Yes that achievment really irks me , 200 end game fights you get a mount?
For what ?
Sure tanking is a tough "job" but so are all the others ? We all have to learn the same mechanics etc etc there are literally a lot of endgame fights were the tank just pretty much absorbs damage while the team handles the mechanics and the checks
On dps obviously.

I vouch that each job should get its own mount at 200 to show support of your main job

I main SCH and I tell you healing through coils and primals have been a real pain and I have no mount to show for it. Mean while a tank can sit there and absorb a critical rip or a death sentence and get a mount ? Really ?

It's not about that I just want to know why its looked at as "prestige" to have tanked the fight when 7/10 fights you do nothing but absorb damage and stand there.

Healing Scob t7 & 8 are the only fights as a healer I just stood around and played "basic" SCH

The last thing we need are ppl finding more reasons to not play healers or tanks....

Though on that topic, I believe healers should have 200 mount quest also! Healing is harder afterall wtf >8D

But I guess this mount was put in place due to lack of ppl playing tanks, and nothing at all got to do with difficulty......

Sorry I doubt there will be any other 200 mount quests added xc

Yep it was implemented to encourage people to play tanks in those endgame contents.

It's working on me at least. I play at least one T4 or EX primal a day and I'll have my mount in 200 days!

There will also be healer jobs, and probably even at least one other dps job for the expansion, so the influx might not be as big as people hope. Besides, many people won't tank even with the new jobs because they don't like tanking period.

I still highly doubt that all tanks are tanking now and still due to a mount ? I doubt if other jobs were given this quest that they would truly care.

You want me to tank/heal stuff in endgame... sure. Give me the remaining 1400 or so light and I'll be more than happy to start tanking endgame stuff. Until then I'm busy with my grind towards nexus on my DPS. This is my main gripe. If I want to be helpful I need to ignore my relic but if I want my relic I can't help others this way.

Annyway yeah i think Tanks obsessive need to be rewarded to do anything is kind of annoying. His majesty gets a mount for his troubles while everyone else gets nothing. Healers often deserve equal praise to the Tank if not more for saving a run and they get nothing except personal pride. I guess since they don't deem the Healer supply to be as low they don't deserve a mount.

And the achievement reward is given out to tanks because there is a lack of tanks overall in the game(and the community is part of it - I've had some bad experiences myself but heard a lot from others as well).
A mount was an interesting idea but players being players will just farm the 200 runs and then stop doing so. And no more tanks again. It doesn't really help things in the end. What would help is reducing some of the grind or removing some of the locks on the grind(i.e. not needing to be specific job with a specific weapon).
What I'm saying is make it easier for us to do our personal stuff(like animus, nexus, etc....) in some way and more people might want to try other things. Novus was fine since you could do both the drex and the map without needing your animus weapon equiped.

Before nexus and with novus I actually queued up in all DRs as a tank or healer - since the nexus light grind... I go I could go tank but I want the light so will go dps... and that's one less tank to go around to help people(and same for animus - I could go healer but need to do that thing with my atma weapon to count for it).

Don't lock the grind or reduce it to something more manageable and maybe more people will do a run as something else.

And WHM already gets a mount. If anything SCH deserves one as well I agree on that. But then all the DPS will want one as well because you know... any run will end badly if there is a) bad tanking b) bad healing c) bad dps

I tank, DPS, and heal and you can definitely see the lack of tanks in the game, if you don't believe me queue something like ST as a tank and queue as a healer and see which one has the shortest wait. So that being said, I think it's a good thing tanks get those mounts seeing as to how conjurer gets a unicorn at 30.

Agreed. There's already enough of that, "I'm better than everyone else because I'm a tank," mentatlity in this game. We really don't need more of a reason for inflated egos.

It's a difficult one. While I agree the arrogant tank mentality is seriously annoying should be discouraged, if giving them an extra mount means more people might try it then that's great! We need more tanks, plain and simple. The job itself technically isn't harder than any other but there's added pressure because if you aren't good it's very obvious and can make the run much more complicated. Many players are rude and impatient if that happens, which puts some people off taking up the job. Or at least, that's what puts me off.

Giving all the classes mounts after a certain amount of end game runs is a pretty cool idea in itself. There should be other ways to encourage people to try tanking, as the mount reward is a little flawed.

Beggars can't be choosers. Tanking is the least preferred role in almost any games. Any incentive to play it benefits everyone equally.

The sheer fact that people are complaining about this instead of playing a tank speaks for itself. People just don't want to play it.

I think you missed the point... tanks are harder to find. incentivising tank involvement make it easier for the rest of us to get into a dungeon. If you incentivise everyone else suddenly getting into an instance will be even harder than it is now.

Exactly this.
If you want the lion or bear mounts, start tanking. If you want healers to get a mount then the answer is to also start tanking, if all healers start going tank SE will have to add a reward to start healing :D

I personally do not mind a tank only mount because tanking is the most thankless class in my opinion. If you screw up, even in a minor situation tanking, people can be so mean. I hated leveling my PLD due to DPS yelling at me when they crit two spells and a mob I wasn't hitting at the time goes and punches them in the face.

Observation/experience from my many years in MMOs:

Tanks = Thankless, you either aren't pulling fast enough or struggle with aggro slightly and get screamed at
Healers = Invisible unless the tank dies

I think every class should have a class specific mount at Level 30, and that there should be no favoritism towards any role for any reason what-so-ever. (This is coming from a tank too) If you need to be bribed to perform a job, then I don't want you to perform it, because you're just going to put in minimal effort for the reward and then once you have it, abandon it for something else. Give me my lion and bear at 30, and give the other classes something else to hump along on. Just because you dangle a pretty lion in my face doesn't mean I'm going to be more enthusiastic about my role. It just means you seem to trivialize the real effort being a good tank requires, and personally, I take and took offense to such a demeaning sign of ultimately useless temptation. I will perform my role to the best of my ability because it reflects on my character. And no offers of grandeur will get a better performance from me because I'm not a bandwagon tank putting in a half-assed effort like all those that suddenly picked up tanking JUST because the mount helped them to make up their minds. It's about taking a little bit of pride in your work.

Basically yes, these mounts were only created to encourage more players to tank as a way to fill out a role in need. Will be interesting to see if they make a Dark Knight mount just to be fair since Warrior and Paladin have one. I expect DRK will be popular enough anyway just because it's a 'cool' job like dragoon and ninja.

I will do Dark Knight simply because my Father was one before he became a Paladin... LOL.

If healers get an extra mount just for playing their jobs (you already get a unicorn as part of your CNJ quests), then why can't a DPS get their own mount as well? How is it fair that tanks and healers get unique mounts while DPS gets nothing?

Base on the current class/job specific mounts: If (as a DPS) you want your own mount, then you need to figure out a way to get people to stop playing DPS. (Good luck with that).

Unicorn - put in at release because people were not playing healers.
Warlion - put in because people were not playing tanks (Paladin specifically).
Warbear - put in because people were not playing tanks (Warrior specifically).

So using these examples if you want a mount for the other classes, you need to figure out a way to get players to stop playing those classes so that SE will put in a mount to get people to play them.

Mounts was implanted as a way to encourage people to play Tanks more. What you get in return is more Tanks in the DF.

problem isnt tanking is a tough job, problem IS no one wants to tank. look at how long most dps wait in queue (depending on server obviously) some complain about waits up to 2 hours

remember, dps are easily replaceable, and healers are more replaceable than a tank is (yes i think sch should get a specific mount like whm does, since i play healer too)

I MT for my raid group, and yes the 200 Full Party raids for the mount was created to increase the amount of players that actively play Tanks.

However, I dont believe it has had any significant effect to the implimentation SE had in mind.

Tanks are given to much hell no one wants to play them. I love my war and play him in my daily roulettes but I won't touch him in ex primals or coil.
I don't need that kind of stress in my life. Not from mechanics, from player hate.

If you want to see why SE felt the need to reward tanks, simply open up the Duty finder and look at what role is almost always the "Adventurer in Need".

As for the "I'm a tank, I am better than you" attitude, that isn't SE's fault, that is purely the player's bad attitude. Personally, I'm a tank player. I MT everything. My focus isn't speedrunning, or killing things faster, or getting praise. My focus is to hold the mobs in place and get the job done while keeping my party alive. I have no need to cop some arrogant attitude. The clear was made possible by the ENTIRE party, not one person. End of story.
