    Connection error 90002 because of Windows 8.1 system time deviation issue?

    Greetings everyone,

    like others I, too, have connection issues (error 90002). One thing I noticed is that whenever the disconnect happened there was a system log entry as the very same time in the Windows Event Log where it says that the kernel synchronised its time. So it seems, that whenever Windows updates it's system time to be in sync with either the BIOS (hardwore) clock or the internet time my client will disconnect. All of my recent disconnects had a corresponding time sync log entry, too. Maybe the reason is that the time difference in those sync cases is rather huge, like 2 minutes.

    Now, I cannot say why Windows's time deviates so quickly. Maybe it's because it's an old mainboard.

    I guess the FFXIV client/server gets irritated by the sudden time change somehow and results in a disconnect. Maybe this is some kind of a fraud protection.

    Maybe others, who also have the 90002 problem, can check their system logs, too?

    UPDATE!

    After messing around with Windows quite a bit I finally found a workaround. This is not a permanent solution but at least my client now has a stable connection. No more disconnects!

    What I did was:

    * run CMD as administrator
    * type: net stop w32time
    * type: w32tm /unregister

    This will disable clock sync comply but at least the FFXIV client isn't freaking out anymore.

    Cheers,
    Silvan

    wouldn't surprise me. In XI, it was an exploit for a sort of flee hack to out claim others. There could be a safeguard in place here to guard against similar abuse.

    You can disable the internet time synch feature by going to the last tab (Internet Time) when you go to change your date/time settings to see if it behaves any better.

    Thanks for your suggestion. I already tried this but it doesn't help. Windows still syncs its time - this time with the hardware clock. At least that's what the system log is telling me.

    Another approach might be to simply update update interval of the Windows System Time - as described here: http://www.thewindowsclub.com/change...terval-windows.

    I will try this and let you know.

    My client seems to be working now! See update note in the original post.

    I tried your solution but it seems to have broken my computer, in inclusion to not letting me access the actual clock (it says I need administrative access despite the only profile on this computer being admin), and when I tried to restart my computer it stuck on "shutting down" for a good half an hour before I had to manually hold the power button in to turn it off, and it also hasn't done a thing to fix the lag issue

    How do I reverse this?

    This thread definitely needs more attention. I am being disconnected at the 20th minute of every hour. I believe it also has to do with the time sync problem.
    I have never encountered error 90002 or got disconnected before patch 2.5 came out.

    Developers please take a look at this issue. I really love this game and hope to play it without these worries. Thanks~

    So as an experiment I decided to force a time sync by changing my Windows time (not CMOS time) about 20 minutes ahead.

    Instant 90002

    I also checked my event log during my last 90002 and found a similar time sync entry. I think you might have nailed the cause of this particular issue. I'm not surprised I didn't think of it before, since it is absolutely insane that this would cause a problem. But after reading the other posts here I think I agree this is some kind of ultimate kludge solution to fix a speedhack that was common in FFXI (FFXI calculated character movement speed based on CPU clock speed for some ungodly reason).
