Simply put, I do not want to fetch Rainbowdash from his stable, I want to retrive Rainbowdash from her stable.
short answer: no.
Long answer: They want to introduce chocobo breeding eventually and for convoluted story reasons, only males are available right now
But Rainbowdash doesn't want to be a her, Rainbowdash is a boy chocobo with boy feathers! Chocobo identity crisis counselors coming to a stable near you~ . . XD
To be more helpful though, when we get access to the Golden Saucer we'll have chocobo breeding - it doesn't make sense that we'll not at least have access to female chocobos. Maybe we can raise them too? If I recall correctly only Ishgard has female chocobos right now as they hold a monopoly, bastards.
The concern I have is that we can't ride our racing chocobos outside of a race, I really hope they don't do that. I suppose they may limit the amount of chocobos you have available to whistle at once "bind chocobo to whistle". But it would kind of suck to raise a beautiful female Rainbowdash and then only be able to ride her in the Golden Saucer.
From the New Year letter

There will be much to do in patch 2.5, and before we bombard you with more in part 2, we’ll be offering players a change of pace with patch 2.51, which focuses on the introduction of the Gold Saucer. It bears mentioning, however, that the establishment is known as the Manderville Gold Saucer in Eorzea. You’ll have to check it out for yourself to figure out where this moniker came from. Including chocobo racing, chocobo breeding, and the return of the FF card game Triple Triad, you can look forward to a fun and relaxing time in the Gold Saucer.
You know, that's exactly what boyfriend says every time I call my chocobo a she...but he also pointed out that the chocobo you're trying to cheer up during the Heavensturn event is a she, and I don't believe she was related to Ishgard, was she? Special circumstances and such I suppose, but yeah.
I don't like fetching Pineberry from his stable either. I'm still calling her a her.
I think the main problem is that it's named Rainbowdash.
While I really don't care overall I just would like to add to the discussion that I'm not a fan of retrieving Buttstallion from his stable either. Buttstallion will always and forever be a she. I don't care what the in game log says.
You can always just ignore the he, and just consider her to be a she. I'm a lore nut, myself, and I still consider my chocobo a she. Angelheart was my chocobo from Final Fantasy XI, and was awesome, so I have to have her here, pronouns be damned.
Everyone keeps telling you it's a he, but really how many people have actually checked the plumbing in-game? Until then, it's a female if you say it's female.
Hmm... it may be an effort in futility, but I'd have no qualms with male only chocobo breeding... happens all the time in nature apparently, so it would only be a natural possibility... As long as Boko is happy. I'd just assume he learned it from me :p
I wonder if I will be allowed to breed my chocobo with my partner's.
So, you want your chocobo to have a rack? Hmmmmm......

You're being excessively pedantic over something minimal. You're the only person that will ever see that it says "his".
You're saying that they now need to take the time to add in a new parameter for "Gender [X] or [X]" and then readjust all text assassinated with the Chocobo to say [X] or [X]. JUST so you don't feel vindicated that you wanted to give you Chocobo a terrible name.
For the time being that is an insane waste of the developers time, considering the Chocobo's gender has no bearing on anything bar "I fetched it from [x]" and the initial pick-up quest.

Why does everyone have to be so mean when I post something fun? :( I'm sure I'm not the only person that noticed it. I'd like it, but it's about as useful as 90% of the suggestions posted here (I want the option for my character to have wings! More hair! Wedding dress for roe men!!). I'm not going to go like "2.5 CAN'T BE RELEASED UNLESS MY CHOCOBO CAN BE A GIRL."
ASSASSINATE ALL THE CHOCOBO TEXT!
My little Kluke is a girl. I just pretend its a typo :3
Fun fact, it's not "breeding" unless a female and a male are involved. Offspring can only be produced from the genes of a male/female combo. That's REALLY what happens in nature.
Any other combination is strictly for pleasure and/or is behavioural in nature and serves no other purpose.
Based on your OP, it looked like a request, not a joke.
http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Joke
Please re-read your OP and tell me from a 3rd person PoV how this would even remotely come across as a "joke". (Bar the name you've chosen for it.)
Well. That's not entirely true.
Parthenogenesis /ˌpɑrθənɵˈdʒɛnɨsɨs/ is a form of asexual reproduction in which growth and development of embryos occur without fertilization. In animals, parthenogenesis means development of an embryo from an unfertilized egg cell and is a component process of apomixis.
Struggling here to remember exactly which particular insects/sea creatures have a single-gender, but they do exist.
Well yes, but we are talking about birds, of which we know how they reproduce (there's a string of quests in Bentbranch that explains chocobo raising). In a nutshell Chocobo reproduction is almost identical to Ostrich.
That being said, I'll keep on the lookout for horsebirds with their young popping out of them like jellyfish :p
Probably the fact that I start off with "blah blah reasons" rather that my request first (Talking purely about the body here. Subject has to be...subject-y.). Usually if people do that, you should know they're not even taking themselves seriously. At least that's my case. I don't see anything in the subject line that's funny, where are you finding it at?
You're kind of like the people who reply to my Many Deaths of FFXIV thread with "if you don't like it, don't play the game." Or "this game is nowhere near dying."
http://oregonstate.edu/instruct/ans-tparth/
Birds can do it too :P
(Although in this case it requires the egg, so only female stuff lol)
I'm not saying that's how Chocobo's reproduce. I'm replying in response to your "male/female" is the only way to reproduce in nature, statement.
Please see the above post.
That just comes across as wildly ignorant and flippant. It doesn't come across as a joke at all.
I don't see how that's relative. But you seem to have some severe difficulty in understanding what you type and what you say verbally and two completely different things.
"I kicked the dog" in text can be taken multiple ways when there's no tone/emphasis to go on. There's very little to go on.
As for the actual thread itself. I just looked it up, and I don't see how anything we've discussed here is related to it, I haven't told you to stop playing the game.
Based on your request (irregardless of whether it was a false request or not) it would require time to adjust. Time better spent elsewhere.
Just because you personally feel that something is important and vital, doesn't mean it's the best time investment.
Even I could be wrong here, the community reps might take note of your thread and pass it on saying "Players showed [interest/nointerest/dislike/like for [X]".
If you're posting on the forums with the expectation that everyone will understand what you're trying to say and how you're trying to say it.
Then you need to re-evaluate how you post. Because your "Many Deaths" thread comes across as serious to your interest as this one did (ignoring the ignorant "blah blah" at the start).
The actual Chocobos themselves (even during breeding/raising) were not refereed to by genders. I can't find anything solid to support that the Chocobos players themselves raised/used actually had any specific genders at all after you choose it, bar the initial attempt. I can't find anything on my Chocobo that refers to gender. (Mostly because people couldn't give a damn)

"Boy or Girl?
Male or Female? If you care which gender your Chocobo ends up being, once it hatches, you might like to know that it seems very hard to actually get new eggs to be the other gender in the event that your first one turns out to be a disappointment to your expectations, unless of course you use one of the breeding plans from Finbarr when you turn in two chococards for breeding... but even that is not guaranteed."
final fantasy has followed the same chocobo lore since ff5 with BOCO where female chocobos are unrideable, due to personality or nature, and males can be taught to have a raider, no final fantasy to date has gone against this lore.
Oh, you mean my chocobo's name? I suppose it could be funny, but considering my character name...and that my chocobo is really named that...

If my accounts were active, I'd try to get a better source, but that's the most I can do to prove.

Sometimes the auto url thing will cut out (). Pretty sure FFXI had female chocobos, but its been ages since I played.
Interested to hear more about only males can be ridden lore though, I never noticed that if it was true.
that is for a female chocobo to breed only, assuming what chocobo breeding in this game will be we will basically rent a female chocobo get the egg and then return the female chocobo, that dons change the point of rideable chocobos being male only :p but heres a fun fact the male chocobos you have are castrated so depending on your view of that some just call them female chocobos' since they aint male anymore (again depending on your view)
Again, its been a while but reading the guide it looks like you can breed to a particular gender http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Chocobo_Raising_Guide. I'm interested in this lore, I read the chocobo wikia already xD.
Is your chocobo a light blue color by any chance?
Born a boy, always a boy. It can want to be a girl, you can call it a girl, you can replace its boy parts with girl parts, but just like in real life it will always genetically be a boy.
I didn't know there was lore on the matter of male versus female chocobos. :p I just obtained my chocobo and considered it a female, since I named it Lockheart. I just figured the game had to call my chocobo a he or she so it went with he.
