NicoNico payment error?

[EDIT] Spoke to Visa, as well as Verified by Visa dept and there are no issues on their end. Told me to contact vendor. :(

[EDIT 2] Paid for a game on Steam, worked fine

[EDIT 3] Tried a MasterCard, same error. Ignoring MasterCard now, focusing on Visa

[EDIT 7] Spoke with my bank again, they gave me a new number to contact with help on Verified by Visa. Contacted that, was told it was being approved then an error once it goes to the merchant. Told me to contact niconico, and to perhaps "call niconico and have them manually process the card over the phone"

it's a generic error they shoot out when the card is declined. Basically you gotta contact your bank and tell em to allow charges from Japan, or from them specifically.

Ahh okay. No Paypal option? I didn't see it, except for a Premium subscription.

I forget what they're called in English, but were you using a credit card registered to one of those new security services? (e.g. Verified by Visa, MasterCard Secure Code)

In that case, I'd follow kyuven's advice and give your bank a call. Hopefully they can sort it out for you. :)

Visa says they're having "technical issues" with Verified by Visa, then transferred me to the Verified by Visa dept which said I was correctly enrolled in it, and the issue was on the merchants end.

I can verify Verified by Visa works for me, as it works with Pizza Hut online.

Niconico doesn't ask for my 3 digit number on the back, that is maybe their issue?

[EDIT] Tried calling Visa again, they see it being approved by Verified by Visa. Told me to contact the merchant. Still getting same error in OP. Nooo :(

I don't know why but Japan doesn't like PayPal for some reason. There are a lot of banks over there, especially for a small country, so...yeah.

Spoke to my bank about my MasterCard debit card, turns out it doesn't have SecureCode support so I guess that rules that out working (nico requires it).

My Visa should still work though, and yet Visa is telling me their Verified by Visa approved the transaction and the issue is on the merchants end.

Looks like a generic answer, i bought the stream np, i live in spain tho, but i saw some ppl in another thread who bought it from the US.

Tried again with my Verified by Visa, no luck.

Maybe try a prepaid credit card that isn't a Visa

idk if this refers to you or not but first you need to have a premium niconico account, you cant buy tickets without it. idk if it helps. didnt see if you posted that you had one or not.

The error you're receiving seems to be related to the fact that the Verified by Visa service on your card hasn't been activated. The error message that appears states that it has not been registered to the verification service. While the cards do support it, it's a manual process of setting up a special password regarding Verified by Visa. Looking at the gif that you posted it doesn't show the authentication portion where you enter the Verified by Visa password so that seems to be the issue. Perhaps certain add-ons in your browser may be blocking the software/request?

Please let us know if any of the above seems to help with the issue.

The card I use for my automatic repayments for FFXIV is the card that I am using to pay for a net ticket too. It obviously is able to make transactions online since it is charged monthly by SE with no troubles.

For my card though, niconico sends me to my bank and it wants me to put in my internet banking password, but it moves past anyway for me to enter my password in and then it just tells me that my card isn't validated for online payments >.>.

this is a validation and identity theft issue with your banking service zeno if not nico. most small banks do not allow out of country merchants charge their accounts so you may need to go to the bank and have them or request an allowance for niconico but you must know what country its located in for it to work

Right, which is why I spoke to my bank a day or two ago. They already clarified the transaction for 1000 yen was approved, and the issue (if any) is on the merchants side.

This may or may not be helpful. But certain credit card companies use different security protocol. In the past I had to find a Canadian Bank that would work with the playstation store. Turned out about 1/3 of them at ps3 launch were not compatible with security verification used by playstation store. I was getting almost all of the transaction through and then fail, like you. It was something silly that with out google I would never have known. As I thought all Visa and Mastercards were equal.

If you know another american who has had no problem with getting the payment to go through maybe ask if they use same bank. You may be able to narrow down the issue. In my case I had no choice but to order another credit card at the time. Which will not help you. But some people feel better if they know why stuff didn't work.

It didn't take mine either but I don't care enough to go through all the trouble of sorting it out.

It's basically like Verified by Visa for Mastercards.

I was able to use my bank's debit Mastercard via Securecode. Took a 5 min phone call with the bank to allow the transactions from Japan. Since my small US Credit Union is a securecode bank, while entering my CC info it prompted me to create a MC securecode and the both transactions went through flawlessly.

I find it odd that NicoNico uses Paypal for subscription services and not ticket payments.

Welp I made progress, but no solution. After speaking with my bank again (who said they don't see the transaction), they gave me a number that can see Verified by Visa transactions: 1-866-767-8874

I don't know if this is Visa, or part of my bank. But they see it all, and essentially they're seeing Verified by Visa approving the transaction and apparently going back to the merchant and then failing. All they could say was to contact niconico at that point.

Do Visa gift cards have Verified by Visa on them, maybe I could buy those?

I may just have to skip this stream because it's too late to have the bank do anything for the Visa transaction. Oh well. It's a shame that Twitch.tv could not host it, too, but this is a Japanese broadcast. HOWEVER, my girlfriend lives in Japan and she could by me the points, but she's at her job right now. I could ask her later (met her online on a dating website, and yes, we are boyfriend and girlfriend) once she gets done with work.

Not sure how you guys are having any problems, i did mine in about 10 minutes and it all worked fine. Also im using a Visa as well.

All right, it seems NicoNico dose not like debit cards being used as a CC. After using a CC and upgrading to the premium, it work without any problems.

I have the same problem with my cc and dc Visa.

SE and Nico clearly doesn't want our money making such a hassle to give them my business.

Same issue here :( I already paid for the Premium Niconico membership, too (since you can use Paypal for that), so now I'm out $4.50 and no access to the stream. Blargh.

Based on this reply from niconico, I would suggest SquareEnix no longer use niconico in the future. Twitch does support Japanese language I believe.

How do you sign up to view the free stream ? You have to make a Niconico account but everything is in JP. Is there a twitch stream for this at all for those of us who don't want to jump through the JP hoops?

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU. This worked like a charm! The downside is that you have to pay a little more because they only have 2000 and 5000 increments, but I didn't mind.

(For anyone who uses this method, I suggest paying with a card and not PayPal if possible. Everything got confirmed right away when I used my Visa, but my PayPal order got stuck in limbo, so I'm gonna have to try to cancel it...)

Worked for me too. Tho i used paypal and my card order wouldnt work and got stuck on a refresh loop xD.
