So I am sure there's others like myself that have alts. And we like to make gear and put said gear onto our alts for leveling. However, because moogle mail requires the character be on the friends list, it's impossible to mail items to alts.
Current work around though is having said alts in your FC and utilizing the FC chest assuming it has room. That work-around can be quite annoying, especially if the FC chest ends up full.
So here's where my suggestion comes in:
Add a new NPC to each of the cities and housing wards. These npc's would work similar to retainers except you don't summon them, they just are there. Clicking the NPC will offer 2 options: Access trade-able items and Gil Transfer.
With the first option, it would open a window similar to a retainer's item storage, except it would have only 2 tabs, an items tab and a crystals tab and the window is account bound so you can only trade items between just your characters.
The gil window works the same way, say you don't need a lot of gil on your alts and they got a few thousand or so you'd prefer to have on your main. One can put the gil on the npc and then hop on the char you want the gil to be on and all done.
In the end, it's about convenience. So please SE, do consider something like this.

Why alt characters?
I mean.. You can be everything in one, and even work for gear all its classes, and trust me that's enough of fun and time too.
(No, but seriously, I know of few people who likes this, and I was curious, so far only reply I obtained once was ''Because I can raid with two characters'' But that's just not valid for me...It's not like you can trade the stuff, isn't it?) -

Why alts? Weekly lock-outs, as others have said. RP. Some of us just like looking at more than one character, having some variation. Different races, visual styles, aesthetics; for the enjoyment of designing another character, or just because we feel like it. I have eight characters, and I play all of them to varying degrees. Some of us just don't LIKE the idea of doing everything on a single character, and we shouldn't really be inadvertently penalized for that, should we? It'd be great to have a bit of accessibility for those of us who choose to play more - especially given that we're paying a higher sub price to have those eight character spaces, instead of just one. Account-wide item trading for everyone!

Me, for example, I like the look of certain battle stances on certain race/genders more than others. I prefer Midlander guys for Monk, Miqo'te females for gun jobs (when it'll be there), or Wildwood males for white mage. I RP, but I also am fond of to the old style of RPG where one character had only one class and that class defined him and his story. It's a vintage RPG nostalgia feeling for me, mostly.Quote:

I made two characters so I could see how the story changed between a male and female character (mostly little dialogue changes), as well as because some gear looks better on the opposite gender. Another reason was that, at the time, my old FC had a lot of drama going on, so I wanted to play on a character free of all that nonsense.

I agree with OP. Im paying to have 8/8 alts on each world. I do get tired of not only playing with same look, but also playing on same server all the time. Now they have a world transfer service, why not an Item/gil transfer service. And I have a cool way it could work. We already have to pay for extra retainers. How about making the service where you can only trade between retainers on your account. For ex. add an additional $1 per month to trade to another retainer on another alt. i wouldnt mind paying another dollar per month for the ability to trade. Even though people are gonna complain, Se is a business and if my money is going towards their company to keep games like this coming and functioning, then im all for it

I mean, while it's a pretty time consuming and boring thing to do, in theory if you could send gil/items between each character.... you could just do the storyline over and over on various alts, and send the resulting gil/gear/materia to your main. Unlimited gil. Unlimited retainers/ventures. Seems to me that SE doesn't WANT people to be able to transfer things among their alts.
