Question For Dev team: Can you please low the soldiery cost for Animus books?

I've gotten my first book today, but the grind to get 500 soldiery is ridiculous for an Animus book. The cost should be halve seeing that soldiery is more valuable than Mythology. So the question is can you please lower the cost for Animus to 250 of soldiery a book at the very least?

They already did lower it from 1500. How much less work do you want to put into this?

To be fair PArcher, it was easier to get myth before than it is to solidery is now. It may be 1/3 of the cost but it's not a 1/3 of the work.

I'm sure it'll go the same way Myth did. Right after Philo was phased out, Myth was still pretty hard to get. With each successive patch, we got more ways to obtain it as well as the already existing rewards being increased.

Let me put it to you like this. The day of the patch I had about 7 soldiery tomestones left after buying gear for my Sch. I maxed out on Poetic tomestones in about 2 or 3 days, and today I finally made 500 soldiery to buy a Animus book. That's a little ridiculous don't you think?

Sounds like how Animus was before hunts. 1500myth took me about 3-4 days doing ALL the roulettes everyday. We got the atma nerf, no need to nerf animus too

(Although i admit it was stupid to give hunts such a high myth reward and now at the next patch it got harder than previous patch to get enough. They shouldnt have given hunts mythrewards and it would still be fair)

Huh? How can it be more or less valuable than stuff that no longer exists or applies. That logic is broken. This is the new pricing scheme and it seems to be just fine. There are grindy stuff to satisfy the players that like to grind. For other there is the UAT and iLevel 115 from T9 now without weekly lockout.

Better than 1500 Soldiery, sure. Not better than 1500 Myth used to be. That's the point. It was easier to get 1500 Myth pre-patch than it is to get 500 Soldiery post-patch. By a lot. A whole lot.

nah i doubt they'll drop the book cost, if anything like that did with myth they'll probably boost the soldiery drop at 2.45 or 2.5 give or take.

Only if you are counting from when Hunts was added to the game.
Anyway, they did lower the animus book cost already. Would have been 750 Soldiery to match 1500 Mythology otherwise.

It's easier to say the rates have not changed at all, if only a little worse on some aspects (specifically lolhunts). Saying that it's easier books/maps is utter nonsense though....

That's not the rate of conversion from the myth -> soldierly rewards, although this is a complete mess to begin with. Brayflox (heroic) gave 75 myths, now its down to 25 soldierly. Trials give 40 soldierly, down from 100 myths.

...yet first time bonuses are unchanged and give 100 soldierly across the board.

It makes me laugh when people see a lower number and go "LUL ITS ALREADY CHEAPER"

If you want to add actual conversion rates they gave us from Myth -> Soldiery as well, 2000 Myth = 500 Soldiery.

It was easier to get 1,500 pre 2.4 than it is to get 500 Soldiery right now. When I say easier, I don't mean it's opposite being as if you have to bash your head against Titan EX just for 50 Soldiery. I mean the length of time it takes to actually accumulate the total amount of points you need to get your next book. There's no doubting, Hunts made gathering Myths a lot easier.

So when it comes down to it, there is little change, if not a worse change right now. Good luck bashing your head against 10 dungeons in between books, just to get the next one.

It is the conversion rate for items that used to be available for myth tomes and are now available for soldiery tomes.

It used to be 30 Brayflox HM 2-boss runs per book. Or 20 full runs.
10 dungeon runs per book is definitely less than it used to be.

They will probably increase the amount of soldiery in 2.45 or 2.5, so be patient.

going by the conversion rate they had myth go to sol, (2000=500) wouldnt 1500=250? i can see OPs point tho. granted im done with animus, so its a none issue atm.

30 Bray took 5m45 (2-boss) => 2.875 h
20 full ~11m => 3.67h

10 new dungeon ~22m => 3.67h

Slower than bray burn runs.

It is easier to get 500 soldiery after 2.4 than it was with 1500 myth after 2.2

The amount of soldiery reward will get an increase with 2.5, like it was with myth during 2.3

I'm happy that 2.2 Brayflox HM is an exception, and not the norm of future dungeon rewards

If you run Expert/High/Low/Trials/Main Story once a day thats 300+ Sol right there Story can give upwards of 200 thanks to new player bonus.

500 is good the way it is

No one here is comparing it to 2.2, and no one cares about a 2.2 comparison that's already considerably out of date.. It's being compared with 2.3 since that's the rate we had up until a week ago and the current rate is indeed worse than 2.3 was. From a week ago pre patch to today post patch it got tougher to farm these. Even if only a little bit. That's the only detail that's relevant.

During 2.1 the myth reward was higher than during 2.2
During 2.3 the soldiery reward was higher than during 2.4

Why not comparing them if there is a pattern?

Patch wih even number (2.0, 2.2, 2.4) = low tome reward
Patch with odd number (2.1, 2.3, and highly 2.5) = high tome reward

Lowering the tome prices for the books further would mean to give them away for free in 2.5

Far from irrelevant, Tiggy, history shows that they make currency easier to get over the time, it's pointless to lower the cost of books when we will earn more soldiery in future patches.

Pattern or not doesn't automatically make it a smart balance. Posting that history changes nothing when the argument is that the balance is bad to begin with. The history also fails to address the OPs concerns and uses that history as some sort of blind justification.

Square has changed the way they've done things several times over the course of the patches because the existing method didn't work very well or the balance was found to be lacking. This is quite possibly one of those times. That's the point that's trying to be made here.

Well, what they could do, is not just attach it to soldier tomes, I mean we have items that make i110 gear that come from three sources, ST raid, Hunts and Coil. So why can't the same be said for these books, currently the only way to obtain these books is through obtaining 500 soldier tomes yet why not add allied notes and maybe even grand company seals to a means of being able to purchase these books.

For the allied notes it could be 250 a book and for the grand company seals maybe make it 25k. Then players can either spam fates and build up GC seals to obtain the book, do dungeons and obtain soldier tomes or spam hunts and obtain 250 allied notes to obtain said books.

Since getting the i110 "unidentified allagan" weapon is a lot a lot easier to get than the atma/novus weapons why not just add two more options of purchasing the books rather than changing the gain rate of soldier tomes.

The poetic tokens I would try to get, but the last time I did that with soldiery and well collecting all of those tokens for just 2 i100 weapons is still hurting me I still have i90 accessories in for 4 of my slot's for both my SMN and my SCH. As for T9 this thread wouldn't even existed, if I had found a group that could get pass T5. The groups that I was in either wiped at twister then couldn't get pass DiveBomb after that or just couldn't get pass divebomb all together. :(

Actually, they aren't. She only assists with obtaining some of the rarer things you need, simply because she's often the person to go to when you need to get something that isn't quite common.

The relic weapon is Gerolts, and that guy that upgrades your Atma's business. If you read the dialogue between you and the person that sells you the books to begin with, you will see that there is little to no value in them other than for your own weapon. SHE takes advantage of YOU because you want them enough to pay whatever she is asking for them. She boasts them as some kind of rare thing when really, across the continent, or wherever they are from, they're just dusty old books that have little to no value. Which makes sense, because story-wise, I'm pretty sure you are suppose to be the only person with the relic weapon of your job.

Agreed. Relic was menat to be easy but tedious (see: Atma pre 2.4). Just wait until they increase ways of getting sol or so something that will make getting the animus easier (maybe decrease the objectves per book?)

The difference is, the i110 soldiery weapon can't progress. The relic can.

That itself can work against the relic weapon. All weapons progress in a way. You can get an ilvl 110 weapon very easily, far faster than it'd take you to grind out your relic to that same point. But just like the relic, other weapons progress as well, just not in a similar way the relic does. You can replace the soldiery weapon with a high allagan weapon. You can replace the high allagan with a poetic weapon, upgrade the poetic weapon, then replace that with a dreadwyrm weapon.

The only difference is, you HAVE to sit through the grind of the relic weapon in order to reach the better ones. For other weapons, you don't. Everyone brings up the fact that the Relic weapon 'progresses', and will always stay relevant, well, other weapons do too, and are often even more relevant that the relic weapon is. There will never be a time where the relic weapon just completely blows other weapons out of the water. If they were to introduce such a time, they would be at the bad end with anyone who raids for gear instead of grinding their relic. Which would be a problem. Unless of course they merge the two somehow, but that's doubtful.

Don't forget that not only is it harder to get 500 soldiery now than it was to get 1500 mythology then, but soldiery is still used for many other useful things players want, while mythology was not.

Many people were spending on crafting items and jewelry for their retainers in order to keep their mythology down to 1500 for when they completed their current book. Now that soldiery and ST drops are uncapped, there are many people who are going to be using soldiery to gear up their less-used jobs in 100/110 stuff.

Yeah, but 500 sold? That's still one heck a grind ontop if you still need soldiery gear for your classes AND their weapons.

You can scream as loud as you want. You wont get the relic for free. Deal with it or leave, but pls stop crying like a 10 years old.

why wouldn't you want your voice to be heard? You sound like a under-foot type of person who accept being controlled. I'm not asking the books to be free in asking to have the price be cut down. They may take my thread or they may not at least I put my voice out there and that's good enough for me.
