Anyone else feel this way?
Not on my end, to be honest. I always have things to do. Maybe you should take a break and wait for more content to be released?
Nope. I've been playing for about three months now and I've barely scratched the surface of things there are to do in this game.
Actually yes.
Been playing since Final Fantasy XIV 1.19, and after farming gear in 2.0 coil and primals and dungeons
then 2.2 via Crystal tower, coil, primals, and dungeons
and now farming gear in 2.4 via Crystal Tower, coil, primals, and dungeons i'm pretty spent.
Just watched these 4 videos and these MMO's look more fun.
In these videos the enemies fight back, and seem to have a will to live, they arent just there to die like in ARR. At least that how it seems.
ARR, mobs just die, easily, and give tiny rewards
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5i2NPWfKrQk
Fights arent (or dont seem) scripted, have life and variety
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TyBpgEqeuk
Mobs have vast amounts of health, have engaging skills
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uCG5bkprOc
Mobs do special attacks, not indicated, move, and are dangerous
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4_Q6bYt450
In A Realm Reborn it feels like i'm fighting the community not the enemy. AKA trying to find people who can dodge good etc etc that is harder than the enemy itself.
If you're looking for someone to mope around with, you might find a few.
It's still not boring for me, though I'm starting to find that is takes more time to get a party together for older content, or perhaps that was because I was playing on a DPS role for once...
Other than that, I was sort of burnt out on clearing T1-T8 all in one go this month for the first time. At the end of T8 clear it just made me grumpy rather than cherishing the clear.
Also I've broke out of my roles of playing Healer and Tank. I haven't been a DPS since first month of launch. On top of that, haven't been a melee DPS for 2.0 yet until NIN rolled out.
It reminds myself what other players are capable of doing, and when they susceptible to losing a lot of TP or taking heavy damage.
So, now I know how much of a pain it is to be a melee, oppose to ranged DPS. I've always had them in mind in 1.0 with the positional hits of course, but never had the chance to feel out the pacing in 2.0.
NIN doesn't have much of a positional hits, aside from Trick Attack for it's vulnerability debuff, and a few bonus base damage from Dancing Edge and Sneak Attack. But, DRG required flank hits for heavy thrust buff is sad once I've noticed they've changed it from 1.0.
I've picked back up DoL a bit, and also went back into gardening for crossbreeding the minions. All in all it was a good month.
After finishing my 2nd Novus, the only things I'm going to be logging in for are poetics capping and coil runs until 2.45 when we'll have the next relic grind.
Outside of that, the only things I have left to do are getting my other jobs up to i110 and starting to craft seriously.
I still need to cap NIN, BLM, and WHM. Haven't done T5 yet, let alone maxing all the gear and materia for DOL and DOH. So, it's still a longg way for me to be bored
While in 1.x it felt like getting a reward in 2.x it just feels like never ending grinding where RGN is your worst enemy...
With tokens in 1.x you actually could get what you desire, but in 2.x there is no such thing...
The worst in 2.x is that they stacked RNG, while not only having the luck to drop (dungeons with trash in chest or 4th chest in ST), you also need luck in rolling and luck in beeing "your class" (the one you are seeking for)
Nope i'm still very happy with it
yupp, only log in to do beast tribe dailies, raid and then cap sol (usually cap on day 1)... so yes, the game is starting to get very boring indeed.
ROFL
Have you even played WoW and rift?!
That dude in the WoW video had no idea wtf he was doing.. wow open world mobs are no less of a joke than the ones here.. the leveling ones are even way weaker than the ones in FFXIV because they're meant to be passed through so quickly due to there being so many levels to go through now.
In rift i can tell you open world mobs aren't any harder than here either, nor do they require any kind of "skill" to kill, just basic class knowledge.
If you don't know the games why are you assuming from short duration videos what they are like ffs?
Not saying the FFXIV open world isn't easy, specially at 50, but they have also already said they would make it , at least slightly, less safe with the expansion(which is something i really want) though i think it will fall a bit short due to them trying to be appeal so much to the lowest common denominator, but that's something else..
1.x RNG was better than 2.0 RNG? Really?
8 players defeat the Moogle King
The Bard get the Monk weapon (it go directly into his inventory, can't give it to someone else)
The White Mage get the Paladin weapon (it go directly into his inventory, can't give it to someone else)
The Black Mage get the Bard weapon (it vanish, because he have it already from last fight and he couldn't give it to someone else)
The Paladin and 3 other players get Dark Matter 5
The Monk get a token
The Bard start to cry
Was this really better?
Nope. I've got some story to do, new dungeons to plow through and met a bunch a nice folks on Shiva. ^^ So, I'm not that bored...yet. And when I get to that point I just play something else. Like Final Fantasy 6 or something. All ways good. ;3
Not getting bored here yet. Still having plenty of things on my to-do list. Currently working on getting my last DoH to 50. Still have to finish up a few DoW's and DoM's to 50 then before heavensward arrives. Busy in T13. Still have plenty of achievements I want to cross of my list. So no, not yet getting bored :p.
The game is meant to be played once a week. Play it any more than that and boredom will ensue.
I'm bored with the game but there is a lot of things to do just not stuff i want to do lmao. In took forever just to get one item by the time you got it you went off doing something else. But in FFXIV i only really care about Coil so once that done i end up not doing anything lol.
So ya game boring for what i want to do sadly 1week limit really old let's hope for 3.0 raid not having this limit.
I miss farming dark matter in 1.0. But to answer the question; No, absolutely not. Played since XIV 1.0 beta and I'll keep playing.
I really hate to say it, but... kind-of, yeah. Not that I want to feel bored with it. I love this game so very much. But for some reason, whatever I do seems to be behind some kind of a wall. Not a paywall, mind (that'd be stupid), but just... a wall. Either my gil is too low or my perception stat is too low... and I want to get more materia for crafting/gathering, but the only way to do it is to craft a lot of things, and I get low on shards easily.
I mean, if I had the motivation to, I could easily bypass any of these walls. I just... don't, really. I'll still keep playing, absolutely, and I look forward to 2.5 and 3.0 with bated breath! It's just... I feel stuck and I don't feel like I can dig myself out right now. But that will change, I know.
Bored enough to cancel my sub. Of course I voiced my suggestions, but the forum wouldn't have it.
Pretty much, the game doesn't really offer anything new and each patch is just more of the same we did from the previous patch. It's gotten stale very fast and not very exciting anymore. I still play maybe once every week or two when my friends wanna play but that's been really it. Still lots to do but no real drive to do it when I know its all going to be replaced anyway come next patch. I find myself still hoping the best for Gold Saucer but I suspect Square Enix is going to take a Hearthstone approach to Triple Triad and sell boosters on the cash shop. The mention of a mobile app for it says to me its going to be its own separate game period. Truthfully I hope it is cos then I hope to cancel my sub to FFXIV and just play Triple Triad.
For the most part yes. Now a days I garden, raise my chocobo, chat with FC, craft, gather and some raid and dungeons but still kind of boring.
Not boring to myself, but you may want to give other things in the game a try. There are good stories in other jobs, crafting to make money, side content to explore, and so on. However doing 1 or 2 things over an over will make anything boring. Need to get out of that comfort zone. :)
When the only worthwhile and relevant progression content is a single raid divided into 4 boss fights, 2 of them which don't even have a smallish dungeon like section, yes, it does get boring. Especially when the side content runs out fast or isn't really worth doing aside for vanity, capping tokens or is already outdated and only serves to catch up.
Player engagement will naturally wane as we run out of new experiences, and rise again when new content is added. I am most looking forward to exploring the sky on flying mounts as this will be an experience unlike anything we've seen so far.
Playing dress up with my character is what keeps me occupied most of the time now. Trying to get the last couple of demimaterias to make a tremor axe.
Where did i say RNG in 1.x was better? I never did !
It felt like getting rewarded because SE implemented many workarounds, not only tokens, we had skirmish and other stuff too...
Compared to now there are NO workarounds, we just getting alternative gear that mostly is not what we are aiming for!
I said "it seems" implying i hadn't played the other two games. I did make mention that i played 1.0, and while "it was total shit blah blah blah" the enemies were all different. Literally EVERY enemy in this game is a cast bar indication mob. The only boss i've seen so far that was even SLIGHTLY different is the turn 12 enemy. You actually have to watch for an animation the enemy does to perform your response action. Thats literally the only one.
I would like some real danger outside of RNG luck and finding other people who know the fight.
Literally no fight in this game is hard. Its either "new" or you have "new players." Once you actually get people who learned the fight the fights are soooooo easy. The only time experienced players die is because of accidental phase changes, which in my opinion doesnt equate to difficulty but poor design.
How in the world are you not level 50 in all DoW DoM, not have a single 50 DoL or DoH, your Warrior doesnt have anything above Zenith, and you have no Original Lodestone 1.0 version character?
DISCLAIMER:
I"m not saying I do not like this game i'm saying i'm currently bored. Thus taking a break. I'm still subscribed, just havent turned in on nearly as much.
Not bored, no, and no plans to stop playing BUT I have to say this is one reason why I don\\'t go nuts trying to gear up. It\\'s really annoying that whatever it is it\\'s just worthless or trivialized 6 months later. The power growth curve is too extreme and major advances should come with cap increases (expansions) not with 20 ilvl every 6 months. Ugh.
On the crafting end they are going a bit more incremental which is nice -- or it would be if the increments weren\\'t mega RNG / Gil / time sinks. 7 more master craft, 81 sealants this patch for omnicrafters? Ugh! To say nothing of the Master II book crafts.
The game is still fun at its core and I have plenty to entertain me, though. Still participating in the grind to whatever level is fun for me, even though generally unsatisfied with the direction.
I feel like a potato when i think about gearing up now lol..
What's the point when ur not a raider and gear will get replaced in a few months. Final CT will probs drop the new upgrade items from FCoB and it'll be like ok here you go have fun with it.
It was cool to gear up back then in 2.0 cuz ur like
Omg im level 1 and i has noob gear but someday i'll get to wear that sexy i90 job gear!!!
Now its sigh, brb guys i need to go cap tomes. Anyone wanna do ex roulette with me?
The game got really boring for me despite the things i still need to accomplish, but the real problem is getting the motivation to do it.
Maybe i'll start raiding in 3.0 as things will probs be different dunno and not concerned too much lol
Deffo and speaks so much about one of my major gripes. I'm okay with gear progression and I do like it. At least when its done at a reasonable time rate so as to where it doesn't feel overburdening. An expansion every year or two for gear upgrades? Fine. Perfect! Stay with it, don't break the mold. Gear upgrades every six months? Um, no cos then it feels like all thats being done is just chasing gear and it wears thin after a while.
That and a system on top of gear progression to where the rewards are more permanent and will never be thrown away and will stay useful for the life of the game. Its just as fun to work for something that can be kept and will benefit a character as it is to upgrade gear in a new expansion.
Speaking of that expansion and I guess that's where my hope is in a sense of Vanilla FFXIV is the gearing up part and things taper off to a more horizontal progression model in the expansion. Something more then patches just being the same thus far.
*Here's the new story
*Here's the three new dungeons you'll be living in the next 6 months
*Here's the new token bought gear.
*Here's the new Crystal Critter of the month fight.
*Here's the new EX version of said Crystal Critter.
And a November 2011 join date (before the 2.0 beta forum was even created, and 1.xx was winding alive and kicking). In other word don't make assumptions based on what people have and do not have levelled or where they are with their relic progression.
I asume the op has every class to lvl110 and 120 and every nexus ,cleared fcob , got every HA gear and weapon , every doh and dol maxed out . Right?
I get on for a few hours every day or so, its fine if you play that way. But for those that want to play longer I guess there's not much to do.
Getting bored? Not really, i am just overwhelmed.
Working on:
Turn 12 FCOB
Ninja animus
Supras DoL and DoH
PVP Rank
Dailies to craft myself off hands tools.
Crafting tomato relish to get mastercraft demimateria.
I bought a large house, built a garden so i need soil, seeds and craft furnitures.
Spiritbond gear to obtain materias.
Maelstrom achievements (supply - leves mission)
Selling turns and primals.
Capping poetics and soldiers to gear my alter jobs.
Play with other jobs than my main (ninja - bard) to learn about that jobs.
This is how i personally used to feel. Always had so much to do. I hit a wall when:
1. Alexandrite became absolutely absurd to obtain in patch 2.4
2. I got 4 i70 tools for crafting and realized I dont want more crafting gear because I mostly only craft to sustain myself (ie crafting my own HQ food, potions etc.) and the curve for crafting i110 gear, or any food that is extremely only slightly better than 2 star was by no means worth the grind that i dont really enjoy compared to battle classes (just my personal taste in gameplay.)
3. To gear out all 10 jobs with full i110 or better i have to fight RNG and "new players" to fights and then watch while another person gets the loot in the party finder party loot "2 items" switch over to my piece of gear then lot and out roll me when it takes me 20-40 runs to even see my piece drop, then have that same RNG while trying to obtain sands for the tome gear you need.
4. Not only do i need to farm an absurd amount of Soldiery for gear, alexandrite maps, Scroll inks, animus books, I also need to obtain sands to upgrade gear, as well as farm materia in the same dungeons i do for animus, Nexus light, and to get tomes
All of that gets EXTREMELY repetitive.
So to answer this question
Its not fun to fight RNG, "new players" to fights you have cleared over 200 times and watch every single mistake a new person makes, when they think they have it on farm, then watch them get the gear you've been after for 20+ runs.
Then do the same 4 sets of content: Primals, Crystal Tower, Coil, and Dungeons, over and over and over and over and over and over and over, at each patch over and over and over, because Square-Enix doesnt want to add new content, and when they do (hunts) they do so with an unbalance, and you freak RAGE cause "its so easy" then it becomes completely and utterly useless and extremely boring because you wait 3 hours running around hoping something pops, (because the website isnt being used properly due to lack of playerbase) then when it does you wait 20 minutes for 8 or so people to show up, then find out 2 or more other mobs were killed while you were waiting on your "party to fill" to kill the hunt youre at for a whopping 20 seals and 20 soldiery.
No getting all the gear for every job was fun in 2.0, but, 2.2 and especially 2.4 its not fun and they are slowly locking out people who do play more than one job because the vast majority only play one job and they cry after 2 weeks cause they "dont have anything to do."
If they dont want to be hypocrites and nerf coil and watch the people who only do coil cry because "its too easy" so new players can catch up, but then not properly nerf Animus, Novus and Nexus, to be on par with turn 9 difficulty, so new players can catch up on their relic, and older players who play more than one job can get their other 9 weapons. Then not expand on content such as adding content to spiritbond, or add other avenues to accomplish "daily" tasks such as obtaining tomes, upgrading relic, or adding content to spice up crafting, to break up the monotony, then yes they have caused a problem for another type of the player base.
If they re-added B rank hunts i'd be perfectly content. I can only do so many FATEs, dungeons etc a week until need something different.
I have no clue why there are no end game Leve quests or Guildhests, the system is already there they need to just expand on it. Break up monotony, dont add to it please.
