A Plea for the Removal of Chocobo Heavy

Hello community, I have a serious complaint regarding the function of travel.

While riding your chocobo, as I'm sure all of you by now are aware, and taking enemy attacks you have a chance of being heavied.
This chance might increase when attacked from behind.

And I know that by now many of you have come to settle with this game
mechanic and don't think much or twice about it when this occurs to you in-game.

However, I find this incredibly annoying and unfair, which I'll go into in a second.

In 1.0, being attacked by a high-leveled monster sometimes meant your chocobo running away from under you,
leaving you alone in the hostile environment you found yourself in.
This left you the option to run away or fight "fairly" instead of being trapped into either fighting or dying,
which back in 1.0 you'd be more likely to die for unmentioned reasons.

Why this current mechanic is annoying is that it feels like more of a punishment than dying in this game
(which I should address separately, but not here). Worse yet is we're still heavied when dismounting our steeds.

I beg of the community to look at this for yourself and judge that there is a better option than being heavied while on choco-back,
that this mechanic is severely annoying and unfair and needs to be removed for a better option.

Liking this post, you agree that being heavied while on choco-back needs to be removed from the game for a better option,
and that my words do not speak for you from this post

I'd rather be heavied than dismounted in all honesty.

The dismounted mechanic is in ARR actually. You just have to take enough damage on your chocobo.

I never knew that. I guess I've never taken enough damage to find that out.

If you are on WHM, SCH, PLD, or DRG you can just dismount to remove the heavy and continue sprinting away until deaggro.

Hitting me pretty hard and knocking me off my chocobo and it resultedin a painful death :(

It's not a joke. Switch to a lower class that and go to a mod that will hit you hard enough and watch, you'll get his off.

While yes you are correct, this shouldn't have to even be done, as in the same argument the chocobo could have just bucked you off to begin with saving you 2 steps.

It only need a specific change.
It should be like in 1.x again, where only the chocobo get heavy and not the player.

Not sure they were joking, I have actually been knocked off a chocobo 1 time which very well could have been some kind of bug. But it did happen to me once ;P

As far as the slow, while I also find it very annoying and stupid. I actually have no problem the way it is now. I typically just dismount and sprint as well.

But I think that a picture is missing from thought here, if you get heavied and take constant attacks, that 20 second heavy turns to 25, 30, 40, etc.
It'll pile on and then it's more time wasted avoiding that enemy on choco-back than if you had just gotten off unheavied.

As annoying as it is.. It really is the only thing that keeps some respect to the monsters in the over world (imo, besides frogs and a stray bad breath). Otherwise they might as well make monsters not aggro when mounted cause whats the point xD.

I'd rather have it remain, even though I can commiserate with the status down lol.

In all the times i have been heavied, never once did it stack. Just keep on going on the choco, they stop chasing you fairly quick. Its just more of an annoyance than anything, but not that big a deal.

If I'm right I think heavy has been introduced in ARR to get you used to it for heavensward. I'm pretty sure in heavensward you won't be able to run by certain monsters and when you'll try it, you'll get heavy and you'll die. This is just a prediction of my they added heavy, we'll just have to see

I don't get double heavied too much and very rarely get triple heavied so I don't see that as much of problem. Usually I'll get out of the monsters aggro range before they can get a second heavy off. Compared to wow the mounted mechanics in this game aren't that annoying.

What is the rush? No one needs to speed run dungeons every time, nor do need need to go speeding by monsters all the time. Slow down, plan your route, slow and steady wins the race. If heavy is getting you annoyed it is doing its job, unless you like be petrified like by maahes and getting swinged by marracao and die horrible deaths, the world having ankle biting teeth that is slightly annoying is not a terrible thing.

Yeah this logic goes out the window when you have to navigate mob-dense areas with lots of spell casters like Sapsa and the Sylphlands.
The issue isn't so much that mobs do this, it's moreso that important things we have to get to repeatedly are placed in the middle of places with a ton of these mobs. Sapsa and the Sylphlands especially have more mob density than most dungeon rooms!

Just run around as healer or paladin. Get heavied? Use esuna/leeches. Or that one move that removes bind/heavy paladins have...

It might possibly be lifted in Heavensward. They have already mentioned reworking open world mobs to "be more of a threat".

Dear SE: Can you please remove all agro mechanics. The world is scary because I might waste time if I happen to not be paying attention to anything when I walk around the world (Or not care enough to even watch).

Another address I'd like to add is that my argument does not consider time that could be saved.
While in one view, yes not being heavied could save time escaping your predator, my complaint has no weight on that; being more like a secondary effect.
Someone brought up that heavy drops when you get off the chocobo, I actually like this. If you think about this in terms of realism, you wouldn't be
heavied because your brother threw a rock at your back while riding your bike. Instead you might stagger and fall off, hit a mailbox at most.

I'm simply saying with no alternate motive that being heavy caused by riding your chocobo is annoying, and there are more intelligent ways to work around
mount travel threats. I personally feel the dev. team didn't think this out long enough and just implemented it as a "w/e here's a punishment mechanic, please avoid getting this."

Already in 1.x the chocobo got slowed down if it got many hits in the back (it was also called Lamed, not Heavy). But the effect was only on the Chocobo, not on the character. Once he unmounted the effect was away.
Also the rate of automatic unmounting was higher (or the enemies in ARR don't hit strong enough for this)

They don't stack.
The new heavy overwrite the old heavy and reset the timer back to full time, but it don't increase the timer.

they didn't mean that it stacks that meant the amount of time you have to deal with it increases. heavy spam is stupid. instead of having every "high level" area just be nothing but heavy spam and having the monsters be nothing but speed signs make them actually have a real impact. heavy needs to go away or be limited to a certain location. it's lazy to just have them spam it all over the place.

just allow us to fight while riding. so we can use esuna.

It is not because enemies spaming heavy at you. It is because your chocobo got attacked from behind.
You can get it everywhere where you run with your Chocobo throught the view field of aggro enemies (those who are not more than 10 leves lower than you)
