet activity, it's unlikely to be a routing problem. It certainly wouldn't be any kind of outage, as it would have to have been out for a protracted period of time and the network infrastructure of North America is simply not THAT awful (it's pretty awful, but that's pushing it).

My connection was dropping like every 15-30 minutes. With my new workaround my connection is now super stable. Played for five hours straight without any connection drop today.

Well.. it's been almost a year now (March 2014) since filings were made at the FCC about how certain ISP's were intentionally neglecting to upgrade bandwidth at the exchange points, effectively choking bandwidth. Similar filings were made over a year prior from another company (TATA) as well. In the 2014 filings, it was revealed that even when one of their routing partners (Level3) that was trying to resolve the issue for some of these ISP's offered to pay a large portion of the costs for upgrades to accommodate the increased demands on the exchanges, the offer was rejected. These incidents have been a big driving force behind the Net Neutrality movement that has been going on for over a year now as well.

And this isn't the first time we've gone through these headaches either. Level3 went to AT&T about these kinds of issues back in 2011 as well...and it was still a problem when they filed with the FCC last year. I've been seeing it crop it's ugly head up off and on for various services (not JUST games) across different regions since I started gaming online almost 20 years ago. It is a known and documented problem in the industry...it is just kept under wraps so the unsuspecting public doesn't hold them accountable. We are paying them to maintain the networks and they keep jacking up the rates while the QoS continues to get lower and lower. So long as the uninformed want to go on blaming Netflix or the game developers for the shoddy network infrastructure... they continue to get away with over charging people for sub-par internet service.

So... yes... there is a pretty good chance that along the particular route(s) you may be getting assigned for getting to Ormuco in Montreal may have some segments that have been neglected for a long time. And here's the rub... so long as people continue to poo-poo the idea that there may be something going on between any number of the dozen or so hops between their system and the destination, it may never get resolved properly. That's how they've managed to get away with this "speeds up to X Mbit/sec" crap for 20 some-odd years. They won't guarantee a specific speed because they know they can't since they've grossly oversold the local bandwidth against their top-tier exchange's bandwidths.
