Divorce...

Got married, tried to get a divorce to get this ring thrown away and so the spouse can stop creeping on me. Ring is thrown away on my part, but they can still creep on me because they have their ring....

I am lucky this individual is a friend, but for other players, How is that supposed to work when someone else is legitimately being harassed and the other individual decides to utilize the ring to stalk/creep on them? You give the individual the ability to divorce without consent of both parties, yet the other party who does not partake in the divorce can still reap the benefits of said marriage...

Friend wanted the stuff, and was willing to pay for the marriage to get the stuff. Like MANY individuals a lot of ppl just found random ppl to marry to get the clothing/mount/minion items.

I imagine this is part of the reason they have pay options, to make you think about whether you actually want to spend real money on them.

Im not sure how they can really harrass you. They have a ring on a 30 minute cooldown that lets them teleport to you, that's not that much worse than someone just /searching you and teleporting to the zone you are in.

There's supposed to be an npc to annul the wedding anyway, not as simple as throw away the ring. Not sure who or where it is, but go talk to the npc's around the chapel and see if there's a way to properly divorce yourself.

I don't get it.....how are they affecting you in anyway? What does being married in the game actually do besides allow you to teleport to that person with the ring? I thought it was all for show

Finally someone gets it. More than half these posts are about my own situation which I could care less about since, as I pointed out, I married a friend. My issue is the fact that the system can easily be abused due to the fact that Person A can still utilize the full benefits of the marriage despite Person B having a divorce. Being able to have someone you dont like teleport to you INSTANTLY every 30 mins vs someone having to search an entire map for you is completely different.

Also you say you don't care if you get stalked by a friend but then again you care?

You make no sense, you say that is can be abused when and where and who?

If you say your friend then you don't mind which isn't a issue and It sounds like you are making a issue out of a drop of milk, its not like everyone is gonna do what your friend did and refuse to drop a ring.

Are you simply trying to ruin the teleporting option for others by trying to make it a issue?

But nothing they do actually prevents you from doing anything. And if you blacklist them, they can't talk to you. At most, they'd just be in your line of sight

The guy already stated he doesn't mind his friend stalking him, which makes it a non issue but then accuses everyone that they will stalk and it will be a issue when it hasn't even happened.

I say don't worry about others, they might have much more of a iron gut than you think and start giving people the benefit of the doubt instead of doubting their ability to ignore others.

Time to make it so divorce can happen and one gets half of everything the other has, plus half of everything they make the rest of the game.

You are still missing my point: I care about this issue because it is a FLAW in the system that can ALLOW POSSIBLE harassment.

Who can it be abused by? Obviously you and many others have not taken the time to read my posts. I've said it again, and again, that it is possible this can be abused by individuals who wish to harass other players. For the 3rd time on this forum, I give my example: Person A and Person B are in a relationship. They marry in game. Relationship goes sour and Person A decides to leave person B entirely, but Person B is an asshole and decides to stalk Person A in game by utilizing the eternity ring.

I am not making a big deal out of this, when it is an issue that is already existant IN REAL LIFE. We don't need this kind of nonsense IN GAME. I don't know if you have ever had a relationship go bad, but people are only human. There is BOUND to be somebody who would maliciously use this function. I know I am not addressing the majority here, as most people who have went through with the marriage system are probably in a healthy relationship - be it friendship or love - with the other individual, but this is a loophole which could give fire to UNHEALTHY relationships.

No, I am not "trying to ruin the teleporting option for others". The teleporting system is a great benefit to players who are married. Am I trying to ruin the teleporting option for potential harassers? Yes.

Do tell me where I said EVERYONE is going to stalk each other. I think you are taking my point a bit too personally, since I never once said that this would be abused by EVERYONE to harass individuals. I like logic, not emotion. Why wait for an incident to happen before you fix it, when it could be adverted entirely?

I know deep down inside, the creepiness is the reason why you married this man. Maybe some marriage counseling?

All the weird drama aside, there IS apparently a divorce option in the game. Not entirely sure where but, I'd try the wedding NPC's.

First you would have to meet a creeper and I am sure that if just a hint of creeper was in that person they wouldn't get bond with that said person, I am sure people do it with others they known for a long time, people actually meet in other games, sure there will be that one turd out of the bunch but really how easy would it be just to ignore that person.

Lets say a person gets stalked best solution black list even if they teleported to your location what then, nobody is breaking my hand to look at the computer screen to see
what they are doing, then just Duty up and play the game and pay no attention at all then of course after a while they just get tired of trying to get attention and move on.

I don't see it being abused I don't see how when like I said nobody is twisting your arm to get you to look at them on the screen or reply back.

One thing more even if you get the teleport off the ring, whats stopping them from using regular teleports to follow you, each place has a crystal.

You only get a minion from attending a gold or platinum wedding, not from hosting a gold or platinum wedding.

I'm sure the marriage system can be abused when you want to divorce. Just like the marriage system was abused when you got married for the exclusive items.

I don't get how people would take marriage in a game serious? It's a game, and there's no perks except some glamour stuff, hairstyle and a mount if you go with the platinum package. Not like you magically get tax benefits irl when marry in a game.

Can't we just reply with answers/suggestion for the question/concerns, rather than trolling with Critism?

If you can't find the NPC near by the Church, you may ask your friend to use the In-game Report button, with the subject :
Harassment and Abusive Player or something like that.

If there is any available GM, they will immediately send tell person a Tell and guideline.

It's a real life lesson. We should be thankful. He's teaching us that marriage is lasting. Even if you throw away the ring, your ex will still haunt you for many years.

Jk I really think it's weird there's not a proper divorce system in place (although that will probably teach people for getting married just for the items anyway!)

Isn't the easy answer making Person B's ring non-functional once Person A's ring is discarded? No ring, no teleport, no problem. Yet another oversight with this whole eternal bond thing.

This. I'm not asking for teleport to be taken out entirely. I'm simply trying to address that the teleport be taken out when BOTH parties do not have the ring because one person is officially divorced.
I think the current divorce system is good, since it doesn't require both parties to consent. HOWEVER, the problem is that the ring of the individual who does not give up the eternal bond, can still use that very ring to teleport to whomever they were married to, despite the other individual.

This problem has nothing to do with who, how, or why you married someone in game. This is not a problem Pre or post marriage. It is a problem POST DIVORCE. Taking all emotional reasoning out (since emotion is never good to use for reasoning) and utilizing logic, as I've stated before, this is not something that will be abused by the majority of individuals whom decide to divorce. However, we. are. human. There WILL be that one individual who is sour after a bad relationship. There WILL be that one individual who will use this flawed divorce function to harass said player - as these things happen in real life, it is more than possible in game.
