Gives increased drops from mob if mug was the move to kill it.

I seriously hope this is just a joke...

Many question about all this, first of all, what all this mean exactly, is SE planning to bring back the old fashion super grind end-game were you have only 1% chance to get your item, but hey, if you add ninja in your group, you have 5% chance?

I see multi flaw in the idea.

Let say Ninja is a major FAIL dps, but in revenge it give Treasure chance boost, then i guess the balance is established. (But seriously... who in they mind wish to play a weak job? It was a terrible idea in FF11)

Now let say Ninja is a normal DPS as any other class, then why play other class that have no Treasure boost? (New PT setup be 1 healer, 6 ninja, 1 tank?)

I can already see the drama: DPS TURN!!! let the ninja kill! Because that drama did not happen enough with the spinny plume in Garuda EX lol. Gosh.

If the job is weak DPS but strong in healing or support to make up for it, how is that a terrible idea? MMOs should be more than just DPS DPS DPS. The fact that there are no dedicated support/buffer/debuffer classes in this game and that healers are practically EXPECTED to contribute to the overall group DPS hurts the game, actually.

lol there is nothing in the open world of value and 2nd all the best stuff drops from a treasure chest in dungeons so its pointless

Its been said that the new raids (2.4?) chest will not have 100% drop if people in your group already cleared the turn. I don't have the details but if this is true it sounds like a possible Mug application.. possibly.

I 100% agree with you on that, BRD was suppose to be a support class, but the game did not unfold that way. I am not the one that designed T8 and T9, where the DPS is priority #1. Hopefully you are right, and new content be more strategic and less DPS check.

Gear in FFXIV comes from chests, not from enemies.

Ninja will not have low DPS numbers, and THF was not a weak job in XI... Nor was NIN. Mug is there for people who farm certain items, I suppose.

The fights require both strategy and dps. You won't clear if one is lacking.

wait your complaining that there is now a class that can give the hole party more item chance? your logic is backwards i guess people have to complain about something new because they have nothing better to do.

/facepalm , mug only work on mob drops , and dungeons/raids drops come from chest and are 100% already so...

mug is useless , drops from mobs are good already

but there would be one question: does it work on Primals? (like the items you can get from tian/ifrit/Garuda hm/ex and so on)

tam this comes under the fact that the patch has yet to go live so that's under the dev teams descression if they believed it would have a negative impact on the markets they would have never added it after all yoshi even said before ARR launch that they intended to add a thief sort of class but due to reason could not maybe this was one of them but now they have most likely come up with a way so it does not brake the game. game devs do not just throw stuff out there without making some sure sense they it wont damage there IP.

It means you get extra hippo skins, garlean joints, fleece, etc. Not sure where yall get the idea it affects tresure chests.

Did you take time to read what you just wrote? I am not complaining about drop rate increased he he, but about item drop rate DECREASED, unless you have a ninja in your group. You need to understand the difference.

Anyway, i was not really complaining in first place, i am just wondering where all this is going, and sceptical about the turn out of it.

As everyone else, i welcome the job and all the work SE put into this game, and even if it turn to be what i am scared, i am still going to enjoy and play FF14, but i can't speak for everyone, just hoping the best for this game.

Edit: just to clarify a bit, COIL use to be 100% drop for 2~4 item, if t hey plan reduce the drop to 50% just to justify the need of a ninja, well, i am happy too, but is that really what people wish? (personally i welcome every idea).

people are misunderstanding the skill. it doesnt increase the chance at something drops. it increases the quantity. rng will still be rng. even more so with primal drops because it has to be the killing blow, and the rog/nin has to not be using a certain venom.

Anything that is important comes from chests so this won't matter.

might I ask where did you find the info for item drop rate decrease? Pr0c3ss0r because i dont recal any item drop rates being lowered in the patch notes regaurding 2.4?

They wont reduce any drop from old content, that is obvious, is the new content that might not be 100% drop anymore, or lower drop rate compare what we use to see, let say, more mirror, mount style item to come in future, so it justify the need of Treasure boost.

I think you are seriously misunderstanding what drop the Mug ability will effect. It won't effect the appearance of chests (or what appears in them) after killing bosses. It will increase the number of drops such as aldgoat horns, boar hide, Krakul skin, elemental shards and crystals, and possibly gold drops.

if it came from a chest, THAT ISNT A DROP FROM A KILL. dodo eggs would be something you can get more of. garudas feather may be something you can get more of. there is no treasure boost, only you not understanding.

Also this mostly. Anything of "value" comes from chests. Mug only effects direct drops. You people are having hot flashes about XI's "Treasure Hunter". I don't see mug becoming that. Chill out everyone.

some theorycrafting, based on skill stats, in patch notes...puts nin above MNK, in DPS.
Also, mug is only going to be useful for farming mats....it says increase amount of items gained, so i guess you get 10 fleece, instead of 5, or something like that.
i'm sure it won't affect primal items, like garuda feathers. cause she only drops 1, and rarely. so it's not like she'd drop 2+ with mug.
also i think it's primary use is together with Viper Poison, to leech HP, like Life Surge.

It's not that they won't have a 100% drop rate, it's that they will have a 0% drop rate if you are just doing the same turn over and over for loot (only in regards to the highest tier of endgame-ocity, not the other parts). It's SE trying to give us what we have been asking for by letting us help friends in coil with removal of once a week limit on raids. I'm fairly certain the idea was that you can only have x (lets say 2) amount of people who have cleared the run in your group or you get no drops, but since the implementation is still a ways off, lets hold back the taking things to the extreme by making up rumors about how things will work. MUG will more then likely only work when farming drops in open world, please look forward to it.

I highly doubt that by killing the final mob with that move will make the chest have a higher drop rate. The mob and chest are 2 different things.

nobody cares about loots from trash mobs.

The myth in FF11 about THF opening a chest lasted a few year, and SE was happy of not leak any information about it =D

Just to remind memory, in king ranperre's tomb, if you open the chest as any class, you had a chance to get get gil, Battle Gloves, or gem, but if you open it as THF, it was almost 100% chance for Battle Gloves. But it was the only exception in the game too.

BCNM/KCNM chest was ignoring who open it.

Anyway, i doubt they going to make chest affected by ninja. My worry is about those item to upgrade new weapon, let say i120 one. I have no problem with pony chance increase, after all is only a mount, it wont help you to beat any content.

What this means is that if you kill something, it drops a higher quantity than usual. Gosh. Please read properly, people.

To give an example, if killing a certain target usually gives 50gil, using mug will give you 60 gil instead (this might not be the number since they didn't state the %increase).
If killing something usually gives you 3 crystals, you get 4 instead (again random number).
If killing something gives you 0 of something, you still get 0 of it.

It does not increase the chance of something to drop. It increases the amount of things that drop, only if it drops in the first place. And it is only for killing monsters not chests. You aren't going to start getting extra gear from chests.

I'm assuming is for loot that drops from the mob not from chests. Which would make it useful only for open world mobs or dungeon trash but not bosses. Either wise it would make nin a must in every farming party which would go against what yoshi had been doing with the game up till now where no class has ever been a must. Maybe one class here and there on a particular fight but not one class for every fight.

Loot from primals comes in chests? Well duh.
