uhh? mad about new content?
That's a new one...
Your work in this game is going to be "fleeting." Vertical progression is always going to be there, and you're never going to "beat the game." New content will constantly be rolling out. The joy of playing this game can be found in obtaining high-level gear, yes. Tossing out a 2k HP Cure or HQing a high-level recipe feels great. But in six months, when everyone's tossing out 4k Cures, it's going to be pretty dated.
So here it is, the mantra of where the real gearing-up-joy is to be found in the game:
Congratulations on kicking ass in 2.3! You're going to be well ahead of the curve in the arms race in 2.4!Quote:
The joy of gearing up is not in increasing your item level, but in the ratio of your item level to the current maximum item level in the game.
most expensive part are the required mc demi + ehcatl sealent
you can wear the forager set with all classes and each ilvl 60 forager piece has 3 materia save slots, which makes melding them very cheap and easy
if you desynth your current gear you'll probably obtain all materia which are needed for the new set
Don't rush to replace it. I have a fully maxed out miner and botanist with the "old" gear and there's still nothing I can't see. (double negative, I know) Need platinum? Ebony logs? Done. 638 GP, 420 perception, 428 gathering without food. There are probably people with more. I have no problem getting HQ on either of the new nodes. Will I probably need the new stuff in the future? Of course, but not today. So I gather the stuff to bring it to our crafting team who are working on the 4 star books so they can make the new gear. It's a cycle, but if you have a team in your who's working together, there's not any problems. I can't imagine the work if we each did this on our own.
Now the real question is... should I make a new character in Leviathan to hug Inflorescence?
This guy just made my day.
The good news is that it seems for us Disciples of the Land, we don't "need" the new stuff. It's a luxury.
For Crafters though who now need to be scrambling for every point in Control to start being able to reliably HQ the highest level recipes anew? Welp.
I spirit binded one weekend straight. I got loads of Grade III materia, I decked out all my crafts with them and grade IIs and Is. My buddy was like "Why did you waste your good slots on IIIs when you could have placed IVs in there?"
I knew in the back of my head that a day like this would come. Screwed me over when I penta melded that old belt and red coral earring when the new stuff in 2.3 came out.
I'll just set another day aside for more SBing and move forward.
I think you do need this armour. I have Forager's weapon and max melds on my gatherers and I need food to hit the new nodes on MIN and BTN, the new weapons would stop that.
Also, unlike crafters, we don't just get a +3 on 1 stat for each armour piece. Seems to be a fairly substantial upgrade, although I think that is mostly aimed at FSH. If anything, DoL need the new armour much more than DoH do.
It seems to be needed for fishing. Check out this thread: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...east-of-Famine
My fisher alt has forager's hat and rod, i70 battle accessories with +5 each gathering and perception on each piece, totals 349 gathering 291 perception.
The new legendaries take 400 or more gathering....
Disappointed with the new gathering stuff aswell. I put millions of gil in my gatherer equipment because I thought it would pay off in the future. Tbh it never did. And now they are adding new sets, which are expensive as hell (need master-demi, which is currently around 1m, among other things) as well as materia meldings. That would be fine by me, if they added new gathering materials. But they didn't. Oh wait, they did add one material for botanists and miners. The funny thing is that it can be gathered even with the old gear and is dirt-cheap on MB. There is absolutely no point upgrading your botanist/miner in this version since there is NOTHING you can't get with your old stuff. It is only worth it for fishers, but the other two classes are being neglected as usual.
can you hit 420/420 with the old gear without using food?
atleast on odin HQ platinum nuggets sell for 300k, since NQ are 10k
I see a lot of profit, if you are able to gather the ores in HQ instead of just NQ
Technically DoH just need Supra mainhand and Artisan offhand with 16craft and 8control melded.
I can gather platinum and ebony with just my supra and fully melded af gear and foragers hat.
no food no buff
so yeah it can be done but you need full melds
You DO realize this is a vertical progression MMO where occasionally new gear launches to replace the old gear right? If this is going to be a problem for you then you are in the wrong place.
You definitely don't have BIS on the gear then. I can see the new nodes and I do not have any new gear. I don't need food to get my perception, and I don't even have my 2nd hand tool max'd, but it's good enough. I have over 420 perception, gathering to spare, and GP at 636. Are you using dodore for your leather for belt, choker and rings; rose gold earrings and a militia bracelet? Here is my profile. I try to log out with miner or botanist. I know I need stuff on my botanist, but with the max melded level 55 gear, mammon supra, and max melded accessories, and near max 2nd tool; I can see Platinum and get at least one, usually 2 or 3 HQ per visit. Once I have the botanist the same (supra/BIS) I'll be getting Ebony as well. Same stat needs.
